When I first read this story, I was thinking that woman is partially to blame. I had a scary situation several years ago on the 81 in Syracuse. My girlfriends car broke down right in the middle of the lane, and there was no shoulder and the car wasn't moving anyway............It was just as if your car broke down on the top of the Skyway (it too was elevated).............I told her we have to get out of the car, or we are going to get killed. She said she's not getting out of her car. I got out and tried to wave cars over - it was around a curve and a perfect setup for a car to plow right into it..........Finally, after a close call, I never was so forceful with her. I got in there and yelled "Get the eff out of the car right now" and she finally relented. Before the cops came, we witnessed several close calls, and she thanked me for getting her out. She said she froze and didn't know what she was thinking. (Even the cop was scared like hell when surveying the situation - it wasn't until they got a huge truck with flashing lights and put it 100 yards in front of the car that we could all breathe a sigh of relief that nobody was going to get killed). Anyway, my reaction to the original story was just like with my girlfriend - get the eff out of a car that is sitting in the middle of an interstate!! bbb Posted January 28, 2010 Share Posted January 28, 2010 Are you talking about me, or this accident?............In my case, it was broad daylight Memorial Day weekend with cars going around a curve at 70+ mph..........No chance any of that helps..........The biggest problem was a large vehicle/truck with a car behind it..........The truck would see the problem car, switch to the other lane, and the car behind couldn't see it until too late...........Unbelievable nobody died. I have no problem with it if it helps paint a picture of his lack of responsibility AND character. Unfortunately, sometimes a person's purpose in life ends with being an object lesson for others to learn from. There is a lesson taught by both of these individuals that should be inherent in everyone. Pay attention while driving and get off the interstate if at all possible when you need to call for help. From all accounts I've read, she stayed sitting in her car while it was disabled in the middle of the traffic lane.........I'm not blaming her, but this is the same thing my girlfriend did, and she admitted that she had a brain freeze and that I might have saved her life by forcing her out of the car. I seriously never was so sure I was about to watch death (and the cop was that scared, too) as when our car was stuck in the middle of 75 mph traffic coming right after a bend. I wish this woman would have got out of her car and froze whatever she had to freeze off.........We all would have just had a good laugh about the idiot trucker who was watching porn and rammed into a car.
