The Falcons are putting up 800 Million Dollars of their own money to fund a 1 Billion Dollar retractable roof stadium in downtown Atlanta with the rest of the $ coming from public funding. They have plenty of shopping right on their own side of the border. Buffalo has malls too, and why would anyone drive into NF to go a club? Your analysis isn't very current. But you're close. Also, as I said, even with some Canadians coming to the outlet mall (and even the half filled casino), NF's fortunes have not changed. Take the ride in from Robert Moses to 4th St to Main. Go grab a primo parking spot at the casino on a Friday night. My opinion is that if a new stadium is built, put it in OP or Buffalo. Putting it in NF would be like putting a stadium in Pontiac, Mich. Its local head, Roger Trevino, is the former agent of Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, who has been rumored to be interested in being part of an ownership group that might try to purchase the Bills and keep them here after the death of Ralph Wilson Jr., the team’s 94-year-old owner. Erie County is paying over $100 million over the next 10 years towards the Ralph Stadium renovations plus all of their other game day costs that they are responsible for. Is Niagara County willing to pay the local costs of having the Bills in Niagara Falls? Seems like a lot of money to be spread over a much smaller county population. I don't know what the local share of a new stadium will be but it will be a hefty tab for Niagara County. Other counties don't currently share in Erie's expenses, so I doubt that Erie County will have to contribute towards expenses of a Niagara Falls stadium. Then they'll have to demo RWS with a decade of bond payments still to be made. The problem is and always has been that the local government couldn't find water if it fell out of a boat. The development in that city is inconceivably bad. Niagara Falls should be a shining city on a hill, but it's a dump. It's no wonder that people flock to the Canadian side. The outer harbor is another ideal location, but again the local and county government can't agree to move forward. With respect to domes or no domes, who cares? We love crappy weather football and at the same time we love enjoying our sports in comfort (FNC). Cities with domed facilities have no trouble whatsoever with the 12th man. Those places are hell to play in because it's downright impossible to hear the snap count or the audibles. This is a choice fraught with calamity. If they agree on a site and the whole thing grinds to a halt midway in the bureaucracy, it's sunk. Make a decision, any decision, and embrace it and move forward until the doors open. They already have their offices and a a practice facility there. They can salvage some things from the old ralph and there is plenty of space to put the new stadium in the parking lot and when they tear down the old stadium they can make that space a parking lot. I'm sure Hammer would go for this. Frankly it's a logical, safe move. But what sort of revenue potential does it have? There is little if any development around RWS now. Would there be more in downtown? The Falls? Near UB? Considering we have to live with the decision for decades it's worth taking our time. But speaking of development near stadiums, there is a massive mall that sits empty at the Meadowlands. It was a clusterf**k from the get go.. No way And Abbott Rd and Southwestern are?? I'm sure a traffic study would be done before a stadium is built but I have no doubt there are enough roads to NF to handle it. There are 4 major routes into NF: I-190, LaSalle Expwy, NF Blvd, and Rt 104. RWS has Southwestern, Abbott and Big Tree Rds. Roads to RWS Roads to possible Falls stadium I think a good test was the Wallenda tight rope walk. How many people arrived by car? How was traffic handled for that event?
