Buffalo Bills 2018 Salary Cap

Bump for relevancy

So how do the Bills go from 24 million below the cap right now to 92 million below the cap in 2019?

The Bills will have a lot of FA's then and what back loaded Cap $ they currently have is off of the books

McDermott and Bean have a lot of work ahead of them to keep a solid team going!!!

2019, you take out Wood, TT and Glenn and we got less than 10 starters signed.

Having a lot of cap space can also mean you don't have any quality players.

it means you have practically NO players signed.

Close to 60% the roster will be off the books in 2019 and less than 20% in 2020.

Chris Ivory's two-year deal with the Bills averages $2.75 million per season, making him the 20th-highest paid running back in the NFL. The deal includes cap numbers of $2.46875 million (2018, 16th on team) and $3 million (2019, 11th on team). He gets a $1.5 million signing bonus, a $1 million base salary in 2018 and a $1.5 million base salary in 2019. He can earn roster bonuses of up to $500,000 each season payable in $31,250 per game on the 46-man roster. He also gets $250,000 workout bonuses each year.

Post-Chris Ivory signing, Bills now have $22.8 million in cap room, per @NFLPA. That is 14th-least in NFL; league average is $32.0M.

Once we get rid of TT and replace him with a less expensive QB like Rosen, Mayfield or even Foles we will be above average in salary cap.

Taylors $8 puts them at $30 ish.

Then factor in the latest signing.    Still very close to middle of the NFL.

Just a gut feeling but Hughes and/or Glenn are toast...

Hughes I could see. Cordy has a bit dead cap and then they still need to replace him with a good FA making the value even bigger.

I don’t think Shady is going anywhere in 2018 (not that means much)

I agree about Shady, was thinking more about a restructure to create a bit more room this year...

When Cordy is gone where are we at?

If the figures are correct

Cordy Glenn, offensive tackle

Savings: $4.85 million if traded before March 18, $3.4 million if released before March 16

Dead cap: $9.6 million if traded before March 18, $11.1 million if released before March 16

The Bills' trade Friday of quarterback Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland will clear $10.44 million in 2018 cap space for the Bills, who had Taylor under contract through next season at $18.08 million. The Browns will inherit a one-year deal for Taylor that includes a $10 million base salary ($1 million of which is fully guaranteed) as well as a $6 million roster bonus due March

Over the cap has a slightly lower #.

$34,286,793

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/buffalo-bills/

Note - Spotrac does not have Ivory or Owa Odighizuwa the roster.

Per Buffalo News

The Bills get $10.44 million in savings, meaning they unofficially have $32.2 million available under the cap. That figure includes contracts given to free agent cornerback Vontae Davis and free agent running back Chris Ivory.

Buffalo Bills gain considerable cap space with Tyrod Taylor trade

Releasing Taylor clears $10.44 million from Buffalo’s salary cap figure and saves Buffalo $16 million in real money. What had been roughly $144.5 million in Top-51 salary cap commitments went down to $134.54 by subtracting Taylor and adding the next player. (In the offseason, only top 51 players count against the cap so by removing Taylor’s salary, the next one in line now counts where it didn’t before.)

The Bills will save $4.85 million of Glenn's $14.45 million cap number in 2018, as long as the trade is executed before Glenn is due a $2 million roster bonus March 18. The move also clears Glenn's cap numbers of $12.45 million in 2019 and $12.7 million in 2020 for Buffalo.

Cap Space (Total Cap) $39,717,307
Cap Space (Top 51 only) $39,717,307

Bills are currently at $22.8M in cap room. Once Taylor (saving $10.44M) and Glenn (saving $4.85M), Bills will have about $37.1M in cap space, accounting for the two players counting $480,000 who will replace them against the Top 51.

“Currently”.

I’m looking ahead ;)

there are still the 2 or 3 new players not accounted for.

$37 seems right when factored in.

Jerry is the next high $ player.

We’re getting to the mid $40’s mark I had calculated on page 1.

It will only add to the cap but also leave another hole to fill.

I'm wondering if they take their hits this year, especially if we keep next years #1...Not saying they should, but that frees the world up for them next year (which is already massive).

It all comes down to who the starting QB is would be my guest.

Bills have tendered exclusive-rights contracts to all four of their ERFAs, a source said: tight end Nick O'Leary, defensive end Eddie Yarbrough, tight end Logan Thomas and cornerback Lafayette Pitts. They'll all be back in 2018.

Bills signed DT Star Lotulelei to a five-year deal

Back down to $30 ish mil (excluding the other signings since Monday)

Probably be closer to 20 here shortly when some players roster bonuses come due.

Add Murphy to your list.

I'm rough guessing (can't tell how the longer term contract will be structured) around 16 million Top 51 Cap.

Starting to get tight.

1 hour until FA officially opens.

Yes, it is.

That pesky "Rookie" Projected Draft Pool allocation eats up nearly $10 Mil.

I'm hoping spotrac updates this asap so that we can get a better number  and cut out the guess work in the weeks to come
