Actually I don't, whilst he has clearly shown more then EJ at this point of time, I think I've seen flashes in EJs game that make me understand the commitment by this organisation. It's a gamble for sure, but heh we're in la-la-land with this thread anyway.

Coming off that pre-concussion 5-1 start the year prior, having drafted 2 much needed offensive linemen, having drafted the much needed pass rusher, having signed TO and switching to a no huddle offense, there was defintely a strong pre-season hype going into the 2009 season; combined with lot's of discussion (mainly focussed on not getting a LT and on Maybin, TE didnt become Captain Checkdown till we got to see him in pre-season). I think that's where the OP is coming from. Bottomline is that we have way more talent on the roster and have no real gaping holes on the roster before we hit the preseason games and get to see a lot better if the team and talent is indeed where we believe it is at.

2009, let's face it, everyone thought Trent Edwards would be back to his 2008 pre-concussion form after the offseason. From his wiki: "Within the first 5 games, Edwards was sacked 18 times. Edwards' worst performance during this time period was week 4 against the Dolphins in which he recorded a season low passer rating of 51.0, threw for a season game-high 3 interceptions, was sacked 6 times, and recorded his only fumble of the season." That about sums it up for 2009. 2014, we're heading into the season trusting that EJ has developed and progressed as 2nd year QBs do plus we've added protection and weapons, whilst removing one of the main targets he didnt trust (SJ) (now we still need to ditch TJ). Can the season be an absolute disaster again? Sure, however it can just as well be an awesome season. I see more reason to be hopefull with the current roster then I was with the 2009 roster to be honest. We seem to have far more playmakers and talent on the current roster compared to 2009.

1. Sure EJ is a question mark, is anyone doubting that? But so are; 1a. Our o-line 1b. Yet another defensive scheme 1c. Our inexperienced WR core 1d. Our special teams 1e. Our OC 1f. Safeties other then A. Williams 1g. CB depth However people naming EJ a bust allready are either unrealistic, trolls or extremely pesimistic with regards to the Bills. In the end the team has all the pieces in place in order to succeed if everything falls our way and if injuries will be limited.

If you're reading this JW, I have a question that I've always wondered about. Do you get paid for interviews like this? Or is it just an honor thing?

Plus we have a roster QB wise where the most opportunity is to make it to the roster given last years performance. Offcourse an agent will advise his client to take a shot with us.

And for good reason, Geno Smith was the QB in that draft that was most ready to play right away. He always followed that up by saying he thought EJ had more upside. I don't get the Mayock hate, he's been right about our drafts for years. Sure he misses on players, but so do all the NFL teams so in that regard Mayock is as much an inside line to player evaluation we as TV viewers are going to get. For the record he was raving about our draft this year, consistently named us when asked who had the best draft so far as he did last year. Only pick he wasnt completly onboard with but still saw as a solid pick was the Preston Brown pick.

Who was reported to have thrown some really bad stinkers... One of which was posted in the Watkins caught everything thread (he didnt catch that one, even though he was able to touch it). We'll see, would be cool if he can make it as the teams 3rd QB, and grab 2nd QB spot next year (yes the Kurt Warner scenario), but don't underestimate Tuel. Tuel has actually played games last year and should have made major progressions during the offseason similar to what we expect out of EJ. Thad has been in the league a bit longer so I doubt he'll progress as much allthough he als got his first real game game experience last year. Having 3 QBs on your roster with actual NFL regular season playing time is worth a lot. They'll be prepared a hell of a lot better then some rookie if they are called upon on gameday.

The point is that EJ was drafted for his ceiling, for his potential, not for his floor or where he was at when drafted. He was a development prospect that wasnt suppossed to start till his second year. If he lives up to his ceiling potential it will be year 3 where he starts to excel. Consider last year a wash for that it was. Hopefully he learned from last season in a positive way and hopefully it didnt hurt his growth as that was the real risk with playing him last year especially with how it worked out. Not just his turnovers and accuracy, thing that had me worried most last year was his lack of reading/seeing the open options.

Bummer I like Kaufman his hands. Should have been a good NFL Europe project player, think he has a shot to make it to the roster somewhere guy just needs to get his shot/break like so many do.

He just got cut from the pre-cuts roster size of 90 and you think we'll bring him back to PS? For the record I really like Kaufman and think he can make it on the roster somewhere, he needs to get a break (like so many others do), would have been an excellent NFL Europe project player.

Lol we just released Allen, who by his metrics is the best RB we had... That's based on his metrics, obviously Alonzo has great vision and understanding of the game, which isnt measured on that site. It's basicly who has the best body kind of comparision, but says nothing about the minds.
