And not having enough players on the field or getting playcall in in time........ and subsequently burning 3 timeouts.........2 in first half.........1 in second half.............Tyrod's fault for not calling play faster and getting enough players on the field. McCoy fumble..........again, Tyrod......should have known to put in in his other arm. Crowd standing up and giving Zay Jones a brutal standing Bronx cheer when he actually caught a pass..........Tyrod's fault. For throwing the ball to Matthews who clearly could not get OOB? Yes. McD admitted to it after the game. He said he thought he could get two plays in and made a mistake. When players can lay on your receiver for an extra 2 seconds, this is a huge mistake. When players can lay on your receiver for an extra 2 seconds, this is a huge mistake. Not even sure what the point of the play was. Did they think someone could get upfield on a short crosser? FWIW.......McD ran on the field at Matthews after the half ended and yelled 3 words: "DROP THE BALL!". Awful showing by the coaching staff today.........defense was a mess and Tyrod was basically playing streetball with his buddy Thompson.........it was plays made by players in spite of the coaching staff. They -and all teams- practice this every day from minicamp through the SB. They believe they have it mastered (12 seconds allows for inbounds play and time left to spike the ball). BUT, where exactly is the milliseconds on the game clock? Often you see what appears to be 2 full seconds pass before the play clock drops one second. Other times, it immediately flips to 11 seconds, almost before the QB catches the shotgun snap. Add in how slow the ref was in spotting the ball while the Bills were completely set to put the ball in play, and they have to rethink adding another second (13) to their scheme of what we can do in this down/distance/timeframe. I think what infuriated McD was that he not only should have dropped the ball.......Taylor had to throw it in his general direction to avoid a grounding call anyway.........but then he got up and then looked at the sideline holding the ball like he was wondering if he should call a timeout that didn't exist. If he had whipped the ball right back to the official it's POSSIBLE that they get the ball grounded in time. Still stupid decision by the coaching staff and Tyrod should have chucked it into the ground but Matthews is a 4th year pro not some rookie. Try real real hard and see if you can come up with a dumber decision, ever, by the Bills. 4 people deserve blame on that fiasco. The speculation in the stands was that they were trying to get the ball placed on the other hash mark because Hauschka missed the 41 harder from the side they were on earlier..........and fwiw he damn-near yanked the game-winner left from the right hash mark. I didn't put much thought into it either way because it was utter stupidity trying to run a play there that didn't involve an end zone shot.......but it didn't look like a checkdown........and if so that entirely explains the direction of the throw. It was supposed to be a quick hitter with the receiver going out of bounds. But Mathews so far away from the sidelines Tyrod shouldve realize that and thrown it at his feet.
