Whitner stats - Putrid as a playmaker

Recommended Posts

5 picks in 5 years for a safety is aweful. What even more pathetic is that Whitner had back to back years (2007 & 2008) where he had only 1 pass break up each (How does a starting safety in the NFL breakup only 1 pass in a season is beyond my comprehension). 1.5 sacks in 5 seasons is horrible too. It's amazing he is a starter in the NFL.

His nickname should be MR LATE TO THE PLAY WHITNER

Look, he's signed elsewhere...give it up.

As much as the Bills apologist crowd wants it to be like that, make no mistake, it's time for the Donte haters to rejoice.

Indeed, he was a really lousy use of an early first round pick and a strange little man off the field. He shan't be missed! Cheers!

Here is to George Wilson! You can't be much worse.

Earlier when it's reported Whitner signed with Bengals, rotoworld listed an interesting stat (which most Bills fans already know)

Bengals signed SS Donte Whitner to a two-year contract.

Whitner, who just turned 26, will add competition to a Bengals safety position that was projected to produce Reggie Nelson and Chris Crocker as starters. Both Nelson and Crocker are now on notice. Whitner led all NFL defensive backs in tackles (140) last season, and run support has long been his primary strength. Pro Football Focus graded Whitner 70th out of 85 qualifying safeties in coverage. The Bengals should make sure to keep him in the box, playing strong safety across from the winner of the Nelson-Crocker camp battle

He really cant cover. Someone was arguing with me in the shout box about it... like as if he wasnt terrible. Good riddence. Now maybe a good player will take #20 and make that jersey worth while. Not the greatest Xmas gift ever....

Just curious. Can someone help me here? Donte just signed a 3yr deal for approx 11m. What did we offer him months ago that he turned down for more in FA? I wanna say I thought it was 5m per year. I just think it's really funny he took less.

Wow! 70th out of 85 safeties???

Holy crap. Does ramming into the pile backwards count as a tackle?

Good riddance, Donte.

Funny post coming from you, who lauded the Whitner pick for years as a stroke of genius. Guess you were pretty downright wrong, huh? :)
