A Canadian Who Smuggly Thinks He's Superior

Recommended Posts

Two Stadium Wall posts by Milton Waddams that I objected to:

"Huh? Want to be Americans? Hell no. I will 100% disagree with that. I hope you are being facetious. We live close to the border because living further north is generally land where over half year is frigid and the rest is black fly and mosquito infested. In order to live comfortably, the vast majority live along the border.  With the ridiculous politics of America, there may be 1% of the population of our country that wants to actually be American.

I mean zero disrespect to the US or its citizens with the above comment, it's just facts. 99% of our country thinks your gun laws are ridiculous, your president is a moron and the laws being implemented by this government surrounding immigration absolutely horrific and inverse to everything that your country was built upon. You may have had a decent chance to convince us to join with Obama or if Bernie had been elected, but only a fool of a Canadian would want to give up our medical system and inclusive  mentality for the mess that the US is under right now.

But still, I like to visit, have many American friends and really like the vast majority of your beautiful country.

edit: After re-reading my post, I think it a perfect example of a PPP post. Sorry to any offended."

Really? Meet me at PPP. Both of us, obviously, have differing opinions. We each think the other wrong, but calling mine misguided is where you see a problem in current society. Mine is guided by my opinion in watching the state of us politics and the absolute division of a country not so long ago headed in, what I opine to  be, the right direction. I would like to know about where yours is coming from. Many people in the US are following a president who has pushed an agenda favoring the wealthy and a direction towards oligarchy. If you are not wealthy or you believe in the ability for everyone to have an equal opportunity to succeed and not be suppressed by a controlling and dictatorial government/financial elite, I wonder why you would follow him.

The physical beauty of my country is unquestionable, but the true beauty of it is its people and our overwhelming belief in inclusion. The second we elect a clown like Trump is the second I denounce us as well.

Thankful for being credited and to your quotes. If you are too blind to see the way that the world currently views US politics, then I don't know what to tell you. This is  not my isolated opinion. This is one that I share with many many people all around the world. This is not a slight against the 59% of the country that does not support your president. This is an absolute slight against those that do. It is in comprehensible how anyone in their right mind could follow such an absolute moron

It is really mind blowing how incredible  stupid this all is. And on so many levels. It's just a testament to the powers of bigotry, factionalism and propaganda. Trump will say something incredibly stupid and before the hour is out it will be repeated on Fox, all over the Conservative media and by posters on this very board as if it is gospel.

DJT was voted into office because he made certain pledges. He's on track to making those pledges come true. Canada wants to be like Europe and is fast becoming so. America does not want to be like Europe. The election of DJT thankfully changed the God awful course we were on under Obama and we are now headed back towards American Exceptionalism.

I'm Canadian and I have always sensed the smugness of my fellow Canadians. The ironic part is they lack any real-world practical knowledge to base their superiority on. Very few have had any contact with the US medical system for example. So all their perspective is based on bias, anecdotal information. No practical experience on this side of the border.

That said, you will never convince anyone up there because they just don't know any better. They know what is spun to them. If this guy thinks Bernie and Barry are actually acceptable leaders you are never getting anywhere with him anyway. Born, bred and indoctrinated into socialism. Nothing you can do with that.

!@#$ing idiot.  You have no concept of how the US is supposed to work, do you?

Trump's not creating immigration laws.  He's enforcing the ones on the books, as written for the first time in decades, to encourage Congress to change them.  Because THAT'S how laws are made in the US - by Congress, not by Obama or Bernie.

I actually like Canada very much, but face facts.................

Most of the world views Canada as insignificant and couldn't point you out on a map, so your smugness is laughable at best.

And it's pretty obvious you know nothing about American politics.

It's the Democrats that are ruining this country, not Trump. They are the ones who are unhinged over Trump, while REAL American citizens just go about their day and don't give two flying fvcks who the President is.

I give you me as an example................... Trump being President or not has ZERO significance in my life as who is in the Oval Office isn't changing my life.

Canada's significant.  They saved England's ass in World War 2.

You and I see Canada as significant, but I am just telling you how the world views Canada.

People know Mexico a lot more than Canada, maybe because Mexico is trying to swallow our country whole, while Canada does things by the book.

I do want to state unequivocally that I never said Canada is better than the United States. What I did say, and this is fact, is that the world is right now judging America based on Donald Trump's politics. If your political views align with his, good for you and enjoy living in that world. However, I am neither a socialist Nor a communist. I just do not believe that the elitism that is being pushed by Donald Trump is Acceptable in the least.

A liberal by any other name is still a liberal. If you think Trump is pushing elitism, then you don't know what you're talking about. You need to stop listening to the lies on the MSM.

Here's a few decades old video by a Canadian. It holds true today.

It's funny that this thread title denoted me as someone who smugly thanks I'm better than Americans when you just talked about American exceptionalism. What in Gods name is that? Sounds like a situation in which that person thinks that Americans are actually the best and superior to others.Sounds like a situation in which that person thinks that Americans are actually the best and superior to others.

So, you find it acceptable to applaud the politics of Vladimir Putin and Duterte while diminishing those of forward thinking, traditionally aligned and intelligent nations such as Germany and Canada? If you like being a slave to your master, then you will really enjoy the future of politics if he takes it the way those two took their countries

The "world" judges nothing. This type of hyperbole....THE WHOLE WORLD IS JUDGING YOU AS WE SPEAK...is the by-product of a deeply held inferiority complex and an almost insatiable need for personal validation.

If it did, however,  it may well judge Americans harshly as that is the hallmark of being judgemental. But I'd think it would not stop there. It surely would be furious with Justin Trudeau, faux-feminist and acknowledged groper who described his day of groping as a "good day" while apologizing because he has come to realize a good day groping may in fact be perceived by the groped as not good.  It surely would be furious at the treatment of immigrants to Canada, in volume relative to the vast expanses of the country and especially as it relates to those from countries where skin tones run darker than those of The Groper himself.  The world would surely be judging the culture of assault prevalent in Canada's Junior Hockey program, recently referred to as the "dark side" of Canadian sports.  And certainly the world would simply shakes its head disapprovingly in the knowledge that a country with the natural resources of a Canada would not even crack the top 20 list of contributions to the NATO alliance.  23rd out of 27  when it comes to protecting something as important as...dare I say it...the world?

Sure, you gave us Michael J. Fox but how long are you going to ride that particular wave?

I love Canada, truly,  but people who live in ice houses should not throw bottles of Molson Ales at their neighbors.  I think you no more speak for all Canadians than do I.
