  1. .'m just not a big fan of Nkendiche...I could ignore a lot of the on-the-field stuff if he was clean off-the-field...But I think when you add them both together there's just no reason to risk it at #19...If he falls to #49 we'll see... No...I don't need to read the story...
  2. This is exactly it with Jones...Like just about every other Draft pick ever he's not perfect...But when he's good he's jaw-dropping good...And he's a player on the rise...The right pro coaching and the right scheme the sky is the limit...
  3. You're 100% correct...Thing is the Bills are now well aware of the fact that everybody knows this trend...That's why they stopped announcing visits...And a full year later I would not be at all surprised if they find other ways to do their due diligence, and are now looking to be a little more covert...It's just a guess on my part...
  4. OK...First, advocating for three consecutive 1st Rd picks in three years on two WR's just falls deaf on me...I think it's poor team building...And I don't think that Treadwell is worthy of that kind of gamble...That's not to say I don't think he's good...Time will tell of course...But with the holes the Bills have on Defense I think it's akin to team building suicide...And you open up potential Cap problems at WR in the future...Just makes zero sense to me... I think you have a point with Robinson...I'm not a huge fan of his...But...I have watched 6 tapes of Chris Jones...Every Down...3 times now...I feel like I'm pretty much a self-proclaimed Chris Jones expert...And...full disclosure...He's the guy I want the Bills to pick at #19...To be honest no one other than Sheldon Rankins gives me pause on that thought...I don't know how it's humanly possible to watch Jones and call him pedestrian...When he's using proper technique, using his hands, extending his arms, and attacking 50% of the O-lineman trying to block him he is virtually unstoppable...He has the ability, and shows it often enough, to explode off the ball and cause havoc in the backfield...He's 6-6-310 and runs a 5.0 flat 40...He could certainly get a little stronger...and he will...But 26 reps for a guy who has longer arms (34 1/2") than DeForest Buckner, who is an inch taller, is certainly not bad,,,He can play the 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 techniques, and has at Mississippi St... As I've said here before I know the knocks on Jones all to well...Here's the thing...EVERY prospect in this Draft has holes...Every single one...They can be nitpicked to death if that is your thing...But here's what I think about all that concerning Jones...He was the best player on his team...Certainly the best player on their Defense...When you look at a game like the A&M game they clearly had a plan for him...He was double teamed a lot in that game...They ran plays away from him constantly...But if you watch the La tech game, he's just a man among boys...Could he put more effort in to every play? Probably...Not going to deny it...But fatigue is a real thing in College Football...Especially when you're 6-6-310 and playing in the South...It happens...When he gets NFL conditioning, training, diet, etc...I think a lot of that stuff disappears because I see him still firing off the ball late in each game...He's showing effort at the line of scrimmage on most every play...He's a DT...He's not an OLB...He's not perfect...Not yet at least... The rest I see is technique and coaching...At times he's a little to willing to allow the O-lineman to get 100% of him initially...I'm pretty certain that's because he feels he can whip anyone physically, and that's definitely not good technique...But he still shows plenty when he does the right thing...I think any NFL HC will look at these stalemates and say they can coach him up in a heartbeat...Especially a coach with the last name of Ryan...I don't think he's the most instinctive player...He's not the worst either, and I have heard he's a hard worker and loves the game...He's just a little immature... What you get with Jones is a potential monster...I don't see him as a boom or bust at all...I think his floor is every bit as good as most DT's in this Draft...But his ceiling, if he puts it all together, is sky high...And lastly the Bills are looking for someone to work into that rotation and take heat off of Dareus...I think Chris Jones is picture perfect for that role...Give this kid to Rex and in a year or two he could be every bit as good as Wilkerson if he works hard and learns how to properly use what God gave him...
  5. Could be...I do have the feeling the Bills are being a little more covert this year knowing the word is out that they Draft guys who visit a lot... I'm definitely on board with Bandit on the Butler over Reed...Not sure about Rankins though...I agree he's a bit limited, but he's so disruptive, despite his size... I like Chris Jones better than any of them though...
  6. Yep...Bad football player...Sorry to hear he may be an equally bad person... I guess there's always a future as a prison underwear model though...
  7. If you ever like Shawn Oakman...You should pretty much give up on evaluating football players...
  8. I like it...And I like Butler... I would stand pat and take Jones at #19 because I'm admittedly enamored with his upside...But getting Butler as consolation is certainly not bad...And the extra picks are huge!!!
  9. He may be the most athletically gifted of this very good D-line crop...But all the athleticism in the world does not help when you're on the ground as much as Nkemdiche is... I don't know...I'm just not a huge fan...He unquestionably has the ability...But he's going to need some serious work on fundamentals...Then there's the off-the-field stuff... And I don't see him as a player who controls the line of scrimmage at all...To me he's more of an athlete...I see him always trying to beat the block with athleticism and having mixed results...When he's good he's VERY good...And when he's bad he's on the ground...To me he's not as much a stalemate guy as he is a penetrating DT...Which is not bad in itself...The problem is Nkemdiche has wild inconsistency while playing his game...
  10. And regardless of how capable he is of injuring people it's his injury that is the main concern right now...
  11. I have to admit to not being a big Hogan guy at the beginning of this process... I've changed my opinion on him...And it's not just me...I think when you take the time to look at him, and what he's accomplished on the field...It's hard to ignore...When I was watching the RSP Scouting Film on Hogan Matt Waldman pretty much mirrored my initial thoughts on him...Career back-up... But after watching his tape, Waldman came away thinking better of Hogan...And so have I...And I do think he's a guy you can wait a little bit on... The one thing I've noticed about Hogan is his pocket presence...He's not afraid to step up and take a hit in order to deliver the ball...He does not rattle easily...And I think this is such a key trait in an NFL QB...After you get the accuracy (over 65% in his last 2 years combined) and arm ability checked off (Hogan's arm is passable...Not the best but certainly good enough...) the next most important trait in a NFL QB, IMHO, is the ability to stand tall in the pocket and take the hit in order to deliver the ball...You see so many of these College kids come in looking great...Then they get knocked around a bit and wilt...And then it's over...I think Hogan is a tough-guy QB...He's a winner...He's smart (reported 38 on the Wonderlic), and he's coming out of a Pro system...His arm delivery is a little weird, but it's not a wind-up...he gets rid of it fast enough...And he's definitely athletic enough... I've gone from wincing at the thought of Hogan to actually hoping the Bills Draft him...That's a long way to come... https://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2015/10/06/stanford-qb-david-hogan-a-study-in-pocket-presence/
  12. Exactly...
  13. Ragland's the kind of guy I hate at #19 but like at #49...If that makes any sense... Love Sal...But I want to choke him for this...Really...I could not hate a group of three players any more than those three if you're talking about #19... Good grief...
  14. If they Draft any of those 3 at #19 I will be very, very, angry... I don't either...But I would definitely be happy with the pick if that's the way it goes...
  15. I think you make a very valid point...And I can say there are plenty of folks in the know out there that feel Tyrod left way too many plays on the field last year...Now...I truly believe the Bills like Tyrod... And I'm also pretty sure they currently are more than willing to chalk up a lot of Tyrod's problems to first-year-starter stuff...And for the most part he did have a pretty good year...But still...We don't know what is up behind the scenes...We do know it seems that Tyrod's Agent is already asking for the moon...So that's part of it too... I think without a doubt if the Bills take a QB by the 2nd round you can read those tea leaves pretty easily...
  16. I think the reason I like Cardale so much for Buffalo...aside from his obvious physical traits...is the fact that he's going to get a full red shirt year baring catastrophe...Give this kid a year with Roman and Lee and let's see what they can do with his tools...I believe Cardale is going to have to be given time and patience...Maybe more than a year...But on the other side of that you may...may...get something real special...I think when you're looking at pure upside...nothing else...Jones has every bit as much as Wentz and Lynch...And you can get him a round or two later...
  17. I'm certainly not OK with Drafting a QB at #19 or #49...But I think it enters the conversation at #80...I would rather wait till #117, but QB's get pushed up...And If you can get your pick of 3rd tier guys (I'm assuming Goff, Wentz and Lynch are tier 1...Cook and Hackenberg tier 2) at #80...You might as well do it...Because the reality is the Bills have 2 QB's with only 2016 left on their deals...It's insurance... I do think the Bills are in a position where they should take a QB...And I think that position is a nice one for a developmental type...Outside of preseason this Draft pick will very likely not see the field in 2016...That gives the kid a full year of development...No rushing them in...I like the idea...No question it's a long-shot...But at least you take out the possibility the kid gets thrown into the fire and is completely ruined by year 2...
  18. Interesting... I have to say the after watching a few film studies I'm leaning towards Dodd over Lawson...I still like them both...But this thing with Lawson not getting off the ball at the snap is really.mind boggling...If any of you have not watched it yet I highly recommend the RPS Film Room episode on Lawson...I thought at first one of the Scouts was just over exaggerating...But I saw it myself...And It's a bit alarming... Oh and Apple? No way...If they did take Apple they should have Goodell say... "With the #19th Pick in the 2016 NFL Draft...The Buffalo Bills select Eli Apple, CB, from Ohio St because they don't think they can resign Gilmore..."
  19. Love Pick: Chris Jones - DT - I honestly think outside of Tunsil he may prove to be the best player in this Draft long-term...There are not many men on the planet earth who are 6-6-310 and can move like Jones...He's got power too...He's young and a little raw...But that's why he'll be available at #19 instead of long, long gone...With proper coaching you get a top 10 talent at #19 and a player than can help make Dareus shine brighter than ever...He also fills a HUGE gap that Mario left with a player who is a better fit for what Rex wants to do anyway... Hate Pick: Laquon Treadwell - WR - Three 1st Round Picks for two WR's in three years...No thank you... Any LB not named Myles Jack - I'm 100% convinced there will be better players available at #19 than the 3 LB's after Jack... Any DB - Just...No... Any OT not named Tunsil or Stanley Expect Pick: Hard to say who will fall...But if he's there Shaq Lawson...I would not be surprised if it was any from the group of Jones, Rankins, Robinson, Reed, Dodd, Butler, or even Spence...I do not think they will take Nkemdiche...Just depends on who is still there and who is gone...
  20. I agree this... With Dareus specifically I would not worry too awful much...If Rex is going "all in" on his scheme you'll see Dareus featured...I think Marcell is going to be Rex's Sheldon Richardson in this Defense... I love Kyle Williams...But he's limited in where he is going to be most effective, no matter what front the Bills are going to play (not to mention he's 32 coming off a knee injury...But that's a whole different reason why I think DT/3-4 DE is SO important in this Draft)...And if there is one thing about Rex, he's going to play a TON of different fronts...So Kyle can play the 1 and 3...Dareus can do what Kyle can but with much more versatility... So what is missing?...I'll tell you what I think is missing...For Rex's Defense it's Muhammad Wilkerson that is missing...A player that can play all over the line...0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...The Bills don't have that guy...Admittedly most teams don't have that guy... I think if you look at Rex's recent history, and the players available this year, he's is going to be lobbying HARD for a player he feels can be molded into his next Wilkerson-type...That's why I really like Chris Jones at #19...I think he's the type of player that can open things up for Dareus, and KW...Jones is certainly big and powerful enough to be a middle clogger...But he can also move around and play several different techniques along the line...I know the knocks on Jones well...But a coach is always going to want the freak athlete feeling he can get the most out of him...And Jones is the type of player that, had he shown a little more consistency and fire, would have been a top 10 player in this Draft...He's only going to be 22 this season, and the sky is the limit for Jones...He shows flashes that are ridiculous for a man his size...Getting a guy like that at #19...A guy who fills a HUGE hole in Rex's D...Well...That's what I think the Bills should do...What they will do is another story altogether...
  21. Don't know if you've had the chance to watch this yet... Voch likes Spence...He also likes Shaq Lawson, and he really seemed to like Kevin Dodd a lot...He is not a big Joey Bosa guy though...
  22. Ideal? OK... I think ideal...not necessarily realistic...but ideal... would look more like... 19. Chris Jones DT 49. Noah Spence DE 80. Braxton Miller WR 117. Cardale Jones QB 139. Rashard Robinson CB Now that's what I think would be ideal...
  23. I guess anything is possible...But that would shock me...
