  1. There's a sliver of farmland in the westernmost part of the Syracuse television market that is within the Buffalo-NFL blackout zone, so because of that everyone in the Syracuse market loses out. When the NFL expanded the blackout zone years ago, they were happy to find that fact out to justify the expanded blackout. In Syracuse, the Beginning II restaurant is know as the local Bills spot. It's in East Syracuse about 10 miles south of the closest Thruway exit 34A. I just checked the Time Warner Sunday listings, and the Syracuse day games are Giants-Bucs, Titans-Jets, and Dolphins-Chargers.

  3. Too bad London Fletcher lost his skills to play. Oh wait, he's still starting for the Redskins.
  4. Brooks wouldn't have the speed to stay with Watson either. The mistake was the coaches not adjusting and putting a faster player on Watson after the first TD, or moving a safety on Watson. Getting burned on the same play call twice in 5 minutes is the coaches fault.
  5. If they can't win when they play as well as they did for the first 55 minutes, then what can we expect when they don't play their best and the injuries start piling up.
  6. Poz has a broken bone in his arm, no info on how long he'll be out.
  7. I'd rather lose 41-3. At least then you don't have your heart ripped out again. This is what separates winners from losers. Winners know how to finish off a game with a lead.
  8. Ralph has standing orders not to waste any Gatorade. Any left in the cups is thrown back in the jugs for the next game. And don't ask about the hot dog wrappers you leave under your seats.

  13. And let's overlook that President Bush drove up the deficit with a huge tax cut for the wealthy that was not paid for with equal cuts in spending and are going to be paid for by (wait for it, it's a favorite of conservatives) our children and grandchildren, and that much of the spending in the past few months have been to stabilize the economy and banks that tanked before he took office. But I suppose you supply siders who like to be trickled on would rather we went into an economic depression, and then blame Obama for doing nothing.
  14. "The 33-second ad by the League of American Voters, which features a neurosurgeon who warns that a government-run health care system will lead to the rationing of procedures and medicine" "It tells the truth and it really highlights one of the biggest vulnerabilities and problems with this proposed legislation, which is it rations health care and disproportionately will decimate the quality of health care for seniors." These are not facts, there are no proposals in any of the bills that have come out of the committees that call for rationing. Therefore they were perfectly right to turn down this ad that lies about the proposals. They might as well have included death panels in the ad, since it's just as misleading.
  15. Like the repercussion of making a short term investment to prime the pump to increase demand which leads to increased production which leads to more employment which means increased tax revenue which means paying for the short term investment. That repercussion? Please stay away, we don't want people who mock the blind.
  16. Oh look, another dinner table speaks!
  17. What's Rudy going to do, bus the legislature to another state, like how he handled the homeless in NYC? Instead of solving a problem, just push them out of the way and leave them for someone else to help.
  18. You miss the big picture. If I buy a refrig because of a rebate that I wouldn't otherwise buy, it's stimulating the business, reducing inventory, and hopefully if enough people do it, could lead to retention or creation of jobs in the industry, thus helping the economy, and hopefully creating a job opportunity for me, so I can again pay taxes, which I'd gladly do. I'm still paying the majority of the cost of the refrig, but every bit helps make the decision easier. It's priming the economic engine. And since most if not all TVs are made overseas, that type of program wouldn't help our manufacturing base.
  19. Because I'm not a tight-fisted, hard-hearted bastard who's unwilling to pay taxes and allow it to be used to help those who are having a tough time. When I have it, I'm happy to contribute because I know someday I might need assistance, and I know what it's like to lose a job when the economy tanks like it did last year. And I don't know what a regrigerator is so I don't want one anyways.
  20. I'm just getting some of the taxes I paid for the past 25 years back to help me out when I need it. We were planning on getting new appliances and a new driveway when I got laid off. If not for the layoff, we would have already bought those things. I wouldn't begrudge anyone else, including you, of using my tax money to help out if you needed it. And I've never belonged to a union, I've always been a salaried employee.
  21. Correct. The score of the preseason games doesn't matter, what matters is how the 1st teams do against each other. And in the Bills case, they've been taken to school. I expect it to continue in Pittsburgh.
  22. The AG is bound to do what's right according to the law, not what's politically popular. Obama said he didn't think those who followed the rules of the time should be prosecuted. But what Holder is doing asking a special prosecutor to look at about 10 specific cases that went beyond the rules of the time. It shows that this administration isn't trying to tell the AG what they should and shouldn't investigate, which is the proper relationship between the AG and president. I don't think Holder has to worry about this White House pressuring him while he's sick in a hospital bed.
  23. I advocated an appliance program a couple week's ago. I just wish it included stoves, but for some reason they don't fall under the EnergyStar program. Someone told me an appliance has to use water in some way to be in the program. Our fridge and stove are over 15 years old and on their last legs, but we've been holding off since I'm unemployed. But we'll make the purchase if we can get a rebate.
  24. Nobody gets thrown under the circled bandwagons like the Buffalo Bills fans.
