  1. Care to take a look and give us a quick analysis? The top dataset is white non-hispanic aged 0-17, inclusive. The bottom is black of any ethnicity aged 0-17, inclusive. Causes of death for all firearm codes 2018-2021.
  2. No, I mean black. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/12/01/metro/what-we-mean-by-black-girl-magic/
  3. Dropped off some paperwork at the DMV for our fleet guy last week. Pulled in right behind a brand new Dodge Journey that had an expired temp tag registered to a 1998 Honda. Black guy on the phone sitting in the driver's seat. Might as well have not seen it at all. I'm a half year from getting vested. ***** that. Sure hope that car didn't get into any accidents later on because it definitely wasn't inspected or insured. *Posted from a church parking lot with lots of shade
  4. I don't vote, and if I did I wouldn't vote for traitors. That said, the fact that Republicans are so snowblind they can't see what's right in front of them is why they're going to lose the White House this November. What exactly do you think is "winning" about this strategy? Do you think "never Hillary" voters give a ***** about whether Joe is a racist or not? Or black people, for that matter? Is pushing for a 2% increase in black Trump voters really the way to win this election? Let's be honest about it: Joe is right, black folks vote as a solid block. Black folks are why Prop 8 got passed in California and 90+% of them reliably vote blue every four years. Trying to win over a few of them is NOT how Trump can retain the WH in 2020. It just isn't. The only thing about this election that's more feeble than Joe Biden is the RNC's strategy to keep him out of Washington.
  5. Lot of simps in this thread. Shameful. As soon as this manipulative shrew managed to get one of her eggs fused with one of his sperm this man was in a no-win scenario. The law doesn’t favor him. The criminal justice system doesn’t favor him. The family court system doesn’t favor him. He probably had to put up with escalating abuse for years before a cop would ever consider seeing him as a victim (look up the Duluth model). Luckily he was able to get himself bloodied up in a non-life threatening manner and apparently there’s some video evidence too. Could he have stopped this sort of ***** way back when? Maybe. But the reality is the system is so twisted now that if he flexes an ounce of “self-respect” as its mentioned upthread there are lines and lines of simps, “counselors,” judges, and cops all trained to label him an abuser and enable her further manipulation of him by holding custody of his kid over his head. This man needs compassion, not a bunch of black pill platitudes.
  6. This is only a "racist cops" problem if race was actually the cause of this. But there's a compelling reason to believe it isn't. Rob briefly referenced this but there's good reason to believe that differences in police use of force by race is better explained by differences in crime rate by race. See table 12 (PDF warning!) https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cv18.pdf The NCVS excludes homicide since you can't exactly survey homicide victims. But the Justice Department's 2011 report is striking. See table 1 (PDF warning, again) https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/htus8008.pdf Not to mention that 38% of police officers that are feloniously killed are killed by black people. https://ucr.fbi.gov/leoka/2018/tables/table-42.xls If you accept the very reasonable premise that deadly force is most likely to be used by police when an officer either responds to a call involving violent crime or is, him/herself, the victim of a violent crime, then this becomes a very different discussion.
  7. Somewhat related: there's a poll out there conducted by gallup and, later, the AP that has asked black folks how well they think they're treated in their communities relative to white folks sporadically over the last 60 years. The percentage of black folks who think they're treated just as well as whites in their communities was lower in 2018 than it was in 1963. For those of you that are mathematically challenged, 1963 was one year BEFORE the civil rights act was passed. Objectively speaking, this cannot be a reflection of reality as it actually is.
  8. As a mildly insane non-voter, I'd say this is mostly true. The idea that the Dems are the only ones playing identity politics is false. The Republicans are just more of the wink and nod types. Point 2 is obnoxiously worded but I understand what you're saying. I don't think most people are thinking "can't let the gays or the blacks get more status" so much as "****, I like my life and don't want it to change." Since there is no thesis, that is where my commentary will end.
  9. Resurrecting this thread because I found this take on identity politics: While Juror presented his questions without commentary or thesis, there are many who would present those questions with the thesis "it's bad for straight white men to participate in identity politics" outright stated and the idea that it's ok for black folk, LGBT folk, etc. to participate in identity politics implied. My only commentary is this: if straight white men are beginning to act more "tribal," in the sense of voting as a group rather than as individuals and embracing identity politics, look for the Left and the "moderate" Republicans to start decrying identity politics loudly and with great fervor within the next few years.
  10. Some law requires law enforcement agencies to report such instances to the justice department. The law escapes me at the moment but the departments’ federal bux are tied to it. What the justice department does with that data...? Last I checked the CDC isn’t a private organization. I brought that up here because if “facts and info” were actually welcomed in this discussion (in general) differential outcomes in crime rates wouldn’t be either A: dismissed out of hand as irrelevant to the point of use of force incidents or B: dismissed as prima facie evidence that the police are racist. Because when you control for violent crime arrests white people (4 in 10,000) are killed more often by police than black people (3 in 10,000). Disproportionate use of force is predicted by disproportionate crime. Full stop. What causes disproportionate crime? A bunch of things that need a lot of work but as law enforcement officers cops are literally just there to enforce laws. Many departments also try to reduce crimes before they happen but strictly speaking that isn’t their responsibility. Law enforcement is reactive by definition. But if someone is going to tell me that racist policies are the cause of disproportionate crimes then you also have to tell me which policies cause 6.5% of the population to be responsible for 38% of murdered cops because I would be extremely interested in dismantling those policies. Literally benefits everyone. So let’s out with it already.
  11. How does it compare to Rebecca Black's seminal commentary on the inevitable passage of time, "Friday"?
  12. Really dude? The only bad things said about Obama were because he was black (ish)? Talk about selective hearing.
  13. A man comes home from work to find his pet bird laying at the bottom of the cage, limp. He rushes the bird to the emergency animal clinic and with one look the vet says, "yep, that bird's dead." The man says "how can you be sure? You only looked at her!" The vet sighs and says, "alright, we can triple check to be sure." The vet leaves the room and comes back in with a big black dog. The dog walks over to the limp bird, gives it a sniff and a lick, and sadly shakes his head at the vet before exiting the room. As soon as the dog left, in walked a kitten. He jumped up next to the bird and did the same thing, just shaking its head and sadly meowing at the vet before leaving. The man says, "wow, that's amazing, I guess you were right." When he leaves the secretary hands him his bill. The man bursts back into the vet's office and screams, "FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!???? All you did was look at my bird!" The vet says to him, "well if I had only looked at the bird it would have been twenty dollars, but the lab report and cat scan are extra."
  14. Nah man, black on black crime doesn't count Source?
  15. Lindsey Graham switches around so much I'm surprised his head is still attached. On a related note, in a sane society Lindsay Graham would have been dragged into the public square with a black hood over his head long ago. I mean seriously, you trust a guy who looks like this?
  16. Again, the disparities in the commission of violent crimes in white vs. black populations is well documented; that you can't separate that from a population number is your problem. If we go off of the commission of violent crimes, then blacks are actually underrepresented in fatal police encounters. As to sample size and statistical relevance, I think it's hard to say what would be an effective sample when police have millions and millions of encounters with civilians every year. As far as the factors that play into whether or not a cop pulls a trigger, again I'm not sure we'll ever have a good way to measure that because deadly force encounters happen very quickly and involve human minds that have been flooded with adrenaline and what have you. It's remarkably easy to not get shot by a cop. Millions of people manage to not get shot in their encounters with police every year. Close to half a million manage to not get shot while being arrested for a violent felony. The number of "bad" shoots is remarkably small, and those cops are dealt with accordingly (not with "paid leave" like Kaep and BLM like to say). Edited to add: if I recall correctly there were 30 shoots of "unarmed" whites in 2015, but again the use of the word "unarmed" can be extremely misleading to the point of useless. That was more the point I was trying to make by "qualifying" its use.
  17. And that's already been done, for anyone paying attention. But the people pushing the BLM narrative have no intention of understanding what is actually going on. You fail to realize that you've swallowed their narrative whole by even acknowledging that there might be a problem with homicidal maniac racist cops. The violent crime disparities between whites and blacks are well documented. In 2015 there were 987 fatal police shootings in the USA. Blacks made up 26% of those shootings. Of those, 36 "unarmed" black males were shot, though "unarmed" includes those who went for the officer's gun, were beating a cop with his own equipment, the results of accidental discharge during a struggle, and a bystander. If BLM and co. actually had a legitimate gripe with cops, you would know about the white guy in Tuscaloosa, Alabama who came at a cop with a !@#$ing spoon and was tazed and then shot. But that doesn't suit the narrative. So guys like Michael Brown (who clearly attempted to take an officer's weapon - an immediate deadly force response was needed) become household names because it's convenient for the narrative.
  18. I wouldn't say "blacks themselves" you !@#$ing racist. I would say that the culture that's been crafted in heavily black, poor neighborhoods has contributed a lot to this, and it's not just black males. When I worked in child welfare, a lot of the black males I encountered wanted to see their children and contribute positively to their lives. But the women that bore their children would do everything in their power to keep the children away from the fathers. Not to mention the number of women I met who have four children with four different surnames. It's trendy to blame black men but I'm not convinced they're even most of the problem, much less the entire problem.
  19. Again: why do we expect whites and blacks to have similar per capita outcomes for interactions with police when they don't have similar per capita numbers of interactions with police, don't have similar violent crime rates, and live in dissimilar neighborhoods when it comes to police presence?
  20. So do most cops. Now that body cameras have been implemented in many departments, I'm still waiting for all these videos of unjustified shoots of black folks I was promised
  21. Yes, to a black agender pansexual vegan. Hopefully that checks enough boxes.
  22. Now how many of those "slurs" are actually against black folk and not just being used by wanna-be rappers?
  23. So this "segment of the population" you were talking about is black septuagenarians?
  24. I saw "The Lobster" in theatres a couple of weeks ago. Kind of a black comedy/science fiction fusion. I enjoyed it quite a bit. If I can think of any others I've seen recently I'll pop back in.
  25. You know at least as well as I do that you can't reason someone out of an emotional position. And that goes for both "sides" of this ridiculous, weird, black-and-white (no pun intended) argument.
