I ask you DR what part of the deep state civil war does the gutting of state department play in this? Who wins and loses here? I see see it as obvious pay back by Putin for the Hillary led state department challenging Russia's elections. The State Department provides cover jobs and positions for many officers and operatives within the IC, especially Langley. The positions being gutted are not necessary (there is a TON of bloat at State - which is part of the DS/SG) and these cuts are part of POTUS's cleansing of the IC - which started first day, with a speech IN Langley where he made clear his intent: What are columns in intelligence speak? Why would a president on HIS FIRST DAY, in front of the wall of honor, discuss eliminating columns in the CIA? Language matters. Words are important. He chose his words carefully in that speech and has been following through on that promise from the looks of it. The winners of this cleansing, if it's done right, are the people. The faster we dismantle the rogue elements of the IC the better off we all will be as a nation and as a global community.
