If you don't want to be raped, don't be a woman!

If you don't want to be shot by cops, don't be black!

And stuff...

I understand the point you are making, but selecting examples of rape and racism is somewhat diverting the point.

We all know there are bad people that do bad things and we all do what we can to protect ourselves from them.....and limit the likelihood of becoming a victim.

Though one can never blame the victim for being the target of a crime, one can certainly say that a victim was stupid/ignorant. It may be insensative to the victim's plight but it is sometimes the simple truth.

Leaving valuables in full view in an unlocked car is stupid.

Leaving your house unlocked and allowing the mail to pile up when you go away is stupid.

Lending money to a known junkie is stupid.

Walking alone down dark alleys at night in an area renound for muggings is stupid.

Taking sex photos/film of yourself and storing it online is stupid....very stupid if you are a celebrity.

Saying a victim was stupid is not justifying the criminals.....it is saying that sometimes one can avoid becoming a victim if one uses their brains. We teach our children not to talk to strangers for this exact reason.

I worked with a guy in the 80's who would leave a radio on his front seat. Some one broke his side window and stole the radio...... the funny part. his doors were unlocked.

again the 80's while doing on air testing .... I used to scan the frequencies and hear drug deals being set up.

Neighbor of mine (young guy, late 20s) had his truck broken into while parked out in front of his house -- although "broken into" is a bit of a misnomer since it was left unlocked. The thief stole some work boots and some cash he left in the glove compartment. He let me know about it so we would be on the lookout in the neighborhood, and I thanked him.

A couple of weeks later I saw him out in the backyard and he told me his truck was broken into again -- this time the thief stole an expensive pair of sunglasses and some more cash he had left in the glove box. Again the truck was unlocked.

On the plus side, I feel pretty safe that my place will never be robbed, because the thieves know where the easy pickings are.

Sweet Justice, perhaps?

Miss Maroney, so you claim you want all of those who posses, viewed or distributed your indecent image to be charged with child pornography? Well, then, you must be arrested for this image, too, because you disseminated the material to begin with which is a federal crime. Think it over, Makayala, because we know you are not impressed.

See ya in federal pound you in the arse prison.

You are so far off base on this topic. Keep muddying the waters though.

I'm not sure I am because my entire frustration over this whole event is that the celebrities embraced it and fought back. I really hate saying it because they are victims, but they should have done nothing at all, at least not publicly.

And, I know its hard with cameras and mics everywhere. But, if she and a group of others are now going to go on the offensive at this point it just lowers them to the level of their 'attackers' when they do not need to do that - and at that point it is hard to view them as victims anymore.

The entire social structure of this event and so many events of recent that involve the internet and social media - while, they're rewriting the playbooks.

Regardless, I would be curious to hear more of your take on it, feel free to PM me if you don't feel comfortable sharing it.

The whole thing is a lose-lose situation for them. If they didn't respond, people out there would say that they are condoning the situation. Then there would also be the people who say they leaked it themselves. No matter what, the people who want to attack these celebrities will find a way to do that.

and at that point I'd rather look like a fool with my mouth kept closed than open. Haters always find a hate.

I feel bad for Maroney but fair is fair and I cannot say I feel as bad for her because she is saying that it is illegal to view her illegally produced pictures.

What about Teresa Palmer or Hope Solo or Rihanna, or Lea Michelle? They're not saying Anything and we forgot they have pictures available. Even that one woman -better looking than any of them, bar raeli? The one who dated DiCaprio. She had some xxxxxxx pics released in this. No one has said anything about her.

Burnin Fairness the Nickelodeon and Diseny pop star girls are getting the brunt of this. Upton is not getting much attention. We have already seen all that and she is 2013. We like Jennifer Lawrence because of her fire and edge. The same edge that makes her character one to take those pics.

But they're no different than anyone. And just like every other woman and Gugny, they put their dress on one leg at a time. They're only special because we believe they are. Why do we do that?!?

I'll remember that the next time something is stolen from me. Suffer in silence. Taking it to the extreme...raped? Suffer in silence. Don't lower yourself to the level of your attacker by filing charges and letting everyone know what he did.

Reading your comments in this thread in a vacuum would lead me to believe that you have no respect for women, their bodies, or their property.

Doesn't matter if a victim is "stupid". Criminals are the ones to blame.

if someone were to be raped then publicly come out and lash out against the rapist beyond the scope of reasonability when the woman submitted willfully to nearly all of the rape... jeesh I just can't really make an analogy here.

Rape is an actual physical act. It doesn't make it less or more.

But in this case this was a will full submission by the victims whose privacy was invaded. The privacy shroud should cover all personal property but it cannot. Whether these are women or men doesn't matter - in this vacuum it is women.

I simply cannot feel all that bad for them because the actions many of them are choosing.

If you're a victim in a crime do what is legally responsible and seek counseling and do what is best for you. none of the things the women who've been outspoken have acted in their best interest

I never said otherwise.....in fact I actually said "...one can never blame the victim for being the target of a crime...".
