LGB Posted January 6, 2010 Share Posted January 6, 2010 cannot see it happening. first off, the NFL is smart enough to know that it needs the culture and character that small markets , (with a fan base) have. they do not want to be major league baseball , where all you have are the same big markets competing every year. secondly, i think the ralph is a great venue for football. television likes the snow, personally , i feel the bills and the area should market the ralph like what they do with lambeau. it was the site of the greatest comeback and other games. the area has to stop with the inferiority complex and start thinking, be proactive. The Bills have not had a problem selling tickets yet, but the stadium lease is up soon and the Bills will likely be looking at taxpayers to help upgrade the stadium. Moving games to Canada was done for a reason. It is all about the math - so three things appear to be on the horizon with the stadium lease being number one, the Toronto agreement expires and then there has been no provision that I know of to keep the Bills in WNY in the event something happens to our 91 yr old owner. Majestic Realty Co. managing partner John Semcken said Tuesday the teams are among at least seven franchises the company is considering for a new stadium just east of Los Angeles. Semcken says the Jaguars and the Bills are at the top of the list because they play in small markets that tamp down their earning potential and because they have little hope of finding larger venues in their home regions. - I guess they're just kidding right? If Ralph dies in the next 2-3 years, it is hard to imagine someone paying $700m for the team and keeping it in a market with the lowest ticket price in the league. If he hangs on for 5 years, the Jags will probably be the team as their situation will be very desperate within that time. It all depends on when Ralph dies. People who pack a stadium in a near blizzard with a subzero degree wind chill to watch a meaningless game may think this is not fair. For these people (us), these Sundays are a way of life...... And this billionaire punk thinks its fair to attempt to rip this team away from us. Why doesnt he go bother the NFL to add a couple expansion teams? As far as ticket prices go.... if the team is competitive, there is a lot of room to increase those prices.... Did anyone look at stubhub/ebay during the 1st 6 games last season? Yeah, internet tickets are a lot easier to come by once the winter weather arrives...and home tickets are priced at what the area can support, just like the tickets in Toronto or any other place are priced at what the market will bear...its all about the math. I doubt that the NFL will allow Buffalo to relocate, while teams like Jacksonville and St. Louis have severe attendance issues. Of course the league would allow Buffalo to move. The leagu is run by the owners, and the owners care about $$$. Do you think someone that cares about $$ would keep a team in a market where they have to be the lowest priced in teh league on order to sell tickets? If Ralph doesn't play ball with Semcken, who seems to have the dollars and desire to buy, in a year when the sale proceeds would not be subject to the estate tax, he's NEVER gonna sell! 2) Semcken is actually doing Bills fans a favor by being a reminder to Ralph that the wolves are at the door and that if he doesn't proactively make succession plan provisions, WNY will lose this team to another city. Second, do not wait to fight for the Buffalo Bills, BE LOUD AND BE OUTSPOKEN. Remember what they did to Cleveland, Houston, Baltimore, etc.? They supported their teams also. And don't act like it is a lost cause or it will be. That's three things. Whatever... The NFL was made by people like us. The owners got rich because of people like us.
