Things That Will Make Some Sick, But Will Happen
Jerry Jabber replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I stated if the Bills fail to address the QB situation and the playoff drought continues, then at that point, I can see the Pegula's bringing in an outsider such as Bill Polian or Tom Coughlin, two men that Terry Pegula has talked to numerous times in the past. At that time, the defense will be older, a lot of the veterans will either be gone due to FA or retire, so the new person in charge of football operations will undoubtedly make tons of changes, just like when Darcy Regier was fired from the Sabres and Tim Murray was brought in as the Sabres GM. If you don't believe that any of that will happen, then that's on you, but don't be surprised if it does happen. -
Things That Will Make Some Sick, But Will Happen
Jerry Jabber replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wrong. The last two years with Drew Bledsoe, the Bills had the #2 ranked defense and finished 6-10 and 9-7. In 2014, the Bills had the #4 ranked defense and finished 9-7 with Manuel and Orton. As the old saying goes "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it." The Bills have not had a consistently good QB throughout this draft. When are the people at One Bills Drive going to learn that it takes a consistently good QB to win in the NFL? So I take it you refuse to eat a bowl of crow if the Bills make it to 20 years with no playoffs? I don't have to be Nostradamus to know if the Bills keep going with sub-par/mediocre QB's that they will continue to miss the playoffs, especially with Tom Brady in the division. -

If the Bills don't get a good QB and make it to the playoffs within the 20 years, I'll gladly come on here and eat a big bowl of crow. If the Bills do not make it to the playoffs and the streak extends to 20 years, will you do the same? -

In order for the team to succeed under Whaley, as this is his final shot, the Bills are going to need to acquire a good QB somehow. The first option would be to trade for a aging veteran, such as Brees or Rivers. This option most likely would cost the Bills at least two 1st round draft picks, as well as other picks (maybe players on the roster as well). Second option would be to wait and see if Romo becomes a FA and go after him. Third option would be to trade for a team's backup that Whaley feels could turn into a good starter (something John Butler failed at with Rob Johnson). This option would cost a high draft pick and maybe more. The fourth option is through the draft. Failure to get a good QB will result in Whaley getting fired over the next year or two and possibly his hand picked HC. At that time, I suspect the Pegula's will reach out to either Bill Polian or Tom Coughlin, hire one of those two to oversee football operations and they will tear down the roster and start the rebuild. So, realistically, the playoff drought will extend to 20 years or more before the Bills finally make the playoffs again. Maybe by that time Brady will be retired. -
Rebuild Job or Not?

I either want the Bills to be a playoff team or at the bottom of the league to get high draft picks. During the playoff drought, the Bills have averaged drafting between 8-13 and what good has it done for them? Other examples are the Bucs and Titans. They sucked, got too draft picks and now have franchise QB's [Mariota and Winston]. And don't give me the crap that franchise QB's can be found in any round, because if that were the case, there would be 32 franchise QB's in the NFL.

Worked great for the Bills back in the late 80's and throughout the 90's after they went: 2-14, 2-14 and 4-12 from 1984-86.

Bills need to tank it like the Sabres. They've been doing the same things over and over and what has it gotten them, no playoffs for 17 years. Suck for a few years, load up on high draft picks, so you can be great for 10-15 years.

New Bills HC success/failure on Whaley's shoulders
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree 100% that the GM should be making the call. Russ is great with marketing and making money for the team, but he's been horrible with football operations. -
Pegula's do not know how to run a football team
Jerry Jabber replied to USABuffaloFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. The Pegula's are business people. Terry had to have a vision on his fracking business. Football while it is a sport, it is also a business and the owners should have a vision on what they want their team to be. If their vision is to beat the Patriots and be the best in the AFC East, then they need to build the Bills into a team that can do that. -
Perhaps Buffalo needs to Draft a competent Sports Media
Jerry Jabber replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's Bucky Gleason shooting his big mouth again "what do you do for a living?" What an imbecile! The media today was an outright embarrassment along with the Bills. They were like parrots asking the same questions "Caww, when did you know you're going to fire Rex...We're you involved in hiring Rex...We're you involved in firing Rex." Nothing was asked in the line of "how do you bridge the gap between the Bills and the Patriots?" If Taylor is not your guy, is there a QB you are interested in targeting via trade/draft? Is Manuel done in Buffalo? Your opinions on Cardale Jones' play on Sunday? The Buffalo media is a circus just like the Bills, they're perfect for each other. +1 -
Who do you want the Bills to be?
Jerry Jabber replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? Cause I could have sworn he got benched in favor of Savage? Does anyone really think the Texans are going to do anything in the playoffs? -
In today's end of season press conference, Whaley stated he was the Asst. GM when Marrone was hired. Whaley stated it was a committee that conducted the HC search and finalized the hire of Rex Ryan. Now, Whaley and Monos are in charge of this coaching search. So now the pressure is squarely on Whaley's shoulders for the Bills to succeed. If his hand picked HC is another failure, then at that time I imagine not only will the coach get fired, but also Whaley. I think at that time is when the Pegula's will finally clean house and make sweeping changes to the organization, something that should've happened when they bought the team. I hope this new HC works out because I would hate to see the playoff drought extend to 19-20 years, but considering how bad the Bills have been bumbling around (especially this week with Lynn & Whaley's media sessions), I have little faith that they will turn things around for the better.

I live in Northern VA and just finished watching the sports portion of the news. It seems there are a lot of concerns with Redskins fans and in the DC news that Cousins has played his last game as a Redskin as Cousins is looking for a big payday. If the Redskins don't resign Cousins and don't franchise tag him, do the Bills go after him knowing he'll want a hefty contract?

Bills are a joke of an organization
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After today's presser, it's even more apparent that Bills organization is a joke! They're going to have to create their most potent batch of Koolaid so far if they want to get the fans remotely interested for the 2017 season. -

You're exactly right! I thought they would have learned, but apparently not!

GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference
Jerry Jabber replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The reason why Whaley is leading this search is that the Pegula's can lay the blame on the Bills failure squarely on his shoulders when Whaley's hand picked HC fails. At that time, the Pegula's will fire Whaley and clean house. -
What new flavor of Koolaid will be created at OBD?
