Hey, did you also hear that Mitt harassed a "gay" guy when he was in high school sometime in the 1960s?

Yeah. I'm not making it up.

The Left is leaving no stone unturned this time around.

Next they're demanding to see his mother's diaper service records - cloth or paper Mitt? Cloth or paper. It's important to the americanpeople.

I think we're watching JA evolve right before our eyes.

Come on. You can do it. Just admit it. You're STILL pissed that MSNBC fired Olbermann.

Sorry I have sense to see through stories like this and Mitt's dog was on the car roof. .

Odd. Strange how the press can find things out about Romney when he was young, even friends of his. But yet nothing on obama when he was young. Odd.

So you never heard any stories about Obama in college? That he ate dog? That he did cocaine? That he attended some rally led by a commie? That he associated with socialists?

You and LA need to take off your party-colored glasses. This is soundbyte politics and it's stupid on both sides. Didn't you hear: Obama ate dog. Dog I tell you!

You do realize that the biggest financial issues gays have are federal issues right? And when I said what's he going to do about it I meant is he going to back legislation to change these challenges?

Actually, the biggest financial issues they have, in many places, tends to be joint home ownership with right of survivorship, which is at the state level. But your point still stands...

There's already a mechanism in place at the federal level which says: if the state says you're married, you're married. Even when the definition of marriage varies widely from state to state (e.g. common-law marriages, which only ten states recognize, by significantly different standards and practices).

So yes, it's not a federal issue - above and beyond requiring states to recognize other states' civil practices (e.g. if New Hampshire grants your common-law marriage, and you then move to Vermont, Vermont can't turn around and say "Nuh-uh, we don't recognize common-law marriages.")

Oh, the irony of another "moderate independent" lecturing on the idiocy of political soundbites while also applauding a president who -- after years of being against gay marriage -- not only changes his mind FOR A THIRD TIME for the money, but then immediately turns around, points at his competitor and says "Look at the bigot who is against gay marriage."

Yeah, no political soundbite there. Just a strong man letting his opinion evolve. For the third time.

This president doesn't give a crap about gay marriage and if you weren't working so hard trying to convince a bunch of anonymous message board posters how "independent" you are, you'd see through it as well.

Oh there are many more. For instance If you pre-decease your wife she gets your IRA and continues the tax deferral on it. If someone in a gay marriage dies their spouse must start distributions on that IRA which are taxable. Also they do not receive step ups on assets. There are social security issues as well

About time. The "evolving" thing was embarrassing.

Somehow I get the distinct feeling that Obama's views "evolved" at roughly the same pace as his polling numbers and political focus groups dictated it "evolve".

Certainly it can't be him flip-flopping on a social issue for a political gain.

I do think Obama actually supports gay marriage is his mind - his personal opinion.

But, I also agree that he was waiting for the right time to reveal it or change his "official stance".

Please. He was for it when running at the state level. He was against it when he chose to run for president. And he's for it again because he needed the money and his base since has absolutely nothing else to run on beyond a failed stimulus, embarrassing health care law and a giant union kickback at GM.

You need only see how quickly he released an ad painting Romney as an out-of-touch homophobic bigot -- less than a day after he "came out -- to realize this is nothing more than campaigning. Barack Obama doesn't give a crap about gay people...he only cares about gay donors.

Plus he wanted to maximize his campaign cash haul from the super pro gay Hollywood set. Hence the 12 Million pay day from Cloony's dinner fund raiser.

And you think this is OK?

Anything else he is holding back till "the right time?"

Well Jim, I do not know what he is "holding back", but............................

I will bet the "right time" is November 7th, if he wins.
