Congrats on participating on the internet today.

Social causation is difficult to demonstrate, particularly between one person’s words and other persons’ deeds. However: The person voters hired in 2016 to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed” stood on July 28, 2017, in front of uniformed police and urged them “please don’t be too nice” when handling suspected offenders. His hope was fulfilled for 8 minutes and 46 seconds on Minneapolis pavement.

How do you know that. People break laws every day, especially law enforcement officers and judges. Heroin is illegal, and it's everywhere. Changing a law and changing behavior are not the same thing.

Right, but you're not going to change behaviour without changing some laws.

Doing nothing is obviously not the solution. That's not an option at this point.

You think they are going to call in the National Guard? Might help if there wasn't a "be gentle" order.

This is the opt-ed editor for the NY Post:

Officer’s lives are irrelevant to DeBlaiso, it’s an inconvenience to him when he has to deal with an assault or worse.  His daughter is arrested for assaulting law enforcement in a riot, and he feels like that represents her peaceful nature because he knows her heart.

I’d think it makes sense for the NYPD and state police to withdraw from his protection detail, leave his home and allow the DeBlasios to reflect on the beauty of her soul as a family.  Make a public statement of the withdrawal, include the address and  free them from  the viscous jackbooted authority figures that surround them.  Let’s give it all back to the people. We can call it  a Foot Locker to make it more palatable.

Fortunately for this #######, there are much better people than I committed to protecting him.

Laws mean nothing to those who are bent on breaking them. Murder is illegal, so Chicago should be a Utopia full of sunshine and rainbows , right ? Thinking laws or silly protests can eliminate all wrongdoing is foolish. There will be police who use excessive force, civilians who murder, etc etc. Police involved deaths are relatively rare, and more whites are killed per annum than blacks in these cases. Military force should be used now. It won’t make it worse, it will end the lawlessness.

This is only true because there are 6x as many whites as blacks.

On a per capita basis more blacks are killed and it's not close.

He's a fat disgusting gas bag...puny man.

Sure is. He wants to be a strong man, but everyone knows he's a coward with confidence issues.

He wears make up, uses fake tanner, etc. He's extremely insecure, which is why anytime anyone criticizes him he has to snap back.

You are living in fantasy land. It makes no difference to me what happens in the urban jungles. They have to figure out their own mess, and they appear to be incapable of solving anything. The only consistent solution adopted in the urban jungles is taxes and welfare. That formula has failed. Why?

How does DeBlasio get someone to guard his  home? The cops already hated him.

Somehow, that doesn't shock me.

This guy writes for Mother Jones. He biked around DC last night, and has a thread about what it looked like. I don't think it was just the curfew that helped DC.

This is really so funny. Democrats in the 1860's? Do you think they are the same as Democrats today? Just because the name is the same?

How can anyone make such an argument? Would Nathan Bedford Forest of been an Obama supporter?

The original post dealt with an allegation from 1927.  Back then, Joe Biden and his wife were just a couple crazy kids hanging out at a local speakeasy sipping rye and talking about the jimmy jack future they would have together.

Would you like to have a discussion on how this statistic is falsely being used? Or do you just not care?

This solution has failed all over the country in all types of communities.

Over the past 40 years, the gap between the rich and poor has grown exponentially and people of all colours have been left behind to live in poverty while the rich get richer.

Decade after decade, tax breaks have been given to the people who need them the least, and trickle down economics has proven to be a colossal sham.

I agree that most cities have major problems. But so do rural communities all over the South and Mid West.

Suggesting this is just an urban problem isn't reality.

The comments on this twitter thread. Oy. People truly think they can block roads, loot buildings, start fires, heck, protest without permits, and there should be no repercussions for them.
