Recommended Posts

whatever happened to him? Gawwh he was overrated and all stemming from the homosexual thing.

Edit: also odd that you know Sam is in to BDSM...I guess you're the sub? :D

Kind of odd since your screen name is Boyst62. So you like boys and t-girls and you are 62. And I'm the sub... ha ha.., smoke another pole.

First off, you weren't dominant Shaq.

You were a garbage/coverage sack vulture at Clemson.

Last off the ball.......poor use of arms to lockout and maintain separation......which negates decent hand-use.

The combo of poor get-off and a lack of technical skill doesn't equal impact in the NFL.

He's got a good motor to work with but needs to go to pass rusher school this offseason like Cyrus has gone to OL school the past two offseasons.

The hopeful scenario: Vic Beasley Mach 2. Beasley got a lot of criticism after a marginal rookie season. Maybe the Clemson d-line coach ain't good and these guys simply need some real NFL coaching?

Pass rusher school for sure, which he will finally get a chance to do this offseason. One thing we know about the pro game is the dedicated and disciplined ones survive and the guys that got by on talent in college but don't have the work ethic won't make it. Luckily he got to get some real game time in this season and has a lot of video to review. Wish we could have got Seymour some more time at Gilmore's spot too.

I see Shaq topping out as a Chris Kelsay type player. Never a pro bowler but averaging 7 or 8 sacks a year and plays hard to the whistle, good against the run. You can go a long way with a motor, good coaching, the right attitude and youth.

Badol: Read this, especially the stuff about using hands. It's eerily similar to what you say about Shaq. http://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/blog/article-1/Ex-Falcon-Kerney-Analyzes-Beasleys-Outlook/f67dd3a2-b179-4eb9-b179-320636d4ddef

I'm concerned that he could end up just becoming a journeyman level player as well.

In a league where pass rush is king on defense........that's a problem.

Kelsay did his share to hold the Bills D back............people tend to think of him as a 7-8 sack guy but he was actually just a feeble 3-4 sack guy whose career HIGH was 5.

I think Shaq has better movement skills and pure strength than Kelsay but you really want two bookend 8-12 sack guys in the NFL.......especially if they are first round picks like Shaq or highly paid like Hughes.

The thing about Beasley was that he was a true speed edge rusher.

Quick and fast off the edge.

The technique is important and and some guys can never tie that coordination between hands and feet to get good at it.

But Shaq..........was not twitchy or explosive to start with.

Still perplexed by the draft love that he got.

Good motor......plays heavier than his weight when he makes contact........and I think he's got the balance and coordination to become a decent technique guy........but not the bendy, quick/fast explosive athlete that teams look for in a pass rusher.

So we get a player who needs to learn how to rush the passer as a first rounder?? Nice job Whaley
