Tyrod : 40 yard dash = 4.51 s , Vertical Jump = 37.5 in, Broad Jump = 126 in, 3 cone drill = 6.78 s, 20 yard shuttle = 4.09s

EJ : 40 yard dash = 4.65 s , Vertical Jump = 34.0 in, Broad Jump = 118 in, 3 cone drill = 7.98 s, 20 yard shuttle = 4.21s

Those are some big differences in speed and agility between the two.

True - on the other hand, we're still waiting for Cassel to finish his drills from 11 years ago... B-)

i think if Matt Simms doesn't completely screw up on Thurs then he gets the 3rd string QB job and Cassel is cut. I don't agree with it but it makes financial sense. You can't spend that much $ on a 3rd string QB

Really good point - if Simms looks bad Thursday night, they may feel compelled to hang on to Cassel.

Also have to think of the cap rollover implications...4 big FAs to sign this offseason, as well as RFAs like Corbin Bryant.

I didn't suggest EJ matched TT in speed and agility...just that he is a mobile, athletic QB who can run the same plays as TT. Cassel, on the other hand...

Cassel 40 yard = 4.78 vertical - 34 Broad = 115" 3 cone = 7.2 20 yard = 4.06

On the face of it, looks like Cassel is better from an agility standpoint than EJ and in fact on 20 faster than TT.

EJ is more of the Ben Roethlisberger type athleticism.

He's still lightyears more fit to keep a similar offense to what TT will run than Molasses in January Cassel.

Aside from that, EJ has potential. He improved dramatically during the course of the pre-season.

Only the foolish are blind to this and overtly or snidely imply that EJ should be cut or traded.

May we please not insult everyone's intelligence by suggesting the 33-year old Matt Cassel has anything close to the speed or agility of either TT or EJ? Did you see his "scramble" on Saturday? He did the unthinkable -- he made Fred Jackson look fast.

That's why you can't just look at these numbers to draw conclusions.

And looking at EJ's numbers or TT's from 4 years ago isn't fair either. EJ said he gained 8-10 pounds in off season. You think he is even close to his numbers from the combine?

Cassel also doesn't get sacked as much, which means he probably is more agile and with awareness less likely to get hurt and avoid the negative yards.
