Most of the people who looked at this year's - and next year's - roster spending realize that 2018 is very intentionally a rebuilding year.

Those who have not grasped this before aren't going to grasp this now because we've added yet another thread.

I think both of the past two seasons would be more aptly termed as "transition years".

The transition between getting the players they want and learning their own limitations(like doing a 180 on the type of WR  they want in mid-year 2 after a bunch of controversial WR decisions in year 1).

But again........the Bills were between the 6th and 8th oldest team in the NFL in 2018.........they haven't been rebuilt per se.

Correct, they are transitioning from a perennial almost .500 team that used smoke and mirrors for 16 years to keep fan interest into a committed and professional organization: it won't happen overnight! Now unload McCoy, Clay, Hughes, Alexander, and sorrrrry Kyle Williams! Business decisions outweigh emotional fan loyalty!

Here’s broken position:

The 32nd ranked punter in the NFL has a Net of 37.7.

Our punter doesn’t have enough punts to qualify for that list, but if he did, he’d be special .... 36.6.

You need an accurate list of useable punters, so we don’t get caught like this again.

Again with all of the p***ing and moaning threads all over I just wanted to remind everyone this is really the first year of a rebuild. It's all this player sucks, we whiffed on this person or that person, we should have done this, we should have done that, this coach, that coach, the GM sucks, fire someone, fire everyone, it makes this board hard to read anymore. We lost 2 good OL'man and traded away another for whatever reasons they had. We have a rookie QB without much help, but has still basically been the entire offense this year. We have a rag-tag group of WR's who have not done much to help said rookie QB. No running game. A defense that isn't having the same good fortune as last year. You can post your QB ratings and think it proves something, blame coaching, who we signed, who we didn't sign, blame the GM, whatever. We have a young team at many key positions right now, a FA period with $90,000,000 to spend, and 10 draft picks coming up in 2019. If this was the end of next year I would understand, but it's not. I hope Santa brings you guys some Preparation H and a 3 pack of Puffs with lotion for Christmas.

Rebuilds only take 1 year so they better win next season. We are about to enter year 3...

Rebuilds do if the GM and HC are any good.

You mean if they already have the talent on the team and someone else comes in and knows how to use it......

Once again....that is not a rebiuld

What the bills are doing is rebiulding.....and several other teams have also taken multiple years doing it.

there is no right way or wrong way to do this......as long as it get none

Nope, truth is it shouldn't take long at all.

doing a rebuild on purpose doesn't work in the nfl, show me where it has.

Bill Walsh in his book (The Score Takes Care of Itself) talks very eloquently about the intentional execution of his rebuilding plan for the 49ers.   Walsh (as both HC and GM) went 2-14 his first season.  But he got rid of his excuse-ridden vets and brought in a bunch of young guys who fit his culture.  That worked out okay.

When Pete Carroll and John Schneider took over the 'Hawks they turned over the entire roster in two years (save two players).  All that transition was difficult and Pete had a losing record his first two years in Seattle.  Then he won a SB in his 4th season.

Are you saying rebuilds are never done on purpose but instead happen only by accident???

Highly dependent on existing contracts wrt salary cap situation.....and whether you already have a QB or need to go draft one.

But yes, 2019 is a show-me year for the Bills

The problem is that the Bills have regressed so far this is a forever rebuild.  Tell me how you fix this offense in one year?  It's not gonna happen.  Plus you have to start replacing players like Kyle Williams and Alexander.  Beane has been wasting draft picks and creating too many holes to fill.  No confidence in these guys.  We've been rebuilding for two decades now.
