Bills fans = Sammy Watkins suck

Sean McVay = trades a potential high 2nd and a player for him

Andy Reid = signs him on the first day of free agency for $16 million/ year

Bills fans = Sammy still sucks and we can replace him with Jordan Matthews and Kelvin Benjamin

That must have blown the mind of the TSW contingent with lil' jobs.

And Sammy shouldn’t have said that.   But maybe grown people shouldn’t be throwing insults at a 23 year old.

It only applied to the knuckleheads who were harrassing him.  Didn't bother me one bit.

Can't get over how incredibly stupid it was to not pick up his option and then turn around and trade him for 20 cents on the dollar. Classic Bills management.

Ummm, we got a great pick from LA

They didn't feel it was worth picking up his option for $14M so they traded him while they could.  And so far, he has not shown that he's worth even $14M, much less the $16M the Chefs gave him.

So Sammy gets no credit for the Rams improvement?  You honestly think there is as much room for Gurley if Woods and Kupp are their top wrs?  Tyrod won’t have had better numbers throwing to Sammy?  Andy Reid just decided to blow money on Sammy?

Why is it so hard to admit Sammy is a very talented wr?  Good wrs don’t always need to put up monster numbers to have an impact.  It’s also seems that Bills fans always want to blame good players for the faults of the team.  I blame our bad qbs and outdated offense for Sammy’s production (injuries hurt too)  more than Sammy’s talent.

And I think if we’re being honest, we would all feel better about our offense if Sammy was our number 1.

The pick was better before the Rams were the most improved team in the nfl and made the playoffs.  But Sammy provided zero help with that.

This is an argument in favor of the people that think Sammy is overrated. The Rams traded a 2nd round pick and a starting level CB for him in a contract year, and instead of re-signing him they let him walk for nothing. If they could go back in time they wouldn't make that trade again. They didn't make that trade for a one year rental, he just didn't show enough there to make him worth a long term contract. Compare to Brandin Cooks who immediately got a long term contract done after he got traded there.

Thank you.  The Rams tried to sign Sammy and then immediately replaced him by trading a 1st round pick.  They know how important his role on that team was.  Love Woods but he doesn’t scare defenses.

They didn't try very hard to sign Sammy. He ended up getting a $16 million average salary per year in KC. The Rams traded a 1st round pick for Cooks and then gave HIM a $16.2 million average salary. They think Cooks is worth so much more than Sammy that they sacrificed a 2nd, traded a 1st, and paid $200,000 more per year to get him. I mean you really can't argue based on these facts that they were happy with what Sammy gave them. They could have just given him $16 million a year and not given up a 1st rounder on top of it.

Oh and Sammy got just a 3 year deal with the Chiefs. The Rams gave Cooks a 5 year deal. There is no way you can try to argue that the Rams were happy with what Sammy gave them. Everything they've done this offseason indicates the opposite.

I think the Rams underestimated the money Watkins was going to get in UFA.  He set the market with his three year deal.  The Rams felt obligated to replace him with the 2018 draft clas so weak at WR, so they traded for Cooks instead knwoing they had to secure their investment at market rates with a 5 year deal that they ultimately would have given to an unproven rookie (4 years plus the option).

So what? It does not matter if Watkins' deal, or some other WR's deal, set the market. The Rams had no interest paying Watkins that amount of money. They obviously felt he was not worth it.

Apparently, they feel Cooks is worth it.

Chiefs and Rams front loaded the contracts so when it time for their QB's to get paid (Mahomes and Goff), they'll have room to sign them.  The Bills will be doing the same thing next off-season.  The Rams obviously were more comfortable giving Cooks a long term deal instead of Watkins which tells me Watkins one year tryout with the Rams didn't go as well as the Rams hoped (they did give up a 2nd round pick for him so I can't help but feel they were disappointed in his play).

The Chiefs are taking a leap of faith with Watkins.  It's only a three year deal, but he's eating a bunch of their salary space in his 2nd year.  Watkins looked great in '15 in Arrowhead where he embarrassed their corners just couldn't cover him and that may have played a role in their gamble.
