Prediction: Nathan Peterman Bills Starting QB Wk. 1 vs. Ravens

I thought np would be the starter only to save Allen from the wolves since our oline sucks.

Burple, while correct in his prediction, seems to think it because he thinks np is the best QB we have.

Doesn't matter what the reason is. He made the call and was right.

The rest of us were wrong.

I actually said after the 3rd preseason game I'd rather see Peterman start, but it solely had to do with the potential of immediately destroying our investment due to a terrible OL.

I have no idea if or how much that factored in, but starting Peterman gives more flexibility in the sense that if he does suck, you bench him. Benching Allen after he's named the starter is trickier.

So there are a number of ways I can see this as the correct decision, even if it's not the exciting decision.

I feel more anxious than eager about Sunday's game.

I truly hope Peterman is a much improved QB.

We start legitimately finding out this weekend.

Gave him credit for the prediction.

No problem there.

Not giving credit for the reasoning.

Not going to pat somebody on the back when the reasoning was completely off center and the prediction just happened to line up with what actually happened.

Either way, it's what I wanted to happen, NP starting.

I wished we had kept AJM because I see NP getting hurt behind the line, and being forced to throw JA in, but I see the value in the 5th rounder, I guess.

Definitely an epic prediction. Never would have guessed it.

It's kind of like predicting Trump to win the election in March of '16.

Peterman the lesser of evils.

The sad part, like that with the election, is that we now have to actually watch Peterman start at QB.

I'm just envisioning the Ravens defenders salivating right now.

Peterman's strength is all the pre-snap stuff and knowing where he wants to go with the ball.

I've never coached or played football at a real competitive level, but I'd guess there are going to be a number of plays where the Ravens give a man-coverage look pre-snap with the outside CB a good distance--maybe as much as 10 yards--off KB or Say or whoever he's defending to bait Peterman into committing to that throw before the snap. Then as the ball is snapped the DB gets the jump on that out-route the way we've seen so many times.

That's the start of game planning against him.

I really hope I'm wrong and Peterman throws 4 TDs and 0 picks, but honestly, what do you think the over/under is for Peterman Interceptions?

Over/under 1.5?

Over/under 2.5?

Over/under 3.5?

I don't know he might get a full game this time.

Not the “rest of us were wrong”

some of you were wrong.

From the Ravens app

Allen may eventually be the starter in Buffalo this season, but the Bills are avoiding having a rookie make his first career start in M&T Bank Stadium.

Per ESPN, the Ravens are 14-2 against rookie quarterbacks at home. Under Head Coach John Harbaugh, Baltimore has allowed four touchdowns to rookie signal-callers at M&T Bank Stadium while forcing 13 interceptions in 10 games.

The Bears' Mitchell Trubisky won in his first NFL road start in Baltimore last year, though he went 8-of-16 for 113 yards and a touchdown and fumbled twice.

No pre excuse just sharing what I read

...if we're going to go by numbers the only place that had a poll from the start of preseason indicated most people thought McCarron would start next was Allen then Peterman so most of us seemed to of been wrong.

Only if you picked Josh or AJ.

5% is the chances Trans gave Nate.

5%.  Only a select group thought that.

At the start of the season I thought AJ but as time went on and games played my vote went to Nate based on his effectiveness with the 1’s 2’s and 3’s.

Error is more like it.  With a 1st round QB they need to develop, there's not much point wasting time with Peterman with such limited snaps available in OTAs, minicamp, and TC at SJF.

Yes that was the specific number that Tranplant gave but on his poll only 23% seemed to think he'd start. Later on yeah things shifted but I'd bet Transplants 5% probably changed as things went on. I'll say I definitely wanted Allen to start and I know I have a bias too. But trying to look at evenly I thought Allen still had a shot but there was a good chance Peterman would get it that 3rd preseason game was all the excuse McDermot needed.

The defense will have to put in extra work on the Peterman interceptions.

The real question I have for Peterman is how many Touchdown drives will he give me for each interception thrown.

Of the 2.  Lets not ignore the entirety of the thread.

It changes to a 50/50.

And many never wanted to see Nate start again.

Imo they chose who they wanted and not who won it.

I'd say that's somewhat true compounded on to the fact that no one really blew away the competition people got entrenched and started picking at each other's picks.

Reports are the Bills are teaching their receivers how to tackle without lowering their helmets.

I heard they were working with the DBs on how to break up passes.

I saw that, too.

And I said in another thread, there are reports out of Baltimore they are schooling their DBs not to jump the out patterns TOO early on Sunday because they may have to reach back for the ball on their pick sixes before it gets to the WR, which is a much harder catch.
