Don't get me wrong, all of your points are valid. But the Pats are not the dominant force they used to be. -Yes Belichek is a great coach, but as a GM, his drafts haven't been nowhere near as good as they were when Pioli & Dimitroff were in charge -The Pats haven't won a Superbowl since Crennel & Weiss left -The Pats defense is bad, especially their secondary. Only time will tell if their draft picks this season will pan out. -The Pats lost 2 players on their O-line this offseason. This could be a huge chink in the armor, as Brady could take a pounding this year. -The Pats have no running game. -(see the above comments for the rest, don't want to sound like a broken record like the troll on here) Is it possible the Pats could win the AFC east again, absolutely, the odds are in their favor. But, is it definite that they will, like others in the media think so...No!!

See the bolded words, "could have been". You keep making up excuses. How many playoff wins did the Pats have between 2008-2011 "zero". How many teams did the Pats beat with a winning record in the regular season last year (actual record, not hypothetical) "zero". I keep making less sense? You're just like a broken record. The Pats got lucky last season. Their O-line is a mess, their secondary sucks, how did your beloved Pats get better? How is the Pats O-line going to do against the Bills front 4? Everything I stated was an actual fact, on the other hand, the points you made were all hypothetical. "If so and so won, they woulda been..."

Sometimes, teams get lucky. Whether it's the schedule, the ball bounces right for them in games, or whatever the case is. Luck does play a part in sports. Sometimes it's good to be lucky. Considering the Pats didn't win any playoff games between 2008-2011, and their O-line is in rough shape, if the Pats can repeat the success they had again this season, then I will give them all in the credit in the world.

The Pats beat teams that .500 winning record at best during the year, that is not great by any means. You calling the Bills win against the Pats "a fluke" is hilarious. While you say it was Brady's worst game and it was all his fault, the Bills game plan on defense was to push the pocket in so Brady couldn't step up into his throws and the Bills defenders made sure to get the arms & bodies in Brady's throwing lanes. They happened to do the same thing against Mike Vick & last year's the offseason Superbowl champion Eagles. Fitz had 2 INT's as well, plus the pats blew a 21-0 lead, so keep the excuses coming. Want to talk about bad calls? Check this out: http://www.billsdaily.com/articles/1998/nep2.html

"Commen sense"? So, you've just admitted they beat a bunch of mid-tier teams. The rest was should of... could of... would of... The Pats had a huge horse shoe up their azzes last season (meaning they got very lucky making it to the Superbowl). Since the Pats last run at the Superbowl in 2007, they didn't win a playoff game up until they played Timmy Tebow & the Broncos in the playoffs. The Bills beat the Broncos 40-14. The Ravens beat themselves in the AFC Championship game. Bottom line, the Pats winning the AFC east this year is not automatic. If the Bills stay healthy, plus with the pats having 2 O-linemen retire, Brady WILL take a pounding, and the result will be similiar to what the Giants did to them in the Superbowl.

And how many Bills players were injured by the time they played Miami? Since it's obvious you're a big Patriots fan, how many teams did they beat with a winning record last year? So if the Bills win against the Pats was a fluke, then the Pats making it to the playoffs and going to the Superbowl was a fluke as well.

Thank you! People are failing to realize that Brady could possibly take more of a beating this season than before, as 2 of his offensive linemen have retired recently. While we worry if Fitz goes down, the team will suffer, the same can be said if Brady gets hurt or goes on IR. The Pats do not have the defense to carry the team if something were to happen to Brady.

Every dynasty comes to an end. The Bills great dynasty of the late 80's-early 90's came to an end. While the Pats have been a very successful team since Tom Brady took over for an injured Bledsoe, they're not the team they once were. The Pats had a lot of turnover from their Superbowl victories: GM Scott Pioli, Asst. GM Tom Dimitroff, OC Charlie Weiss, DC Romeo Crennel. Since all these guys left, the Pats have not won a superbowl, and they've missed on a lot of draft picks. While the Pats have a great offense, but their defense is terrible. Some on here say the Bills win against the Pats last season was a fluke, just because Brady threw 4 INT's, Fitz had 2 INT's himself and the Pats blew a 21-0 lead, but that doesn't get mentioned. I guess according to these naysayers, losing by 3 points to the eventual Superbowl Champs [Giants], last year was a fluke as well. Guess the Bills were lucky to be in that game as well By those standards, the Pats win against the Ravens was a fluke since Lee Evans didn't have a death grip on the ball in the end zone, and the FG kicker blew an easy FG. The Giants proved twice in the superbowl that a great defense can beat a great offense. Not only are the Bills going to have a much better defense, but a much better offense as well. IMO, the Bills can compete this year for the division title, what will hurt and/or possibly derail them is injuries to key players. Injuries crippled a promising start to last season. People forget that Belichek was doing horrible in NE before Brady came in for Bledsoe. Once Brady retires, the Pats dynasty will be truly over. As for now, the Bills are catching up, and could be taking over sooner than expected.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/19731181/two-bills-drive "Now let's get something straight: I'm not saying the Bills are going to the top of the AFC East, because they're not. New England is." "That's the idea now in Buffalo: Squeeze the pocket, hurry the quarterback, force the turnovers and shorten the field for Fitzpatrick and the offense. Oh, yeah, one more thing: Catch New England. No, I don't see the Bills doing it, either, but I do see them winning more than they lose and maybe, just maybe, returning to the playoffs." It seems that these so called experts in the media think it's automatic to crown the Pats every year as the AFC division champs. Now, don't get me wrong, the Pats have been division winners for a while now. They have Tom Brady, who is arguably the best QB of our generation, as well as making it to the Superbowl last season. But, they're not the dominant force that they once were when they won 3 superbowls. Let's look at last season. The only team the Pats beat with a winning record last season was the Ravens in the AFC Championship game. IMO, the Ravens "shot themselves in the foot" twice in that game. Next, the Bills snapped the 15-game losing skid to the Pats. Now I could see the media's point if the Bills didn't win that game that you could assume the Pats would win the division, now you can't make that assumption. Last year's defense was terrible under George Edwards, in which they gave up tons of yards and points to opposing offenses, but yet, they beat the AFC champs. Now, add in one of the better defensive coordinators in the league [Wannstedt], plus the additions of Mario Williams, Mark Anderson, a returning & healthy Kyle Williams, along with Marcell Dareus, not only do I feel a wild card spot if possible, but winning the AFC East is a very good possibility. The Giants showed twice in the Superbowl that pressure is the key to beating Brady. The Bills beat Brady last season, just by shortening the pocket and getting hands up in the throwing lane. Now, Brady will have to face the same similiar type of pressure twice a year that the Giants gave them in the Superbowl. On top of that, the Pats had 2 Offensive linemen retire during the offseason, that's another reason to believe that the Pats aren't the invincible force that they used to be.

I think we're stuck with Thigpen & VY until the end of the season. My hope is the Nix & Co either draft a backup QB, or get a solid backup in FA.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Report: 8/4/2012
Jerry Jabber replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As always, another fantastic report! Thanks for the hard work you've been doing, it is appreciated very much!! -
I'm wondering if Fitz is throwing these pick-6's after the D-line is chasing him out the pocket? If the Bills D is as good as we hope it is, I'd rather Fitz make these mistakes now in training camp/preseason, than in the regular season when it really counts.

Thanks for the report & pictures!!

I have my good & bad days. I got a good rating from the VA, but I would trade it in for a perfectly healthy body again.
-
I had a bad foot & ankle injury. I can still chase the kids around, but that's the extent of it, I can't run miles at a time like I used to when I was on active duty. Did you just retire this year? Thanks as well!

OOH RAH!! Congrats on a successful career! I tried making it 20 years, but got medically separated after 8 1/2 years. Thanks for the report from camp!
