54% Voted against Tillis. Not exactly a resounding victory for the Rove establishment wing. But, yeah, the TP can't coalesce around a single candidate so you have a correct statement above.

In fairness, this is best for the long term, as those who pay attention to this stuff know that Tillis has the best chance to beat Hagan, and beating Hagan gives the GOP the best chance to win the Senate, and winning the Senate gives the US the best chance to spit out the country's most recent attempt to feel good before he does any more damage.

It's important that this not be seen as a victory for "moderate" repugs over "far right" repugs. the truth is that the entire GOP has shifted to the right and these are all contests betyween different factions of conservative republicanism rather than a true ideological war within the party. http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/07/opinion/zelizer-tea-party-fading-primaries/index.html

Yet more propaganda line of crap from the media. Repubicans may seem rational when they espouse conservative idea's and promises but when push comes to shove they vote like any democrat would. Defunding barrycare. Debt ceiling and so on. Good news for people like you I believe they are on the same team. Rino's put up token resistance to give the appearance of a legitimate opposition but in the end they are all just trying to protect the political elite class. Very disheartening and unhealthy as it makes citizens frustrated and desperate. Edited by Dante

LOL.............You see boys, it doesn't really matter to the dems if the TEA party candidate finishes first, because

this predictably lunatic response by DNC Debbie is always..............ALWAYS ...how they are going to portray GOP candidates.

They have nothing else.

Wasserman Schultz: Tillis's win means victory for Tea Party

Establishment favorite Thom Tillis’s win in the North Carolina Republican Senate primary Tuesday night actually indicates the Tea Party has won the war with the establishment, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) argued on Wednesday.

“The Tea Party has won the civil war that has been raging inside the Republican Party,” she told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast on Wednesday.

Wasserman Schultz said that Tillis "is no longer, if he ever was, an establishment candidate,” having been pulled to the right during his time as speaker of the North Carolina House.

“As the Speaker of the House, he has presided over some of the most extreme right-wing policies that have ever been enacted by a legislature. He has taken positions by being forced to the right — and I’m assuming he’s done that willingly. He certainly seems to have gleefully have engaged in some of the policies he’s put forwards,” she added.

Wow. She's completely lost her mind.

she's very likely correct. he's far right enough to win the primary in a state with a very conservative repug base. he's likely become more that way due to tea party candidates chances of winning. at any rate, she's far from crazy. it's smart politics to paint your opponents as extremists. even smarter if it's also true.

If Tillis beats Hagen and the left loses the Senate, it will tell you WAY more about the state of the Democrats than it will EVER tell you what you want to hear about the Republicans.

Your party is imploding, and you choice for President is primarily the reason why, followed closely by the trifecta of sockpuppet stupidity of Reid.Pelosi/Wasserman Shultz.

But yeah, sure, it's a tea party thing.

it really shouldn't be a contest in nc. never would have been if not for howard dean's insistence that dems could win in previously considered write- off states like it. as it is, hagen has a very good chance of retaining her seat. and very little changes for 2 years regardless, including the aca. obama wields veto power.
