Top Three Draft Picks next year
KOKBILLS replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Personally I would like to see the Bills get a big WR, TE, and O-Lineman with the 1st three picks in order...Preferably with another trade down in the 1st to grab an extra 2nd or 3rd...While I agree with most that there are needs on Defense, I think the needs on Offense far outweigh those Defensive needs...I think we have more talent on Defense now, and maybe we can pick up a piece or two in order to patch up those Defensive needs in Free Agency...But in the Draft I would go Offense heavy if possible... Oh...And we need to re-sign Byrd...Not at any cost mind you, but losing him would open a big hole... -
Evans is going to be a bit overdrafted due to his size and his ability to use that size...He's not a speed guy...But I do like his overall potential a lot...I think he would fit in nicely with this group of WR's the Bills have...He would fill and immediate need...The Bills have nothing even remotely resembling Evans...Few NFL teams do...But I think if you're going to take him and expect him to be AJ Green, or Megatron, you're going to end up being a bit disappointed...If you're looking for a guy who will have a different-type impact...like that of say...a WR version of Jimmy Graham...I think Evans is your man... The Bills need all the help on Offense they can get...So I would be thrilled with Evans coming to Buffalo...He will cause match-up nightmares for Defenses in the NFL...He's super-athletic considering his size, and he'll go up and get it...Just don't expect him to be as elite as he was in College as an outside WR...Because I think his game will change/adjust in the NFL...I still think he's going to be very good...

No offense...But to be perfectly honest...and know upfront that I really like Russell Wilson dating back to his Freshman year at NC St...But using Wilson as an example for any size argument is not really a good rebuttal...As soon as you get past the height thing the entire argument falls apart... Wilson is, and has always been, one of a kind...He's super smart, has incredible natural instincts, he's a great leader, a great athlete, great person...etc., etc...There is only one Russell Wilson...And in the vast majority of other cases in the NFL size does matter...That's why Wilson, with a list of gifts and intangibles a mile long, was only a 3rd round pick...Odds were, even with his incredible make-up, he would struggle due to his size...That was just the odds though, and he's proven everyone wrong...But the next time you'll see a QB prospect like Wilson have this kind of success at 5-10 5/8...well...The last one before him was Flutie (Flutie measured 5-9 3/4...And I'm not counting Drew Brees who was 6-0 2/8 or Michael Vick who measured exactly 6 feet)...And Wilson is WAY better than Flutie was...So it's going to be a while... Anyway...Players like Wilson are one in a million...And not a solid foundation for an argument favoring taking a smaller player...
-
We'll see...There certainly will be a bigger market for him than there was at the beginning of this season...But I doubt much more...He can change that a bit with a big game vs. Miami...I'm cautiously open to him becoming the Bills long-term back-up if he continues to improve...There are things I like...But he's got to protect the ball better...

Top Three Draft Picks next year

Not as much anymore...If anything the top one's get over-drafted now...And Ebron will be a top one...He's a 1st round talent...He's a little raw, but the upside is serious with that kid... -
You're kidding right?
-
Agreed...I think that whoever is in charge upstairs...Whoever it may be...well...They LOVE Flutie...Look at his life...It's obvious...A 5-9 QB with that kind of career, and post playing success? Somebody upstairs loves that little guy a lot...And the Bills pissed that somebody off big time...

Is professional "coach speak" contagious?
KOKBILLS replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marrone really started to lose me with his comments after he cut Da'Rick Rogers...It was not so much that he cut him, which admittedly I disagreed with...But I also knew it was a good possibility Rogers would be cut...Anyway...Marrone's comments about keeping players "who's produced over a long period of time (when he kept only one WR with ANY real production over any period of time in the NFL)," or the classic "I'm a big believer on the production part of it right now rather than what are we going to get down the road..." Production? In week 3 of preseason? What was this guy talking about?...He really lost a lot of my faith in him with that stuff and it started with the Rogers decision...And to be honest I'm not too keen on where this thing has been going since then...I do however think the guy cares a lot...And he does seem pretty genuine in that way... We'll see...But it feels like we're going to see some serious "My way or the highway," in this coming offseason...And that would be fine if I just had more confidence in his way...He's got time to turn me back around for sure...And I certainly hope he's the right guy...But I have some serious doubts... -
The line for Lewis will be short...He's an ideal 3rd string QB for most teams because he can run the scout team well especially if you're preparing for a mobile QB...And he's a smart kid...He may be a decent back-up for a few other needy teams...That's about it...He's not going to command much in Free Agency...No team is going to view him as a potential starter...You can't sell Thad Lewis to any NFL fan base...

Fred Jackson's last game at the Ralph?
KOKBILLS replied to oman128's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Freddie is healthy he's back next year...There is no way the Bills would part way with him other than a health issue...He's WAY too valuable, a team leader, he's a bargain at his salary, and a great example for younger players... -
Should the Bills draft a LT and switch Glenn to LG?

How Much is Russ Brandon to Blame for Bills' Current Plight?
KOKBILLS replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously? You really believe that? -
How Much is Russ Brandon to Blame for Bills' Current Plight?
KOKBILLS replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The main issue I have with Brandon is that he seems to be convinced the overall talent of this roster is better than what I believe it to be...Otherwise though I genuinely like the guy and think he works hard at what he does... -
Murray's a great College QB...I enjoyed watching him at Georgia...But I don't like him projecting to the NFL...I never really have, and I've seen a ton of his games over the years...He's a shorter pocket passer and he does not have an elite arm...I just don't see a place for guys like him as starters in the NFL...But we'll see...I think the knee injury is really going to hurt his stock...He may be available late...
-
Exactly John...I told myself a while back that if he got hurt again...Especially if it was the knee...I would change my mind about Drafting a QB in 2014...My mind has officially changed...
-
I like Mettenburger more than Murray...But I would prefer a QB not coming off a knee tear...
-
I'm certainly not saying this is going to derail EJ's career...Just saying the Bills better start working on Plan B just in case...
-
I'm not a big Murray fan...He's on the short side, coming off an ACL that requires surgery, and does not have the escape skills of guys like Vick, Brees, Wilson, or Manziel...
-
OK...I'm officially 100% in on Drafting a QB in 2014 in the first few Rounds... I like EJ a lot...I like his potential and he's going to be here for a while regardless...But 3 knee injuries in one season? If that's not a red flag I don't know what is...Better to plan for the worst and hope for the best... And I'm not comfortable with Lewis, Kolb, or Tuel as anything more than back-ups...

Colts Elevate Da'Rick Rogers to the Active Roster
KOKBILLS replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would give you that theory on a more established team talent-wise than the Bills...When you are established, especially at the players position (WR in this case), then no question a team is going to lean to the guy with less issues at the time...Which I think played part in the decision to cut Rogers...This organization has been over-valuing the actual talent here for a while now...IMHO the Bills were in the perfect position to gamble a bit on Rogers with that 6th WR position...They had nothing to lose...They could always cut him later if he was not progressing...They simply had to show a little patience and lean heavy on the top 5 WR's...And yes it does matter that the Bills lack leadership at the WR position...I think the very presence of Reggie Wayne has made a big difference for Rogers...Reggie Wayne will not be outworked...And I doubt, even injured, he's going to stand for less than 100% effort from any WR on that team... And no offense, but anyone who thinks this team is better off this year with Hogan instead of Rogers is taking a bigger leap than the folks assuming Rogers will become a legit NFL WR...Especially considering the team is 5-9...No one would have noticed...In fact there is a better chance Rogers would have at least made a couple big plays by now given the opportunity...So maybe we would have noticed...And he's got all the athletic talent needed to run down the field and make 6 tackles in 14 games on ST's... This move was all about Marrone making a statement...He was not going to be flexible with Rogers and make an exception as a Rookie HC...And I do understand that is his way...It's his way or the highway right now...I get that... We'll see in time if it works to his advantage...My guess is had they worked with Rogers and turned him around the way Indy is attempting to do it would have bought Marrone a heck of a lot more respect in that locker room...Especially with the younger players...But we'll see...I could be wrong... -
For the record -- Manuel's rating today was 105.0
KOKBILLS replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Tampa game killed his rating...He was right around 82 before that...Which is certainly respectable for a Rookie QB...
