Why We're Heading In The Right Direction
Jerry Jabber replied to HuSeYiN1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Boldin & their TE Pitta are good weapons. Torrey Smith showed flashes this past year that he can be a player, but the Ravens need another option at WR and a better kicker. IMO, the Pats got lucky beating the Ravens, but sometimes that's what you need. -
If the 1st round pick isn't a DE or OLB, I'd rather it be spent on a LT.

Last known WWI Veteran dies at 110
Jerry Jabber replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My Great-Grandfather served in WWI and died in 1983. It's sad hearing that there are no more WWI vets around. I always found this story from WWI to be very interesting: http://blogs.smithsonianmag.com/history/2011/12/peace-on-the-western-front-goodwill-in-no-mans-land-the-story-of-the-world-war-i-christmas-truce/ -
If Evans gets cut do you want him back
Jerry Jabber replied to ALLEN1QB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives

There are a bunch of factors, including Spygate you could use. When the Pats won their 3 superbowls they had: Romeo Crennel as their DC Charlie Weiss as their OC Scott Pioli as their GM Thomas Dimitroff as their Asst. GM Corey Dillon as their RB IMO, those are all important factors on why the Pats haven't been as successful.

I'd rather see a band actually perform live instead of lip-syncing. Plus, I'd rather see a 30 something Fergy move around, than a 54 year Madonna moving around on the ground. -

This halftime show is one of the worst I've ever seen. It's painfully obvious Madonna is lip-syncing this. Plus, the music sucks!!! -
As of right now, the Bills have 9 draft picks for the upcoming draft. According to Chris Brown from buffalobills.com, the Lynch trade could bring the Bills a 5th rounder, plus with the loss of Posluszny, the Bills could get a compensatory pick (making it 10 total picks): "The Bills got a fourth-round pick in this years draft for Lee Evans from Baltimore. As for the Lynch trade it was a conditional sixth-round pick that could become a fifth-round pick. From what I understand the chances are good that it will be a fifth-round pick, but because it is a conditional agreement, those conditions agreed upon by the two clubs must be confirmed by the league as being satisfied. That has yet to happen. Additional information here

Wish the Bills shared Ozzie Newsome's philosophy
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. The Bills have wasted too many 1st round draft picks on RB's & CB's, and let good defensive players like Pat Williams, London Fletcher and Takeo Spikes go. -

Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wrote this pretty much bashing the organization as a whole for the past 10 years. Even though the last time the Bills had a great defense was under Donahoe (by bringing in Sam Adams, Takeo Spikes and London Fletcher), he failed to resign Pat Williams and let Dick LeBeau go. I would have loved it if the Bills kept LeBeau as their DC. Marv Levy hired Jauron and let Jauron have his way with the defense the Bills ran and most of the draft picks. The Tampon 2 defense sucked. Smaller, faster players on defense only work in warm weather cities or cities with domes. Levy got rid of Fletcher & Spikes, drafted Whitner over Ngata. Jauron sold the Bills FO on Maybin, and Brandon drafted Maybin over Orakpo/Matthews/Oher. While Boss Hogg & Cooter have been working on the interior of the D-line (because they sucked against the run), they have failed to address the pass rush (as of yet). The Merriman experiment has been failing miserably so far. I expect the Bills to add 2 pass rushers, but IMO, that is not going to be enough. -

+2. Even Boss Hogg stated "You should draft 1 or 2 corners every year". Wrong philosophy IMO. If you have a great pass rush, then you don't need to have a great secondary. If the opposing QB has all day long in the pocket to make a pass, eventually someone on offense will get open (as we've seen from the Bills for years now). -

Kyle Williams had surgery to remove a bone spur (that he played through his entire college career) that was cutting into his achillies tendon. It's not like he ruptured his achillies or had similar problems like Merriman has. -
http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2012/2/3/2767187/ravens-biggest-positional-need-heading-into-next-season "One of the issues brought up and discussed was what the Ravens need to do from a personnel stand-point to get over the "hump" and into the Super Bowl. When this question was raised, Ozzie Newsome had this to say: "I think you have to start with the offensive line. We were able to get 'Big Mac' [bryant McKinnie] in here late in August and get him to play. He played every snap on the offensive side of the ball, which is incredible. We are going to have to build on the offensive line. I think we will still build at the receiver spot. I think we'll work there. And, you don't ever have enough pass rushers. So, if that guy is there, we'll entertain that also." I know the lack of a pass rush has been talked a lot this past season, but IMO, the pass rush should have been addressed years ago. With playing against one of the best QB's to every play the game (Brady) twice a season, the Bills should of had the exact philsophy as Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome ("And, you don't ever have enough pass rushers. So, if that guy is there, we'll entertain that also"). It has blown my mind that it has finally took this long for the lack of a pass rush to stick out like a sore thumb to Bills management/coaches. Schobel was a good pass rusher, but the Bills needed more guys to compliment him. Kelsay is a very hard working player and will play any position the coaches will ask of him, but he's not even an average pass rusher. Jauron wanted Maybin and convinced the Bills FO to take him, because of his quick first step. IMO, Maybin only had 1 good year in college and was too small to play DE. IMO, the last good set of OLB's the Bills had were Angelo Crowell and Takeo Spikes. IMO, I think Dareus & K. Williams have the potential to be the best DT tandem in the league. But, if the Bills want to beat the Patriots and win the division, then they need 2 DE's and two OLB's that can get consistent pressure on the QB.

Fitz Has Possibly Had A Broken Rib Since Toronto?
Jerry Jabber replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to this article, Fitz's play went down after his contract extension: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82650f2f/article/bills-qb-fitzpatrick-suggests-team-wasnt-ready-to-be-successful "Like his team, Fitzpatrick started the season on fire. He passed for 1,739 yards and 14 touchdowns while giving up just seven interceptions and compiling a passer rating of 97.8 during those first seven games. Then, as the team was peaking during October, Fitzpatrick signed a six-year, $60 million contract extension. The Bills and Fitzpatrick both took a nosedive shortly after the deal was reached. During the ensuing seven-game losing streak, Fitzpatrick compiled a passer rating of 66.2 and was picked off 12 times while throwing for just eight scores." I'm not saying it's the same thing as the hit Edwards took from Adrian Wilson, but I don't think Fitz's new contract had anything to do with his play going down either. I think it could be a combo of things: the hit to Fitz (which we'll never know), plus with all the injuries to the WR corps, Wood & FJ, and a crappy defense. -
Fitz Has Possibly Had A Broken Rib Since Toronto?
Jerry Jabber replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/1/24/2729761/ryan-fitzpatrick-rib-injury-redskins Today, an article from NFL.com stated Fitz's performance dropped off after his contract extension. IMO they're off base with that. Buffalo Rumblings put together some interesting figures with Fitz's stats before the London Fletcher hit, and after the hit: "Here are the facts of the matter: before that hit, Fitzpatrick was completing 67 percent of his passes at 7.6 yards per attempt with a 13-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio. After the hit, he completed 59 percent of his passes at 6.2 yards per attempt with an 11-to-16 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Before the hit, the Bills had scored 198 points in 6.5 games of football; they scored 174 in the final 9.5. You tell me, Bills fans: is there something to this?" -
Right now, the Bills have 2 elite players on the team: Fred Jackson and Kyle Williams. Possible elite players: Marcel Dareus and CJ Spiller. The Bills need much more "elite" talent on this team (especially at DE & OLB) if they want to compete in the AFC East against the Pats, and be a legitimate contender.

Lee "the magician" Evans....hes dissapeared
Jerry Jabber replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 Evans had 2 1000+ yard seasons. For a #1 WR and a #1 draft pick, I don't consider Evans to be "great" either. -

Ouch!!! That is painful! Harmon makes that catch & the Bills play the Broncos in the AFC Championship game (would have been 2nd consecutive trip to the AFC title game). -

Jerry Jabber replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The announcers on the CBS post game show said that Evans let up on the play once the ball was in his hands. That's a mistake a WR does early on in his career, not at the stage Evans is in. For those saying it should have been a catch/TD, it's the same rule that applies when a receiver catches the ball, gets his feet in-bounds then goes out of bounds, the receiver has to maintain possession all the way through. Evans & Cundiff blew it for the Ravens! Both should be cut ASAP. The Pats got lucky today and I hope they get destroyed in the Superbowl.
