Just a guess but probably because he'd have to penalize all the teams in the league in doing so.

You need to read the official NFL statement of this incident first before you compare this one to spy gate.

---------

"Based on our investigation, we have found no evidence to suggest that Coach McDaniels or any other member of the coaching staff watched the tape. Nor have we identified any evidence to suggest that any member of the coaching staff or club management directed Mr. Scarnecchia to record the practice. We are aware of no evidence that would indicate the recording of any other opposing team practices or walk-thrus, or the like. And there is no reason to believe that the improper videotaping in London had any competitive effect on the October 31 game between the Broncos and 49ers.

I read it.

The irony is we know for a fact that Belichick didn't view the tape (the league confiscated it during the game) and thus wasn't able to gain a competitive advantage as a result. All we know about McDaniels is that he said he didn't view the tape.

As for instruction to go do taping goes ..... like McDaniels (or any coach in the NFL after the spygate affair for that matter) would do so without a "wink wink" in place.

Well, this news basically removes any and all remaining doubt that the pats* were in fact cheating.

If anything it minimizes the impact of video cheating due to the fact the Broncos were penalized so lightly.

Further, some might point out that the huge discrepancy in the penalty might also indicates Godell had it out to unfairly penalize the Pats.

The Broncos were caught cheating in one game. They didn't cheat their way to 3 super bowls, and weren't caught filming the opposing practice during one of the super bowls, chowderhead.

Go ahead and justify it anyway you need to. But you just admitted that the pats* were cheating for all those years.

The reason the league didn't come down harder on the Patriots is that it would make their "dynasty", and the Super Bowl (maybe even those seasons) look like a sham. It would have been bad for the entire league. Instead, they had to downplay it as "bad sportsmanship". It was the right move by Goodell.

It is similar to when they decided to clamp down on drugs in the late 80's and there were a bunch of guys getting suspended (Buce Smith). It made the league look bad. I don't for a minute think that drug use of any kind has decreased in the NFL since then.

I doubt you actually read the link of official NFL statement. Again, in the statement, NFL say "we have found no evidence to suggest that Coach McDaniels or any other member of the coaching staff watched the tape. Nor have we identified any evidence to suggest that any member of the coaching staff or club management directed Mr. Scarnecchia to record the practice".

As for what you said about how easy it is for a NFL coach to "instruct" video-taping, just remember the key word, "evidence". Anything else is just speculation.

On the other hand, when Goodell handed cheatriots the penalty, in addition to Jet's game, NFL also had six other tapes and notes from cheatriots. Belicheat also admitted he was aware of video-taping. It's correct that Belicheat or any of cheatriots' coach staff didn't have a chance to watch the video from Jet's game, but NFL also had evidence (6 other tapes and notes) that Belicheat or his coach staff members watched other tapes and instructed the video-taping.

Do you have any official NFL documentation supporting claimed facts? Or are you simply speculating in order to support your "cheatriots" "Belicheat" claim?

Which one? Belicheat was aware of video-taping? or NFL had six other tapes and notes?

A $500K fine and loss of a first-round draft pick ain't exactly a "slap on the wrist". JMHO...

Linky: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3018338

Yes it was they should have suspended Belicheat for a year if not banned him from the game of Football for life. The guy cheated for 7+ years underminned and threw into question the honor of the game for over half a decade and all he gets fined is half a million and a late 1st round pick?

But the Pats* are in tight with the league so not only did the league slap them on the wrist BUT they also helped them cover it up in that they completely destroyed the tapes and notes they took.

That Belichick ordered the taping of the Jets game. I don't recall anything confirming this.

The watching the tape part is moot as the Jets tape was confiscated prior to anyone being able to view it and any prior tapes aren't relevant as Godell said so himself when handing down the penalty and fine.

McDaniels gets a fine and keeps his job. Meanwhile his lackey Scarnacchia may get a lifetime ban from the NFL for being a "repeat offender." Repeat? I thought the NFL cleared the Cheatriots of any wrongdoing?

PTR

Scarnecchia was employed by the Jets during the Pats/Jets spygate game.

Yeah, and Hitler had nothing to do with Auschwitz either. Himmler set up the whole thing without telling him.

I said "Belicheat was aware of video-taping", not limited to Jets game. Belicheat stated many times that he "misinterpreted" the rules, which indicates he was aware of video-taping.

You kept mentioning watching the tape part because one of the reasons that NFL didn't fine Broncos more seriously is that McDaniels and his coach staff didn't watch the tape Scarnecchia made, for example, your post here,

I might point out that, like McDaniels, Belichick never did watch the tape in question nor was he involved in the taping of it.

Now, you finally admit it's a moot point.
