Mr. Wilson was a gentleman who used his fortune and position to the benefit of many through his philanthropy and love for his team and the people of western New York. Mr Trump uses his fortune and position to the benefit of himself. Please Donald, don't disrespect the legacy Mr. Wilson has passed on through the Pegula's to the people who love this team. As a matter of fact, Donald, please just shut up.

Hey Trump the Chump: "If Pegula wanted to make money, he would have drilled another gas well."

So what... He overpayed. The team can't be community owned. Why do you think he bought it? Of course, so the team stays in Buffalo. Choke on it Trump. Why do some have a hard time figuring this out? Yes the team is for him and his wife... BUT it is also for US BFLO fans.

I'm still shocked at how many on this board wanted the Trumpster. There weren't many, but the fact there was more than one was too much. He never had a chance to own this team, he only entered the bidding for his own self promotion.

I'm still shocked at how many on this board don't...now...see Trump as the stalking horse he most certainly was. (And I told you as much)

Non-Jovi et al was a serious bid. Well, it was a poorly led, disorganized, shambled and leaky ship, but the true intent was there.

OTOH, Trump was doing the NFL a favor. Clearly. And, he's following that up, by making sure that the focus stays on him, and not the NFL. Honestly Greggy T, have you heard one person anywhere say anything about the NFL's motives/position on this? Why not? Because Trump has been right there, dropping a new sound bite/quote, every time the story turned that way = lightning rod.

He's laughing at every "I hate Trump/Moron/Egomaniac" post in this thread, and every similar comment everywhere, because that's the exactly the response he has been trying to get from day 1. Trump operates in a world very few understand.

We'll see who is calling him a moron...when his favor puts him first in line for one of the 2 NFL expansion teams(if not 4), or let's him buy the next team up for sale. Consider:..no, really...stop, and think: Trump still had a beef with the NFL due to his USFL lawsuit/shenanigans. Did he not?

Now, he's done his penance, hasn't he? He's gotten the NFL exactly what they wanted: A record price for an NFL franchise.

From the outset, Trump was in place to ensure that the Bills weren't sold for under $1 Billion, thereby screwing the valuation of the other 31 teams....many of whose purchases were finanaced by debt. IF those team valuations were to dip, many owners would be in serious trouble with their banks. As I said: a world very few understand. Jerry Jones may have priced himself out of his own market...etc.

EDIT: The Pegulas, if they do in fact mostly pay cash for the Bills, as expected, are best thing that could have happened to the other NFL owners, because now it gives them the upper hand with their banks. "$1.4 Billion...cash! For the Bills, in tiny little Buffalo? My team is in {insert city here}, which means my valuation is now ($1.4 Billion + X), which means I now have Y-hundred million more in equity in this team, and your loan represents Z less % ownership. You either lower my interest rate, immediately, or I take my business elsewhere!"

And, if nothing else, this entire episode puts Trump's name right back where he needs it to be: in the headlines. This entire thing was a no-lose situation for Trump. But go ahead, call him some more names! I don't have a problem with it, given that, in the big picture, it's entirely irrelevant.

 whatever, he needs to focus on his failing casinos and not worry about us.

Not that I'm his #1 fan but you should know facts before posting about someone. There are a few casinos and hotels that use the name "Trump" that Donald Trump has no part of. He's actually trying to have his name removed from them. Those are the ones failing. Long ago they paid him to use his name to market them, and now that they've fallen below his standards he wants his name off.

Correct, because he has proven to make terrible investments. All that money, shot to hell.

It was a joke. That's what "lol" implies. He'll never turn a profit from the Sabres. HarborCenter will turn a profit. The Bils will turn a profit, but with 1.4 billion invested it will be an awful long time to see the net gains. That's before he builds a stadium, if he ever does.

I believe, he will see a nice profit from the Sabres, if/when he decides to sell the team.

I find the way you defend Trump interesting. You seem to think successful = good. Or successful = smart. I'm not sure I share those value judgments. There are good rich people and bad rich people. There are stupid successful people and smart rich people. Trump seems to be all about Trump. That doesn't get him much respect in my book.

I'm sure he does some charitable work. I expect most very wealthy folks do. Sometimes for tax breaks. Sometimes for positive publicity. Sometimes because they really care. I'm guessing Trump has some of each quality, but mostly because of the PR. Perhaps this will interest you:

@realDonaldTrump: The Wilson family should thank me. Pegula overpaid for the @buffalobills because of me!

Does anyone actually believe Donald manages his own Twitter? I would say the odds are slim to none. He has publicity people that likely do it and post things that sound like he would say that were probably cleared by a business manager not him. He probably doesn't even know how to use Twitter.

1: There is no indication the Sabres will leave the Pegula family in our lifetimes, possibly longer, making their sale a mute point. In approx 4 billion years the sun will run out of fuel. We're not really worried about it.

2: You posted a link putting someone down for "only" donating X million dollars, of which they have no obligation whatsoever to do so. You should feel proud of yourself. Maybe I've got it all wrong. Maybe you've helped more, either through donating your time or money. But on the other hand, maybe not.

I'm not going to keep going around and around on this issue. He's no saint, of that I'm aware. You don't have to like him. I do. I think we can all be happy Pegula owns both of our beloved Buffalo teams. I sure am.
