Marcus Easley....the new James Hardy
Jerry Jabber replied to K-Gun10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In regards to the amount of dropped passes, I compare him to Josh Reed as Reed had a ton of dropped passes in his first four seasons as a Bill. Easley is a big, physical WR, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy, and has been too inconsistent. -
From what I've been reading from camp, Asper is constantly getting yelled at by the O-line coach, and doesn't look good so far. Was Jasper doing worse than him?

I agree that you have to be a moron to get into a fight at a sporting event...period. But, with being an out of town fan, I know from personal experience that some "hometown a-holes" are the one's starting the problems. I've seen fights at the Verizon center in DC between Caps & Sabres fans. Also, I had an A-hole try to run me off the road after Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals in 1998 when he saw my Sabres jersey. It's one thing to give an opposing fan a hard time about their team, but some retards take it way too far.

Hopefully it's a reverse of the trend prior to Nix taking over as GM, where our 6th and 7th rounders, plus the UDFA's panned out, and our top draft picks were terrible.
-
Damn!! I was hoping he'd at least make the practice squad and would eventually develop into a solid player down the line. It sounds like Asper is doing bad and could get cut soon as well.

Just got back from my trip to Buffalo. I took the family to the game on Thursday, which was my kids first NFL game. We went with a couple of friends, so it was nice to have our own group there. We didn't do any tailgating, I wasn't sure if people were gonna tailgate with it being preseason. We sat around the 2-3 yard line on the Bills side at the end where the jumbotron is. All the O-linemen & D-linemen are huge. The biggest one was Jasper (both tall & big). Kyle Williams arms are humongous. I think there was about 4-5 fights in the stands (in the endzone near us), involving Bills/Redskins fans. The last one, about 20 security guards surrounded a group of about 4 guys, and the guys didn't want to leave. One clown ended up taking off his shirt during this. The main guy (who was a big guy) decked a security guard, then got his azz beat by the rest of the security guards (his friends fought the securirty guards as well). In total, I think I saw 20+ people being taken away in handcuffs just from that section alone. I had to tell my kids that whenever they go to sporting events when they're older, don't get drunk and act like a moron like all those idiots did. It's a shame that people have to act like azzholes at sporting events. I saw a Redskins fan about ready to take a leak in the sink, and asked him "Are you serious?", then he replied "This isn't a urinal?", no schitt sherlock!!! Besides the fights, and the people behind us dropping the "F-bomb" a bunch of times, I would take my family again. I wouldn't mind being a little higher in the 100 section so I could get a better overall view of the field. But, I definitely wouldn't sit in the endzones (especially by the jumbotron). I'd love to go back for a regular season game and tailgate.

Once a smaller, speedy player, like Evans & Price loses that speed, it's downhill quick.

I have to chalk up the bad pass interference call under should of, could of, would of. The Pats would have won if it wasn't for that bad call, The Bills could have beat the Pats if McKelvin took a knee, The Bills should have beat the Pats if Jauron went for a FG instead of running the ball on 4th & 1 and got stuffed. IMO, the Bills got the biggest screw job in 1998 when Flutie overheard the Ref say "just give it to them", even though the Pats player was short of the first down marker & landed out of bounds, then the Bills get a bogus Pass Interference penalty on a Hail Mary pass (which never gets called on a Hail Mary). But, as far as the offseason acquisitions go, plus promoting Wanny to DC, we all have to wait & see how it turns out on the field.

Alpha, IMO, you can't say that Brady's 4 INT's were a fluke. By saying that, you mean that the defense had no involvement in causing those INT's & those were just errant throws on Brady's part. I don't know about the first 3 INT's (as I don't have access to the highlights from that game), but the 4th INT was caused by Dareus as he perfectly timed his jump when Brady threw the ball, which nailed Dareus & caught I believe by Florence who went in for the TD. I am interested in finding out how many of the first INT's were deflections from the Bills D or was Brady under pressure.

By looking at their schedule, I can see 8 teams that I feel the Pats will beat: Titans, Cardinals, Seahawks, Rams, Colts, Dolphins (twice), and the Jaguars (or as Ray Bentley says: the Jagwires) Here are other teams where I feel these games could go either way: Ravens, Broncos, Jets (twice), Bills (twice), Texans & 49ers. For the Pats homers on here, read this: http://m.espn.go.com...st&id=45634 "FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Offensive linemen are dropping like flies around New England Patriots left tackle Nate Solder. Veteran free agent Robert Gallery retired over the weekend. So did Matt Light. Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins (knee) is on the physically unable to perform list, and fellow guard Brian Waters' playing status is still to be determined. Right tackle Sebastian Vollmer also is dealing with a back injury, leaving Solder as one of the few starting and healthy linemen from February's Super Bowl team." IMO, the Ravens beat themselves in the AFC Championship game as they had 2 costly gaffes in their final drive. They still have a great defense, even though Terrell Suggs will miss some time due to his injury. Broncos, adding Peyton Manning, plus a good defense will give the Pats a lot of trouble. Jets, even though they are a dysfunctional mess, they still have a very good defense and always play the Pats tough. Bills, (see all the other points on the thread about the new defense, etc...) Texans, Wade Phillips transformed the Texans' defense into one of the league's best this past season. If key players stay healthy, they have a great shot at beating the Pats. 49ers, another team with a great defense, and good offense. With all the holes on the O-line, these 8 teams will be able to generate a ton of pressure on Brady this year. If Brady doesn't release the ball within a matter of 2-3 seconds, he's going to take a serious pounding by these 8 teams alone (not counting the above 8). I'll predict the Pats win at least get 8 wins. I'm not saying they will be 8-8, but they won't be 16-0 either. I still feel as long as the Bills can stay healthy, they will have a legitmate shot at winning the division title this year. Beat me to it!

Thanks for the post! I'm really looking forward to seeing what our D-line will do to their O-line & Tommy Boy.

I agree. I know it's just preseason, and it doesn't mean anything, but I want the Bills defensive front 4 to ruin RGIII's preseason debut. It's not that I don't like RGIII, I actually do, but he has been so overhyped even before the draft, I just want to see the Bills do the same thing to him that they did to Jay Cutler last preseason. ESPN's NFL draft coverage should have been renamed to the RGIII coverage, since that's all they talked about all the days of the NFL draft.

I agree that the final game against the Pats was more like a preseason game, in which the coaching staff was evaluating players. If I'm not mistaken, I think Chandler either got hurt or didn't play in that game. Fitz's 5 main weapons on offense this season (and last season) are going to be (no particular order): Steve Johnson, David Nelson, Scott Chandler, Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller. So with missing a lot of these guys, plus Eric Wood, it was too much for the Bills to overcome. IMO, a healthy Bills team can compete for the AFC East division title this year, but, if the injury bug hits again, then the Pats will be the clear cut winner.

Like billsfan89 pointed out, the Pats O-line has many holes, especially with 2 O-linemen retiring this offseason. If the new Bills D line is as good as it appears to be, then the Bills will get a lot of hits/sacks/pressure on Brady. Once this happens, Belichek will have to double team at least 2 to 3 players on the D-line. If it's 2 players double-teamed, then that leaves 7 Bills defenders covering 4 Patriot players. If it's 3 players double-teamed, then that leaves 7 Bills defenders covering 3 Patriot players. Now who doesn't like those odds? While Belichek hit home runs drafting Gronk & Hernandez, his defensive picks have not panned out so well. We'll have to wait and see how well Belichek's picks turn out before we say they improved.

Alpha, You have valid points, but the improvements you talk about with NE can be said about any team, right now these improvements look good on paper, but nothing has been proven on the field. While everyone knows the Pats are the favorites to win the AFC East, people (like Clark Judge) shouldn't automatically come out and say that they will definitely win the division for sure. For example, before the 2011 season began, how many people expected the Bengals to make the playoffs last season? To add to that, after the Steelers went to the Superbowl, how many people expected the Ravens to beat the Steelers twice and win the division?
-
Don't get me wrong, all of your points are valid. But the Pats are not the dominant force they used to be. -Yes Belichek is a great coach, but as a GM, his drafts haven't been nowhere near as good as they were when Pioli & Dimitroff were in charge -The Pats haven't won a Superbowl since Crennel & Weiss left -The Pats defense is bad, especially their secondary. Only time will tell if their draft picks this season will pan out. -The Pats lost 2 players on their O-line this offseason. This could be a huge chink in the armor, as Brady could take a pounding this year. -The Pats have no running game. -(see the above comments for the rest, don't want to sound like a broken record like the troll on here) Is it possible the Pats could win the AFC east again, absolutely, the odds are in their favor. But, is it definite that they will, like others in the media think so...No!!

See the bolded words, "could have been". You keep making up excuses. How many playoff wins did the Pats have between 2008-2011 "zero". How many teams did the Pats beat with a winning record in the regular season last year (actual record, not hypothetical) "zero". I keep making less sense? You're just like a broken record. The Pats got lucky last season. Their O-line is a mess, their secondary sucks, how did your beloved Pats get better? How is the Pats O-line going to do against the Bills front 4? Everything I stated was an actual fact, on the other hand, the points you made were all hypothetical. "If so and so won, they woulda been..."
-
Sometimes, teams get lucky. Whether it's the schedule, the ball bounces right for them in games, or whatever the case is. Luck does play a part in sports. Sometimes it's good to be lucky. Considering the Pats didn't win any playoff games between 2008-2011, and their O-line is in rough shape, if the Pats can repeat the success they had again this season, then I will give them all in the credit in the world.
