Caroline Panthers a darkhouse for L.A. move?

Recommended Posts

No way the Panthers are remotely interested in relocating. 50,000 season ticket holders paid $15,000.00 dollars each to build the stadium. Corporate sponsorship is still strong despite the results on the field. There's no way in hell that the Carolina Panthers should even be mentioned as a possible candidate for relocation.

I don't see it.... I think it will be the Jags....... They never show up to games... It's not always about selling tickets though.... They want to sell the tickets but they want people to show up also... Parking and $9 beers are a huge factor. Concession money is very important to profit...

The Panthers will never move. There is too much money in this town to let someone relocate it. Especially with the Bank of America Buildings within walking distance from the stadium.

Vikings Just got a new deal for a stadium so it looks like they will stay put. Carolina has a new stadium deal and very good ownership interested in keeping the team there, so they will stay put.

St.Louis seems like a steady organization but they aren't locked in. The Bills have a old owner, a smaller market, and an old stadium they have all the trappings of a team looking to move BUT they have strong local support despite not much to root for.

The Jags on the other hand have nothing going for them, no local fan support, not the biggest market, lack of support for winning teams, and an ownership group interested in moving.

All in all its likely the Jags move before the Bills as I think that it would be hard to move a team with as much history and support as the Bills when there is a market in Jacksonville that is very disinterested in a better product.

Vikings reached a deal with the county, but they need state approval, which looks unlikely.

LA has several obstacles the way I view it, and 2 groups battling one another.

There's 2 proposed sites for stadiums. One group wants to build it downtown where there's no room for the kind of parking lots that give way for the NFL fan to enjoy the experience of tailgating. The other group wants to build one way out in the City of Commerce which really looks to be Diamond Bar, and that is a long haul from inland. There's traffic on those freeways whether there's rush-hour weekday traffic or the weekend. I can't imagine 70,000 people congregating downtown LA for a Monday Night Game. That's right in the heart of Downtown LA

The CHARGERS moving here would be a travesty. They have a die-hard following down there, great 50 yr tradition, their only problem is having to play in a stadium that was meant to be a 2-sport stadium. There's way too many end-zone seats which puts the sideline seats too far back, almost as bad as Miami. That may not seem like a big issue but in Green Bay you're right on top of the field, makes for a great home-field advantage. Giving the PADRES a new stadium before they appeased the CHARGERS was a mistake. Still, they belong in SD and should do whatever it takes (within reason) to keep them there. They're more important than the PADRES.

If anyone were to move, I'd love it to be St Louis .... The SF-LA rivalry was one of the great 4 pm games and domes suck, unless they're retractable and even then you're not getting enough of the outdoors as the game was meant to be played in.

If Jax was to move to LA, it would create a realignment nightmare, and lets not forget that St Louis is one of the very few cities in the nation where Major League Baseball is more popular than NFL football.

A market that I would say that deserves consideration would be Miami. For being the 7th biggest market in the country, they routinely have empty seats. After halftime, a large portion of the fans leave the games. This dictates a low level of support, imo.

They'd do even worse in LA. LA is not an NFL town.

The Rams couldn't make a go of it, neither could the Raiders.

You ever try to drive around that place? It's a nightmare in every direction.

People would need to leave at noon on Friday to make it to a game on Sunday at 1.

It wasn't right for the NFL to let both the Rams and Raiders leave in the same year from the city. One of the teams, preferably the Raiders should have been forced to stay there. If Al Davis ever dies, the Raiders would probably be the ideal team to move there. Nonetheless, Miami is not a hardcore NFL town either, imo. I mean what group of self-respecting human beings would squeek like a dolphin for a cheer.

The Tampa Bay Bucs have to be included in any "move to LA" article. The Glazers own the team, but the stadium is largely owned (as the Glazers own some of the property) by Hillsborough County. The Glazers and the County have always had a rough relationship. Coupled with the brothers' financial troubles, the team's attendance, even during their Super Bowl run, was adequate to poor.

I don't think Florida can support three NFL teams. It's either the Jags or Bucs.

The issue in St Louis revolves around their stadium. It must be in the top tier of stadiums or the team gets an out. I doubt the team is looking for an out but they will just squeeze the city's balls to get money out of them. My problem with the stadium is that it is indoors and games there really suck. Night and day atmosphere at a Chiefs or Bills game vs a game in STL.

Totally agree. LA can be a complete cluster. Why they would want to take an adequate franchise on the east coast like Carolina would not make sense to me, Panthers suck at the moments but that division is set nice with all the teams not too far away from each other, might be the most structured geographically division in the NFL as it is now.

Until I moved here I would have agreed with you, but this just isn't true. There are plenty of nights where both the Dodgers and Lakers have home games and the traffic is just fine (at least in terms of LA standards). A downtown stadium would be well received and well supported -- but the team would have to win. Just like the Clippers -- no one here really supported them until they showed signs of life this year.

This is a huge football town. HUGE. USC, like any national powerhouse, is virtually a professional franchise in terms of how the players are treated and how rabid the fan base is.

Football will succeed in LA without question. That said the safe money is still on the Chargers moving to LA.

Just for the record, Da Raiders moved to LA without league approval, then took the NFL to court. Did the same thing in reverse when Davis got a better offer from Alameda County. But the last laugh is on Davis. He's kept a bevy attorneys busy trying to make Alameda live up to its deal. Meanwhile, the expected "big money" in the Bay Area never materialized. So, essentially, he makes less dough than he did in LA.

I don't remember the details on the Rams but it's possible they too forced the NFL to acknowledge the move after the fact.

Based on the legal history, I'm none too sure the NFL has the power any longer to really enforce its will on the franchisees. And I don't think they want to risk losing yet another round in the courts, which would add to the precedents that have weakened its central (dictatorial?) authority.

Agreed...Some lazy reporter did not do his research before writing this piece of crap. Charlotte is a pretty good up and coming city.

The key to the Bills is the history and the fan base. The NFL knows not to let go off that. I just don't see the Bills going anywhere.

I've been to 2 Bills/Raiders games at The Coliseum - there were more Bills fans than Raiders fans. LA doesn't seem to care much about pro football. (Can't say I blame them, what with all the beaches, sunny weather, and thong bikinis.

As for USC, they won't be a powerhouse for long...

NCAA rejects USC's appeal of football sanctions

"The NCAA flatly rejected USC's appeal to reduce sanctions imposed on its storied football program, keeping in place the harshest penalties leveled against a school in a quarter-century.

USC must serve the second year of its two-year postseason ban this fall, making the Trojans ineligible for the first Pac-12 title game or a bowl game. USC also will lose 30 scholarships over the next three years, giving them just 15 available scholarships per season — 10 below the normal yearly limit — until 2015."

Then, there's this...

"Now that the NCAA has denied Southern California’s appeal to reduce sanctions imposed on its football program, Bowl Championship Series officials will consider whether to strip the Trojans of their 2004 title." (link)

Let's not forget how crafty Al fleeced the city of Irwindale out of $10M...

Is Al Davis Planning A Move Back To L.A.?

I thought Caroline already moved to LA to become an actress. I heard she's waiting tables until she gets established.

I believe Caroline Panthers is now a porn star.

I think you're confusing her with the MILF pornstar, Caroline Cougar.

Don't quote me on this but I believe Caroline Panthers is the starlet who's had bit roles in some David Lynch movies… but my friends down there in WeHo say that she waits tables or does catering or something like that.

No, I'm pretty sure I know who all the actresses are in Cougartown - the only Caroline Cougars I know of are members of the Badger Amateur Baseball Association - West Division.

Perhaps you are confusing her with Hungarian porn star Roxy Panthers, who starred in...

That's correct - for now she can't pay the bills, so she lives in a darkhouse.

She's following her dream of becoming an entertainer and an icon.

The Glazers own the team but the I thought they now owned the Stadium too? The County built it but I believe that in the workings of their original lease agreement, that if the Bucks won the Super Bowl within 5 years of it being built the Stadium would be gifted to the team - or something like that. They won It with Chuckie and I thought they owned the Stadium after that? I know they own the land for parking around the stadium and the offices/training facility is on.

Two or Three of the Glazer children live in LA, and they tried to buy the Dodgers in the past, so its not too far fetched (having no knowledge of the Dodgers stadium, could it be retro fitted to house football games too? or build a new duel purpose stadium perhaps? Assuming the Dodger are up for sale soon). I believe the only siblings living in FL work for the team.
