Trent Murphy - Should we be worried?

The Redskins typically rank in the bottom half to third in the league in total defense.  I wouldn't base any defensive personnel decision based on what the Redskins would or would not do.  The biggest problem I potentially see with Trent Murphy is his game time availability, that we'll soon find out.

It's always something with this guy.  Groin, ankle, and now a knee.

.....and that's the bottom line. He's no help if he can't get out of the trainer's room. Made of glass apparently.

He hardly seems like an impact player. That's my real concern with him. Leslie Frazier called him their "big signing" in camp, but we're half way through the season and he has 14 tackles and 3 sacks in part time action. He was supposed to be an upgrade over Shaq Lawson but I haven't seen it. He's a better pass rusher and a much worse run defender so he's just a rotational player at this point.

What was the high risk?

come on, a Dr. should understand risks.

Spending about 8 mill on the cap(if cut after this year) and getting very little production for a previously injury prone player.

Soon to be two.  Such an ardent defender of all things Bills in almost every scenario.

No this is common sense......making evaluations in season in the FIRST season are just projecting and not based on anything tangible (much like defending a certain QB that will remain nameless)

I look at what players have done at the END of the season because they can go off and end up with 10 sacks.....

Common sense? This isn't Trent Murphy's 1st season nor is it the 1st time he's had trouble staying on the field due to injury.

I see.....so if a player plays one year for another team and gets injured.....and he misses a couple of games in the 1st year with OUR team....that player should automatically be dismissed?  Injuries happen.

Like I said...I will wait until the end of the season and look at his play for us as a whole.

He previously missed an entire season with a torn ACL and served a suspension for PEDs.  Now he's been plagued with an assortment of injuries with the Bills where he's out for the 2nd straight game, but yeah no worries.

Players get hurt.....he will have missed exactly 2 real games for the bills.

I dont get concerned about things before there is a reason to....our D is playing fine....our Offense is the tire fire.

If by the end of the year he has missed several games and not put up any production in the games he has played THEN I will get concerned about him.

So why even bother to comment during the season? Just to piss on others for actually having an opinion?

This is probably the best way to look at it.  See if his availability is spotty ala EJ Gaines, if it is then don't bring him back next year.  If he only misses these two games, for example, and his production is at least decent, he probably is worth bringing back.  Trent is not the biggest problem we have right now and there seems to be no reason to get rid of him at this point; it's not like we're vying for a playoff spot.
