September 12 -- President Barack Obama:

"The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. ... No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation."

September 13. -- A senior U.S. official tells CNN that the Benghazi violence was a "clearly planned attack:

"It was not an innocent mob," the official said. "The video or 9/11 made a handy excuse and could be fortuitous from their perspective, but this was a clearly planned military-type attack."

September 20. -- Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta:

"It was a terrorist attack. ... As we determined the details of what took place there, and how that attack took place, that it became clear that there were terrorists who had planned that attack."".

spin dodge deflect - Conservatives take to the air that the jobless rate has to be doctored!

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The big drop in the unemployment rate a month before the presidential election brought cries of disbelief and conspiracy theories from Jack Welch and other critics of the Obama administration Friday. But the Labor Department was quick to dismiss such claims.

"Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can't debate so change numbers," tweeted Welch, the former CEO of General Electric (GE, Fortune 500). Welch did not respond to a request for further comment on his tweet.

Yup, bob and weave by the GOP. I wonder why you left out all the intervening quotes from your hack cut & paste job from CNN?

Like these?

September 12 -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton:

"We are working to determine the precise motivations and methods of those who carried out this assault. Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior, along with the protest that took place at our embassy in Cairo yesterday, as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. America's commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear -- there is no justification for this, none."

September 12 -- White House spokesman Jay Carney, in response to questions about whether the attack was planned:

"It's too early for us to make that judgment. I think -- I know that this is being investigated, and we're working with the Libyan government to investigate the incident. So I would not want to speculate on that at this time."

September 13 -- Jay Carney:

"The protests we're seeing around the region are in reaction to this movie. They are not directly in reaction to any policy of the United States or the government of the United States or the people of the United States."

September 13 -- State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland:

"Well, as we said yesterday when we were on background, we are very cautious about drawing any conclusions with regard to who the perpetrators were, what their motivations were, whether it was premeditated, whether they had any external contacts, whether there was any link, until we have a chance to investigate along with the Libyans. So I know that's going to be frustrating for you, but we really want to make sure that we do this right and we don't jump to conclusions. That said, obviously, there are plenty of people around the region citing this disgusting video as something that has been motivating."

September 14 -- Jay Carney:

"We were not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent."

Let's use real quotes, shall we?

Obama? Is that you?

I can only imagine the look on Tom's face when he reads that. Good job

You mean the look that says "Jesus, are those two really to dumb to know I was mocking Obama?"

I expect that sort of cluelessness from BF-squared. But you should know better.

Positive...still feeble. Bush's "jobless recovery" numbers were still better.

Well we've had the jobless recovery already. We're working on the job part now...

Haven't read through this thread but what's up anyone say anything about this QE3 or has it not been enough time for that?

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2012/10/05/number-employed-people-rises-873000-september-highest-december-2008

The unemployment rate decreased to 7.8 percent in September, a number certain to impact the presidential race.

Pundits have been saying for months this number had to drop below 8 percent for it not to be a hindrance to President Obama's reelection chances.

The economy added 114,000 nonfarm payrolls in the month according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics with gains in healthcare, transportation and warehousing.

Truly shocking in the report was that the number of unemployed people dropped by 456,000 to 12.1 million.

Maybe more shocking, total employment, as measured by the Household Survey, rose by 873,000 in September to 142,974,000, the biggest one month jump since June 1983.

As such, total employment now stands at the highest level it's been since December 2008 before Obama was inaugurated.

But even more mysterious is the divergence in the two surveys done by the Labor Department.

The Household Survey showed a gain of 873,000 people employed in September - resulting in the surprise drop in the unemployment rate - while the Establishment Survey only showed a rise of 114,000.

Hmmm.

The jobs were mostly part time seasonal jobs.

More people dropped out of the job pool (unemployment ran out).

We need more than the 114 K to keep up with the population growth.

582,000 part time jobs in the Household Survey to be exact.

114,000 new September jobs in the Business Survey.

This BLS report completely sucks for Obama! Why would anyone say it's otherwise?

Jobs numbers are positive and you guys are upset?

When did job losses start? Can't remember.

Wall Street opened up today positive on the BLS report.

Then they actually read it, especially regarding all the 582,000 part time jobs in the Household Survey, and then Wall Street turned down.

This is NOT a good report for Obama!

Well to be fair when it's bad it's fine. When it's not so bad it's either imperfect or corrupt.

It's not a great report unless you have mediocre expectations.

For example, if the bills don't get creamed this weekend, most of us will be happy. This from a team that once dominated the afc
