Gator should be in charge of "family values" and Very wide right should be in charge of "gay marriage".

Fine, I support gay marriage. You'll get a big who cares from me.That polygamy is gonna be a B word for employers though when some guy wants 80 wives and they all are entitled to health insurance. The libs on the Supreme court made a true mess of things in this case.

Why is Hilary getting destroyed?

It's her turn to be President!

Oh yes because shes a woman. The same mindless logic that put the community organizer in office twice.

Sounds like a case of the vocal minority, then.

Path to citizenship is really the only practical solution... most illegals are basically here to make a life for themselves, and that's about it... there's some that are problematic, and those people most definitely need to be deported, but thats not a whole lot different than citizens who obey the law, and those who commit other acts of crime.

As far as securing the border... I have no real practical answer for that one. A wall, as discussed, is kinda dumb... you could throw more people at the problem, but when there's a will there's a way. Maybe the real solution is to better penalize those who employ illegals, to cut back on "demand". It's gonna be a tough problem as long as Mexico is "suffering" relative to its northern neighbors, though.

So what's the path to citizenship that is not already in place. Sure many want to come here to make a better life for themselves. They often do that by working under the table and taking jobs away from American citizens. I have a major problem with that. You continue to offer the carrot without securing (and no, it will never be 100% secure but in needs major improvement) the border the problem with never go away. If we even attempted at enforcing our laws regarding employment in this country that would be a good first step. Take away the incentive of the work. From the guy accused of murdering Kate Steinle in SF:

Lopez-Sanchez told KGO he repeatedly returned to the United States after he was deported because he could find work and make more money than in his native Mexico. He said he has worked on ranches in Arizona and helped stock stores in Portland, Oregon. Asked whether he came to San Francisco because there were more opportunities and because officials there would not deport him, he said yes.

Welcome to the chicken & the egg. You can't secure the border without first fixing the desire for the immigrants to get here. That's why the Bush plan was reasonable. It provided for a path to legalization, but also had provisions for temp workers and that would stem the tide of illegals. The logistics of securing the vast border are too complex to throw all energy to that, but ignore the demand side of the labor pool. Securing the border has the same probability of success as the war on drugs.

You have to get some cooperation from Mexico and Central America as a part of the solution.

Which is fine and dandy, but sometimes existing laws don't fit current society.

Yeah that was the same reasoning for the sanctuary city idea.A bunch of mindless libs were going to right a wrong and protect all those illegals from our harsh laws.Just ask the father of the woman shot on the pier in San francisco. You know, the one that said "Help me dad" before she passed

You have to get some cooperation from Mexico and Central America as a part of the solution.

Yeah, count on cooperation from corrupt Mexican officials who are benefiting from these people leaving their country.

The cooperation you need from those countries is to open up more avenues for foreign investment, so that more jobs are created in the home countries. But judging that many more Bolivians and Ecuadorians are looking to escape, fat chance.

I'm liberal. I support path to citizenship for immigrants that are here, and otherwise law abiding. Lopez-Sanchez does not meet that criteria, as he was not otherwise law abiding.

Oh I see so we just wait and see if they play by the rules.Did it ever occur to you that the Mexicans are emptying their jails and just sending us what they don't want?.These liberal ideals will continue to haunt this country until we all wise up or someone is elected and restores this nation to sanity.Do you think that any terrorists have crossed our borders? I guess we will all just wait and see.One thing is for sure, they can stage any attacks in a sanctuary city .

Congrats, you're on solid ground for The Donald's running mate.

What's funny, yet sad is that there are plenty of people who would rather support this kook over some of the more substantive and qualified candidates. Make no mistake, Trump will fade but seeing this sort of support for Trump is a really poor reflection of the composition of many of the GOP voters.

I'd argue that much of the support you see for Trump is being fueled by the media that loves to keep him in the headlines. CNN is treating him like a missing Asian airliner.

I disagree sir.

This is a reflection of a protest against the party establishment (as is Sanders and the dems)

As I wrote a week ago in Gator's Trump thread

The candidates (Trump and Sanders) are not the point, since both are so poor politicians

The response from the base of the Republican and Democrat Parties is what is important.

They want someone they can identify with, not the hand-picked, anointed, Establishment candidates (re: Jeb and Hillary)

That is what the latest developments are showing.

Baloney. You can throw a dartboard at the GOP candidates and find more qualified anti-establishment candidates than the circus clown. Trump's support is the epitome of low-information shiny object voter.

Easy. You make a deal with them and up front you tell them that if no deal is made, we'll ban travel and the flow of money to Mexico and central America and also tell the rest of the world that our military will not defend them. Without any pressure they have no reason to negotiate.

I agree that there is a protest of the establishment, but this isn't new and there are several candidates that they could have gone with rather than Trump. If you want to protest, go with Rand or Cruz, someone that at least has a modicum of tact, not someone who happens to be a birther, who is breathtakingly arrogant, thin-skinned, makes offensive comments to latino's, criticizes war heros, sophomoric you name it. There aren't enough adjectives to describe him.

We can say that Bernie is a socialist, but he isn't nearly the kook that Trump happens to be. Bernie the socialist is a distant second, Trump the Kook is leading the pack. Sorry B-Man, but this is a very poor reflection of the GOP for all those non-ideological voters that are capable of voting for either party.

He's a snake oil salesman and he's got a lot of people fooled.
