Thank you! People are failing to realize that Brady could possibly take more of a beating this season than before, as 2 of his offensive linemen have retired recently. While we worry if Fitz goes down, the team will suffer, the same can be said if Brady gets hurt or goes on IR. The Pats do not have the defense to carry the team if something were to happen to Brady.

Every dynasty comes to an end. The Bills great dynasty of the late 80's-early 90's came to an end. While the Pats have been a very successful team since Tom Brady took over for an injured Bledsoe, they're not the team they once were. The Pats had a lot of turnover from their Superbowl victories: GM Scott Pioli, Asst. GM Tom Dimitroff, OC Charlie Weiss, DC Romeo Crennel. Since all these guys left, the Pats have not won a superbowl, and they've missed on a lot of draft picks. While the Pats have a great offense, but their defense is terrible. Some on here say the Bills win against the Pats last season was a fluke, just because Brady threw 4 INT's, Fitz had 2 INT's himself and the Pats blew a 21-0 lead, but that doesn't get mentioned. I guess according to these naysayers, losing by 3 points to the eventual Superbowl Champs [Giants], last year was a fluke as well. Guess the Bills were lucky to be in that game as well By those standards, the Pats win against the Ravens was a fluke since Lee Evans didn't have a death grip on the ball in the end zone, and the FG kicker blew an easy FG. The Giants proved twice in the superbowl that a great defense can beat a great offense. Not only are the Bills going to have a much better defense, but a much better offense as well. IMO, the Bills can compete this year for the division title, what will hurt and/or possibly derail them is injuries to key players. Injuries crippled a promising start to last season. People forget that Belichek was doing horrible in NE before Brady came in for Bledsoe. Once Brady retires, the Pats dynasty will be truly over. As for now, the Bills are catching up, and could be taking over sooner than expected.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/19731181/two-bills-drive "Now let's get something straight: I'm not saying the Bills are going to the top of the AFC East, because they're not. New England is." "That's the idea now in Buffalo: Squeeze the pocket, hurry the quarterback, force the turnovers and shorten the field for Fitzpatrick and the offense. Oh, yeah, one more thing: Catch New England. No, I don't see the Bills doing it, either, but I do see them winning more than they lose and maybe, just maybe, returning to the playoffs." It seems that these so called experts in the media think it's automatic to crown the Pats every year as the AFC division champs. Now, don't get me wrong, the Pats have been division winners for a while now. They have Tom Brady, who is arguably the best QB of our generation, as well as making it to the Superbowl last season. But, they're not the dominant force that they once were when they won 3 superbowls. Let's look at last season. The only team the Pats beat with a winning record last season was the Ravens in the AFC Championship game. IMO, the Ravens "shot themselves in the foot" twice in that game. Next, the Bills snapped the 15-game losing skid to the Pats. Now I could see the media's point if the Bills didn't win that game that you could assume the Pats would win the division, now you can't make that assumption. Last year's defense was terrible under George Edwards, in which they gave up tons of yards and points to opposing offenses, but yet, they beat the AFC champs. Now, add in one of the better defensive coordinators in the league [Wannstedt], plus the additions of Mario Williams, Mark Anderson, a returning & healthy Kyle Williams, along with Marcell Dareus, not only do I feel a wild card spot if possible, but winning the AFC East is a very good possibility. The Giants showed twice in the Superbowl that pressure is the key to beating Brady. The Bills beat Brady last season, just by shortening the pocket and getting hands up in the throwing lane. Now, Brady will have to face the same similiar type of pressure twice a year that the Giants gave them in the Superbowl. On top of that, the Pats had 2 Offensive linemen retire during the offseason, that's another reason to believe that the Pats aren't the invincible force that they used to be.

I think we're stuck with Thigpen & VY until the end of the season. My hope is the Nix & Co either draft a backup QB, or get a solid backup in FA.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Report: 8/4/2012
Jerry Jabber replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As always, another fantastic report! Thanks for the hard work you've been doing, it is appreciated very much!! -
I'm wondering if Fitz is throwing these pick-6's after the D-line is chasing him out the pocket? If the Bills D is as good as we hope it is, I'd rather Fitz make these mistakes now in training camp/preseason, than in the regular season when it really counts.

Thanks for the report & pictures!!

I have my good & bad days. I got a good rating from the VA, but I would trade it in for a perfectly healthy body again.
-
I had a bad foot & ankle injury. I can still chase the kids around, but that's the extent of it, I can't run miles at a time like I used to when I was on active duty. Did you just retire this year? Thanks as well!

OOH RAH!! Congrats on a successful career! I tried making it 20 years, but got medically separated after 8 1/2 years. Thanks for the report from camp!

For Rex & all the Jets fans that think the Bills should be shaking in their boots when Timmy Tebow comes in for the wildcat, watch this video: http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011122400/2011/REG16/broncos@bills?icampaign=GC_schedule_rr#menu=highlights&tab=recap "TeeeeeeeeBow, Ohhhhhhhh Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!" -

RGIII taking too many sacks
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you don't think it's relevant, considering the Bills are playing the Redskins in 6 days then good for you! -
Nice! I hope Wood & KW are able to come back 100% and can stay healthy. Thanks again!!

RGIII taking too many sacks
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You nailed it right on the head! The entire media is expecting everyone to auto-accpet this move. Your first round players are suppose to be impact players that stay on your team for around 10 years. With those picks, the Foreskins could have used them on O-linemen (which they really need) and/or other areas of need. Like you said Robbie G needs to be a first ballot HOF, because the Redskins gave up 3 draft picks, which essentially could have been 3 starters for them. Either way you look at it, the Foreskins are not going to the Superbowl anywhere in the near future, let alone the playoffs. Even if Robbie G turns out to be a good QB, this move sets them back years. If he turns out to be a bust, then this will set the Foreskins back more years than it did when the Bills traded for Bledsoe and when they traded draft picks for Loseman. I think the new Bills D-line will get 10 sacks before they exit in the 1st quarter. -
Thanks for the report uncle flap!! How did Kyle Williams & Marcell Dareus look out there today? Also, how did Wood look (in the limited amount of reps he got). Thanks again!

RGIII taking too many sacks
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree! IMO, if Robbie G doesn't work out, it will set the Foreskins back many years. A 2nd rounder, plus two 1st rounders is quite a lot of draft picks just for one player. On top of that, they wasted a 4th round draft pick on a QB, when they could have used that pick on the O-line or another position of need. So, we'll see how much of a genius Shanahan really is over the next few years. -
RGIII taking too many sacks
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying Robbie G a bust, I'm just saying if he doesn't take off running quick, he's gonna take a beating from the Bills D-line next week considering how bad the Foreskins O-line is. Remember, we had 10 sacks against them last season without Kyle Williams, Mark Anderson and Mario Williams. -
8/1 Camp Report (from Buffalo Rumblings)
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No problem!! It was great reading that he held the DE's in check all night, and was a road grater in the run game. -
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82afdd05/article/robert-griffin-iii-still-learning-reads-at-redskins-camp?module=HP11_headline_stack "Rich Campbell of the Washington Times notes that Griffin has "taken more than a few sacks" in training camp because he takes too long holding onto the ball. This is a common occurrence for rookies who still are learning to read NFL defenses, much less rookies in their first week of training camp." With the first preseason game one week away, this is music to my ears. I'm looking forward to seeing the Bills D-line get multiple sacks on RGIII next Thursday.

http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/8/1/3214271/wednesday-night-practice-the-prince-miller-show "Having read several pieces about how Chan Gailey is disappointed with Glenn, and having praised Glenn a lot in my Sunday report, I figured I should train my binocs on him a lot again tonight to see if I need to walk back my former assessment. Glenn did get screamed at by his coach at one point, although I couldn't figure out what he had done wrong. All I know is that when I was watching him no one got by him. Chris Kelsay, Mark Anderson and Merrman kept alternating with each other the whole evening, and Glenn held all of them off. Anderson seemed to give him the most trouble, causing him to back up and shuffle his feet quickly to stay in control, but Anderson never came close to Fitzpatrick while Glenn was on him. If that's a mediocre performance, I would love to see a good one. Glenn was also a beast in the running game. On one play he took out two defenders, holding off Merriman and then whirling to knock Kyle Williams off the field. Another run-block caused me and the guy sitting next to me to gasp in unison as Glenn pancaked Stephon Gilmore out of bounds to spring Spiller for a big gain. The other tackle who impressed tonight was Sam Young, who was up against Mario Williams and in general kept him in check except for one likely sack. There was a request after my Sunday report to check out Mark Asper and Michael Jasper. Both are playing with the threes - Jasper at right guard and Asper at center. Both essentially look lost . The practice squad seems likely for both."
