  1. He should quit, have a ghost writer write a book about him, get speaking fees at partisan events, and get hired by a cable network.
  2. I'd say it's something to give credit to if, as the CBO scored it, it provides healthcare reform AND reduces the deficit. The opponents would have thought the CBO was accurate if it supported their claims, but now that it doesn't, the CBO is using 'fuzzy math'. Bottom line, it's the best objective estimate we have on its impact.
  3. In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said. The group plans to issue score cards for Congress members and be involved in the November election, although Thomas would not specify how. She said it would accept donations from various sources -- including corporations -- as allowed under campaign finance rules recently loosened by the Supreme Court. Her biography notes that Thomas is a fan of Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, author of "Men in Black: How the Supreme Court is Destroying America." "She is intrigued by Glenn Beck and listening carefully," the bio says. http://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-wor...0,6505384.story So her cause will be directly benefiting from the recent decision made by her husband. Interesting.
  4. Fortunately, the current administration, John McCain, and most military with experience with the tactic don't agree with Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, or those of you who think it's 'splashing water'. http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/feature/2007/11/09/nance “Anyone who knows what waterboarding is could not be unsure. It is a horrible torture technique used by Pol Pot and being used on Buddhist monks as we speak,” “People who have worn the uniform and had the experience know that this is a terrible and odious practice and should never be condoned in the U.S. We are a better nation than that.” -John McCain http://thinkprogress.org/2007/10/26/mccain-mukasey-torture/
  5. Howard should be the replacement on American Idol when Simon leaves. He would give the singers (and Ellen) a dose of reality.
  6. Obama said, "With all due deference to the separation of powers, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests -- including foreign corporations -- to spend without limit in our elections." That was a statement of fact of the consequences of the decision. If Roberts took it as criticism, then maybe his conscience over screwing up the Presidential oath was bothering him. And 4 of his fellow justices agreed with Obama when they dissented from the conservatives on the court. If he's that thin skinned, then he should pull a Palin and quit.
  7. Mickey Rourke is the main villain, Whiplash, in the upcoming Iron Man II. Oprah likes her because when they're together she makes Oprah look skinny.
  8. The Grapes of Wraith Goodfellas Casino It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum Saving Private Ryan The Deerhunter Apocalypse Now
  9. The giant mechanical tripods that the Martians planted deep in the Earth are starting to activate.
  10. It's the usual story with Darcy. While teams the Sabres will need to contend with in the playoffs, like New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Ottawa, make moves for the playoff run, Darcy says he doesn't want to sacrifice the future for the present. WTF? Miller is in his prime, now is the time to be bold and make moves to contend in the playoffs. The Sabres aren't serious about trying to win the Cup, they would rather have a team that is good enough to generate enough interest to sell regular season tickets from year to year. So we end up with a perpetual pretender and not a legitimate contender. That's why Hasek got frustrated and left. Imagine if we still had Drury, Briere, and Campbell on the roster in place of Kennedy, MacArthur, and Lydman.
  11. Bunning voted for the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy without demanding offsetting budget cuts, and voted for funding the Iraq occupation without asking how it's going to be paid for. But now he sticks it to the unemployed and the furloughed constructions workers to score political points with conservatives. Hipocrisy. I wonder how the Senate pension he's going to collect is being paid for.
  12. Hannah Storm was on The Sports Reporters last Sunday. She was showing plenty of leg and flirting with the guys with a little touch of the hand on them or the way she was laughing at their comments, it was so obvious. And she looks like she had some work done around her eyes. So I guess it's OK to flaunt it but not to comment on it. And every week near the end of The Sports Reporters, ESPN has one of their woman hosts do a standup saying what's coming up after the show, and they're always are wearing tight outfits with skirts or dresses above the knee. Hypocrisy.
  13. If it's a private matter, then he should keep it that way and not use the media to publicly air his statements. Go apologize to your family and employers in private. He wants the best of both worlds. I guess he didn't take Brit Hume's advice and convert to Christianity to solve his problems.
  14. All the crazy talk from the radical right was bound to influence someone on the edge. No surprise that he's in a state who's governor has talked about secession. Birthers, teabaggers, and the rest of the loons who think the gov't is taking away their freedom. If this domestic terrorist was a Muslim, they would be screaming about how weak Obama is on terrorism, but since he's a "normal" guy angry at the gov't and IRS, he'll be held up as an example of how the gov't can push people over the edge with its socialist agenda.
  15. The Beatles would probably be one choice, but a couple other possibilities are... The Doors - The Doors (would come in handy when I start hallucinating) Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (it would be good to hear women's voices)
  16. I liked it, and it's worth seeing, but it won't leave you thinking "Holy Sh%*" like when I first saw Alien. Part of that is because we are already familiar with the general storyline. I liked the makeup similarity to the Lon Cheney Jr. Wolfman. But I did guess the surprise twist fairly early on. And it did leave open the possibility of a sequel. I'd give it 3 out of 4 stars.
  17. “The idea was basically that wealthy people were exploiting others,” Drew says. “That this was the secret of their wealth, that they weren’t paying others enough for their work, and they were using and taking advantage of other people." That's just a fact. You would rather he was playing Frat Boy then debating economics in college?
  18. Given that Bill Clinton was the best president we've had in almost a half century, I'm sure alot of people wish he could still be president. But to use a football analogy, if you can't have Joe Montana, it's good to have Steve Young in his place.
  19. 1. Rudi Giuliani 2. NYC Mayor Bloomberg Hypocrisy (my bad for not using spellcheck). It wouldn't surprise me if many of the public who are complaining about the need to use military tribunals think that all the terrorists were tried in that forum and not in civilian courts, and that there are no terrorists held in our prisons. But why find out the facts when they can repeat the conservative talking points.
  20. Quiz: 1. Who said, after the Zacarias Moussaoui civilian trial and conviction, “I was in awe of our system. It does demonstrate that we can give people a fair trial.” ? 2. Who said, just 3 months ago, “It is fitting that 9/11 suspects face justice near the World Trade Center site, where so many New Yorkers were murdered.”? Under the Bush administration, almost 200 terrorists were convicted by the criminal justice system, and now reside in American prisons. Only three defendants were tried by military commission, and only one is still in custody, Ali al-Bahlul. The other two are free, having received five- and nine-month sentences, respectively. Where was the outrage from the right when this was happening? Hypocrisy (my bad for not using spellcheck).
  21. A timely article about Palin, her relationship with the MSM, how popular she really is, and comparing her to Reagan. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0210/32885.html
  22. As they said in Animal House, "Forget it, he's rolling". I find this History of the World Part I entertaining.
  23. Not bad, considering that on 1/20/2009 it was at 7949.
  24. Why do some countries drive forward on the right side of the road, and others drive forward on the left?
  25. I live a few miles from them. I feel bad for the workers who are out of a job on short notice. But in the last couple of years, we could tell that the quality of the food had gone down, and stopped going there last year.
