Hmm On the bright side, he had to waive his no trade clause and agree to come here, so perhaps that bodes well for him to re-sign with the Sabres? 1

ricojes Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 (edited) I like this move a lot, Skinner is the type of consistent goal scorer the Sabres have been lacking. Excited about this move! Edited August 3, 2018 by ricojes 1
stony Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Worst case scenario, he's got good resale value at the deadline. Like this a lot. 1

I'd love to re-sign him to a decent deal, but a Skinner at the trade deadline would get you at least what we just gave up. I liked Pu but we don't really need him and Asplund. Skinner is just what we need with Kane gone. Canes seemed to be stuck with him turning down trades. I think I'd like to see: Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart Sheary-Middlestadt-Okposo
JohnC Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 This team was desperate for finishers. Because of injuries Okposo was not able to train the way he normally does last offseason. If he can regain his form that would be a big bonus. https://www.nhl.com/video/skinners-terrific-backhand-tally/t-277350912/c-59224703 1

BillsFan4 Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 I LOVE this trade! Now we just have to get him signed. I’m a little surprised that Botterill hasn’t talked extension, but I would imagine the price would have been quite a bit higher if he did. Skinner fills such such a huge need for Buffalo. He is instantly our #1 LW. He’s a great even strength goal scorer (I believe about 3/4ths of his goals have been at ES) , has scored 30+ three times (including almost 40g 2yrs ago) and more than 20 goals 6 out of his 8 NHL seasons. I think we finally have someone who can finish Eichel’s passes! Between Skinner and Sherry, watch Eichel’s assist totals skyrocket! (I hope...). Im pumped up! I was hoping we’d trade for Skinner all offseason, but I had heard he nixed a bunch of trades at the draft and figured Buffalo was among the teams he said no to. Thrilled to learn we were very high on his list!!
