Guy at work's theory about the Cincinnati refs

Recommended Posts

Pretty sure they called tuck rule in another game that same week, although I forget who it was on off the top of my head. I could also be making it up entirely.

Jets game it was being discussed. But what no one mentioned when discussing Sanchez's arm moving forward was that Ed Reed was drilling him in the back, that was what made his arm move forward. Stupid announcers.

I thought this post was going into another direction when I clicked on it. I was in Vegas during the game, unable to get a ride to Johnny Macs and not willing to pay $40 or so each way in cab fares, I gladly put on my Jackson jersey and headed to the sports book in the MGM. There were hundreds of people there. It was like a homeless shelter or soup kitchen, people everywhere, standing, sitting, laying on the floor, sitting and eating fast food in one hand as they clinched thier 3, 4, and 5 team parlay tickets in thier other hand. During my stay I noticed thelat the Cowboys and Lions game saw the most action but the Bills game was on 3 small (55 inches or so) tvs. You could watch it from anywhere. I spoke with the teller at the window when I placed my bets and he said the games with the most action recieved volume. It was clear to me that the Bills got some decent play because they were on many tvs in the area. It was no secret that people were cheering for the Bills as they jumped out to a lead in the first half. Most people forgot all about the game and focused on closer games like the Steelers/Texans, and Bears/Panthers. Many assumed the Lions game was over as well. Then in the second half you could see the cheers shifting. Fewer and fewer as the day went on. Every soboften you saw a few people stand and pump thier fists as thier tickets were becoming more possible. I thought about the refs after the game, I thought it couldve even been fixed but isn't it funny how I never recieved so many sorry appologies as a Bills fan just for wearing my jersey after a loss. People connected with me because they lost too. A friends family member I saw during the afternoon games first words to me was "man, your Bills really screwed up my 5 team Parlay". I heard that multiple times throughout my Sunday. It was like a knife into the back of Bills fans everywhere. It was almost as clear as glass how we got the crumby calls we got. Now I believe that if we played better that we wouldve won that game, at the same time we were winning and driving the field when that "catch" play happened. Worst case, we get 3 plays off and have to punt the ball, but we still kill some more clock and give Ginger less time to play with during thier cheap comeback. If anything, the refs angle was to make some money. I don't put any thought into the Pats on this at all. I hope youball enjoyed my story. Every bit of it is complete truth. It was almost like watching casinos dumping bags of money into thier vaults when the Bills lost. Altogether Vegas raked it in this week. Bills loss, Lions comeback, Panthers covering with a few seconds left on the clock. If there's a conspiracy it's in Vegas, or the refs were in on a HUGE payday.

When a game is officiated this poorly, it is no coincidence. There are millions of dollars at stake every week in both legal and illegal betting. I am not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but this game sure looked shady. And yes, the Bills played poorly, but the fact is that they probably still would have won if the game had been officiated correctly.

Agree 100%

they shouldn't have been in the position to lose this game but in the end they were and 1 call cost them big time. Of course they could have lost anyway, but if we keep that ball and even run 3 more plays off the clock there isn't enough time for the comeback. It was also a huge momentum shifter.

Hey, relax. We're kidding here. How stupid are you to believe that I'm serious? Who's the moron? That's unnecessary. Do you think that grown men actually believe that Robert Kraft is Satan and that Roger Goodell sold his soul?

Jeez.

I wasn't exactly calling you a moron. Your post read as serious and not everyone in this or similar threads are kidding around. Some people (way too many) actually believe the NFL keeps the Bills down for various reasons.

I did not believe you thought Kraft was Satan or Goodell actually sold his soul. I assumed the statements were figurative.

I just re-read your post and I still don't see the joke. Seriously, nothing in your post indicates that you are kidding. From your initial statement about trying to determine the refs motivation to your "makes sense to me" it all sounds serious. You also make two specific points backing up your argument.

Hopefully you'll excuse me for confusing your post with the myriad of others by actual morons who think the NFL is out to get the Bills.

Edit: Please see several posts prior to mine for evidence of people who actually believe there was something shady going on.

I seriously doubt the powers that be would be so concerned about the Pats being one game back in the division that they would start rigging games in week 4.

NE is still the heavy favorite to win the division.

With the Jets playing like they are, "Heavy" favorite might be an understatement.

Yup. And 9/11 was a hoax.

Do you actually believe what you're saying/typing or do words just come out and form their own moronic sentences?

You might want to invest in a sarcasm meter..

I've been off work since Saturday. I missed the second half of the game (at my son's little league game) and monitored it via my droid.

This morning we were discussing the possible motivation for the horrendous one-sided officiating on Sunday, and my friend (Bears fan) explained that it was all designed to get New England back into first place where they belong. He says Kraft is Satan, and Goodell sold his soul to get that job.

Makes sense to me. Think about it: When was the last time anybody saw the Tuck Rule called? When was the last time a ref came running from out of position to change a call (just give it to them)?

Are you the guy who had the girlfriend/ex girlfriend with gigantic tubes?

Yeah, because starting a topic and backing it up with arguments is always indicative of sarcasm. You might want to invest in sarcasm for dummies, because I don't think you truly understand what sarcasm is. Seriously, look up sarcasm and tell me how he was being sarcastic. Maybe you'll learn something, although you seem pretty smart so I doubt you need it. (That was sarcasm. Did you catch the biting tone? The caustic nature? The fact that it was properly framed because I already called you a dummy?)

Sorry, man. I overreacted. The guy at work mentioned that the NFL is all about the Patriots and Kraft is Satan and Goodell one of his minions. We had a laugh and I posted.

Being a Bills fan for many decades has had its affect on me......I'm afraid to be confident, because it jinxes the team. I'm a lunatic. But, I mean well.

Are you the guy who had the girlfriend/ex girlfriend with gigantic tubes?

No, but I sometimes I wish I could have been.

Millions of dollars that would immediately evaporate if the games were fixed. Games in every sport, at every level are poorly officiated. To some extent, it's just that there are going to be a lot of close calls and officiating it difficult work. More often, the refs are underskilled or undertrained to make the right calls - they don't always even know the rules. It doesn't mean that every blown call is a sign that the fix was in.

To the OP, thanks for the fun.

The officiating crew are a dark and mysterious gathering of minions. Who's they turn out to be is not for us to ponder. It will be better for us to just accept their proclamations as truth. My eyes indeed deceived me on what i thought to be easily seen catch by stevie to keep the game going and possibly (definitely) influence the outcome.

who am i to question?

stupid tuck rule...
