Considering roughly the same number of Americans are killed in a year by illegal immigrants than in the Iraq war (2003-2012) I’d say it qualifies. Not to mention the drug, arms and human trafficking. That said, I don’t think a “see through” fence will do much to stop those issues. Needs to be a solid wall, not one you can just hand off drugs through.

I mean a wall wont work either way. I lived near the border. They have a lot invested in terms of technological ability to detect drugs trafficking in Texas.

Didnt that ring of human traffickers allegedly bring women in through NYC? I have no issue with securing that border, however, I want it to be efficient. Building a big dumb wall just sounds like a caveman attempt of solving a problem created by people with great motivation and of creativity to match.

What crime did lettuce commit to get into this country?

How do we know the lettuce isn't here illegally?   Maybe Mexican kids tossed those lettuce heads over the wall to their farmer accomplices...

Physical barriers funneling to check points that make it easier to apprehend illegal crossings sounds quite logically sound to me.

We should mark every piece of lettuce grown in the US "Made in America."  It's the only way to be sure.

Show me some fatsos climbing over the wall. Walls work. The first thing they try to do to come here is to just simply walk in. It has to be harder than that. The solution starts with a wall and progresses from there. As long as you literally let people walk in, they will continue to do so.

That wall isn't stretching from the gulf to the Pacific. They already have a ton of money invested in different kinds of temperature sensing radar at checkpoints, and in drones. That's not working and they're still getting around that. What is a wall that doesn't even cover all the land built going to change? And for the record a wall that spanned the whole border wouldnt work either. They'd find a way to go under if needed.

They're going to adjust. You're better off increasing drone coverage and the technological abilities rather than building a partial wall.

The wall will be obsolete sooner rather than later. It's a wasted investment. Only a president who longs for the past would want to rebuild the wall of China on the southern border rather than invest in research and development of technology that helps or expand on the technology already being used.

I get it.... You're doing an act right? This is parody? All I can do is read that in Danny Devitos voice and it is magical. Well, most things are hilarious said by him.

I specifically didn't say that.

I'm not against increasing drone coverage or the millions of other things we can ALSO do to protect the southern border.  We put locks on our doors AND we arm secruity systems.  Sometimes, we even own guns too.  That doesn't mean locks and security systems are stupid and obsolete.

I believe that funneling traffic closer to check points with strategic wall placement will aid in preventing human and drug trafficking. I believe that's a cause worth supporting.  It's really that simple.

Fair enough, we can just agree to disagree.

I will also add, if the wall were to be built with funding from Congress it wouldn't matter to me. I'd still have my same fundamental disagreements with it, but that's part of living in a functioning republic. I can take my losses. I did with the Affordable Care Act. That has done nothing but cost me money, and directly out of my pocket, unlike the wall.

However, his work around of Congress does not sit well with me at all and creates more of an objection to it for me than the wall itself. It's absurd. Don't like half of his supporters like to talk about the Constitution like they hold it on some mantle and he is doing one of the most damaging things to it ever attempted.

At one point someone has to realize that broadening the powers of the executive is going to hurt him, by him I mean themselves. The Republicans spent 8 years crying about over reaching executive orders.

Now it is okay that Trump does it in an even more aggressive fashion? A Democrat will be elected again, whether you want to believe it or not, and if they don't become the party of reason. It will get worse. And I don't want to hear any of you cry when they pass more restrictive gun laws on you.

It's bigger than just the moment, it's about precedents. It all has to be taken in consideration, you get some things you dont get everything. And if you get everything, what is the cost? Is it worth it?

Which again this is why I don't go to PPP, because while your responses have been great and i enjoy talking to you. Their is like 5 or 6 posters in that forum who ruin it. It's funny none of them pop up in this thread. That guy you quoted is okay, but you said PPP is good if you can support your points. That post is grade a crap. I'll just leave it at that. You got some KGB clown in their too who talks too much and is always disrespectful. And some other dude who says NY loves to kill babies. That forum is poison.

All Dems in office... I was for the wall before I was against it. It made sense until Trump wanted it, now it’s oppressive. We should not be stopping those poor cartels and their sex/drug trafficking... how else are they going to pay for their mass unmarked graves and fancy axes to dismember bodies on the border?! There’s no crisis, ?

Hey, I want my 13 year old daughter to have a better life... let me stock her up with birth control so she doesn’t end up carrying 2 across the border from the many encounters she will have with the cartels to make it across the wall-less border.

Dems: don’t stop the cartels from using that girl, she has every right to be savagely abused on her way to America!

Your opinion is the only one that matters in the world. You are a better and more enlightened man than most.

Eff those low information voters.
