So here is a look at Gailey's Head Coaching records at Georgia Tech, Dallas and Samford.

Georgia Tech (2002-2007)

Gailey's Record: 44wins, 32 losses (avg/season 7 wins, 5 losses)

5 years prior to Gailey (1997-2001): GT was 41 wins, 18 losses (avg/season 8 wins, 4 losses)

2 years since Gailey (2008-2009): GT was 20 wins, 7 losses (avg/season 10 wins, 3 losses)

Dallas Cowboys (1998-1999)

Gailey's record: 18 wins, 14 losses (avg/season 9 wins, 7 losses)

5 years prior to Gailey (1993-1998): 52 wins, 28 losses (avg/season 10 wins, 6 losses)

10 years since Gailey (2000-present): 83 wins, 78 losses (avg/season 8 wins, 8 losses)

Samford Bulldogs (1993)

Gailey's record: 5-6

5 years prior to Gailey (1988-1992): 37 wins, 21 losses, 1 tie (avg/season 7 wins, 4 losses)

5 years after Gailey (1994-1998): 30 wins, 24 losses, 1 tie (avg/season 6 wins, 5 losses)

In every case, the team Gailey coached was better before he got there and better after he left (you could argue the Cowboys are better now than when he left -- as there was the Campo mess in between).

I hate this move. What do Nix/Ralph/Skippy Brandon see in this guy????

Since a head coach is judged by their W-L record, why is this terrible? I think his numbers speak volumes, no?

I think comparing the record of the Cowboys coming off of 3 Super Bowl wins with the years they were in decline is about as asinine as it gets. Statistics without context is a giant pile of worthless ****.

What about the years everywhere else, minus the Cowboys?

You realize that the majority of players on GT were Gailey's players right??? And it's funny he brought up Stamford yet doesn't mention the NCAA Championship won at Troy. He also fails to mention the back to back division champs Dolphins where Gailey was the Oc that had a 22-10 record and then went 23-25 after he left.

I guess positve Gailey stuff didn't fit his argument.

Give it three years and it'll be billboard time again. A doomsday checklist with Guy, Modrak, and Gailey on it this time though. You guys can try to talk this up all you want, but this is a pathetic display of our "Inner Circle's" decision making once again.

Not just a terrible use of stats, but why the need to flat out lie on top of it?

Huh?? As your own stats point out, the Cowboys were NOT better after he left, they were WORSE. After he left, they had three consecutive seasons of 5-11!

You attempt to make a big stat-based point and then tell us to ignore the stats that prove the opposite?

Buddy is a good ole southern boy (Alabama) and Chan is a good ole southern boy (Georgia). Plus he'll be one of the lowest paid head coaches in the league ( Ralph & Ru$$ will love that).

:wallbash: but he dismisses that because they are arguably better now - 10 years later! :D

You can't make stuff like this up.
