San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 31, 2010 Share Posted December 31, 2010 John McClain, the highly respected football writer for the Houston Chronicle is reporting that in spite of never leading his team to the playoffs, and repeated late-season swoons, Gary Kubiak will stay on as Head Coach of the Houston Texans. The plan is to hire Wade Phillips as Defensive Coordinator. This will purportedly give the Texans two masterminds to guide the team…Kubiak for the offense and Phillips for the defense. That killed them this year. On the other hand, they sure looked flat a couple times early in games and the head coach should be responsible for that. But what's funny is hearing the constant excuses from the pundits about how close the texans are-- they just need a real #2 WR, they just need a legit TE, they just need that pass-rushing DE, they just need a pass rusher to compliment Williams, etc. Consider the talent on that roster--e.g., Schwab, Foster, Johnson, Daniels, Williams, Cushing, Dunta Robinson-- this team should be in the playoffs. Man, having a recent former head coach as your DC doesn't give Kubiak much of a leash before he could be replaced by Phillips.
