  1. I'm not sure how you could get tired of the "same steady diet" of watching quality teams play one another. What would you rather have on Sunday night football other than the two of the top 3 teams in the AFC (San Diego being the other) play one another? Sure there is too much hype leading up to this game but it's still the best matchup of the year thus far.
  2. Being only 33 I didn't get an opportunity to see the guys who played in the 70s and earlier but it's almost criminal how underrated Steve Young is. The guy is, hands down, the best QB I've seen play in the past 22 or so years. Better than Montana, better than Elway and better than Manning or Brady. Young could do it all. He was a master of the quick passing game, he had the arm for the deep outs and a nice touch on his long ball. He also mastered how to be an effective running QB as he always looked to pass first (well, after his first few years as a starter) before making plays with his legs. None of the other great QBs of his era could do all the things he could do, not even Elway (who wasn’t anywhere near as accurate as Young).
  3. Yeah, the OL is a scapegoat. Coaches frequently want to make multiple changes on the OL unnecessarily.
  4. You mean like Bledsoe made the Pro-Bowl last year with Witten as his TE or how he got benched this year with Witten as his TE?
  5. Obviously that means the Colts will win!
  6. Well, my sample set of Foxboro is admittedly very small, as it’s only one game. It was also a long time ago, in 1991. The stands were only about half full and my lasting impression of the game (which the Bills somehow lost to the Hugh Millen led Pats) was that my a** would never unfreeze after spending 3 hours on a metal bench in the middle of winter. My second lasting impression was that I couldn’t believe an NFL team actually played in that high school stadium. As for violence I don't recall seeing a single altercation, but I did see some really bad football.
  7. Okay, we get it, your time at RWS has been marked by kindness. Question though; do you open your eyes and see the security guards running around madly to the countless fights in the stands? Even on the trips where I haven't been bothered (which has been just about all of them) I'm still aware of the inordinate amount of violence that happens in the stands while the game is happening. I’ve been to three games at the Meadowlands, one in Foxboro, two in Atlanta and one in Indianapolis and the other poster is right, the atmosphere is NOTHING like it is at the Ralph (which, for the record, is both a good and a bad thing). The Bills fans tend to be much more passionate about their team but this has some really sad consequences to go along with the great vibe the stadium has when the Bills are winning. Those consequences are a lot more violence than I’ve seen in other stadiums. I’d guess that the cause of that violence is the great tailgating in Buffalo that doesn’t exist in these other cities I’ve been to. The fans aren’t as liquored up before the game in other cities which likely is the reason for fewer incidents (notice I said “fewer incidents” not “no incidents”).
  8. I never said he "sucks", I said he's not a very good RB in the NFL at this moment (but leave it to the people on this message board to think that every opinion is a radical one). If you've watched him, at all, you'd realize he's not a very good RB right now. He's a very talented athlete who is amazing in open space which is why he's a better catching the ball than he is running with it right now. That being said people are overdoing the number of receptions he's gotten. The Saints work really hard to get him the ball through the air because they know he just isn't ready for a heavy workload running the ball (and they have a better runner starting in front of him). The guy does have 40+ receptions but he's averaging just under 7 yards per reception, even for a RB that's not a great average but it’s not bad either. The problem with Bush's stats are that he has yet to have a big play, either from the running game or the passing game. His longest run is just 18 yards and his longest reception is just 32 yards. He'll eventually break a few off I'm sure which will help his average. Of course, this is exactly why I thought he wasn't the best player in the draft and shouldn't have been a top 5 pick. It's not that difficult to find a decent RB and, imo, most of them just aren't worth high first round picks. If you DO select a RB that high he had better be very productive, very early. RB is one of the few positions that can step right into the NFL and start producing big numbers. Bush simply wasn't ready to be an NFL runner right out of the gate. He was weak in college running between the tackles (there's a reason White came in when they got to the 10 yard line or in short yardage situations) and his main move was jumping everything to the outside and using his speed. This worked wonders in college but I knew it wasn't going to be so easy in the NFL (yes, I love being right ). He was going to have to learn to run between the tackles before he could really use that speed in the NFL. Once he does so he'll be a very good/great runner but, just as I suspected, he wasn't ready to do it right out of the gate. Does this mean I don't think he'll ever be any good? Not at all, I think he'll eventually be a very good runner, but is it worth it to wait a few seasons for a RB when their shelf lives are so short? I just don't think so, but it's just a matter of opinion, I'm sure some others do.
  9. He's not even a good RB yet. They have to work really hard to get him 15 touches a game and he's never been a good runner between the tackles. What happens when he gets to the NFL and can't hit the edge every time he touches the ball like he did in college? He averages 3.0 yards per carry. The guy is sensational in open space...unfortunately for him with the speed of the NFL there isn't that much open space to be found unless you're a WR.
  10. Nobody claimed that a HoF QB can't hide some of the deficiencies of the OL (that's why they're HoF QBs). That being said, it's easier to fix the line than it is the find a all time great QB.
  11. I've worn a Bills jersey to the Meadowlands every time I've gone and other than some good natured ribbing have never had ANY problems. No beer thrown on me or any threats. Of course, I make a point not to get carried away with cheering (not that the Bills generally have anything to cheer about). Honestly I've had more issues at the Ralph than I have at opposing teams stadiums. I've had beer hit me at the Ralph (though it wasn't aimed at me) and also had a guy who could barely stand up he was so drunk try to goad me into a fight for no reason whatsoever. Sadly I feel safer wearing Bills colors to opposing stadiums than I do going to the Ralph.
  12. Somehow I don't think anybody would be saying it sounds "fishy" if the exactly same article were written about a Bills fan getting beaten up at a Pat or Fin game. Sure the article was poorly written and in bad journalistic taste but that doesn't make it not true. Anybody that's ever been to a Bills games can see how this scenario could easily happen. I've been to 8 games at Rich/RW stadium and I've never seen less than, oh, 7 fights break out on any given Sunday. Contrast that to the 7 games I've been to in other stadiums around the country (including 3 at Giants stadium vs. the Jets) where I think I've seen a grand total of 7 fights, if that. It's so bad that after my wife and I had our first child she told me that she really didn't want me to take him to any football game at RWS because of all the violence. I agree with her, if I go to another game at the Ralph I’ll be going solo or with a friend and my family will remain at home.
  13. Yeah, it's frequently the fans of the winning team that start fights.
  14. What do all these QBs have in common? The OL for each has sucked. Fix the OL and you go a long way towards fixing the QB play. Don't get me wrong, none of these guys are world-beaters but you'd be amazed at how a good OL can make an average/below average QB look serviceable. Nah, let’s draft a 1st round QB next year instead!
  15. Wth are you talking about? Almost everyone on the Bills offense were pro-bowlers? The Bills had what, 3 pro bowlers that year. Bledsoe (who didn't deserve to go), Moulds and Henry himself (though if I recall he was a reserve originally). It's not like Moulds and Bledsoe weren't around for McGahee.
  16. I blew it this week as well. I decided that Indy wouldn't score many points at Denver and benched Wayne. He's been in my lineup every week, except his bye, until this one.
  17. Both Evans and Peters have the potential to become great players. RB is the easiest position in the NFL to play and Willis is as good as he's ever going to get. That's not true of Evans or Peters.
  18. Is this the only thing you concern yourself with on this team? Do you seriously think that if the Bills replaced JP they'd immediately be a contender?
  19. Walker was a mediocre player with absolutely no lateral movement. He wasn't even a one cut runner, he was a no cut runner with a nice burst and great top end speed. If he didn't have a hole DIRECTLY in front of him, where the play was designed to go, he couldn't go anywhere.
  20. I thought Reed got a little less attention than he probably deserved but he most definitely was not a "younger brother" to f'in Andre Rison! Not even close. That’s almost sacrilege. Sharpe had a nice few years but his injury pretty much prevented Reed from taking a back seat to him too. Honestly it doesn't really matter, I won't B word about Reed not being in the Hall as long as Art Monk is on the outside looking in. That's even a bigger travesty.
  21. So now all Willis has to do is insult the receivers and he'll have hit all parts of the offense...except himself. If he was LT I’d still want him to STFU and just play. As it is, he’s no LT and his game isn’t good enough to be publicly criticizing everybody else.
  22. It looks like Thurman should coast in next year.

    WSIS @ QB?

Man, that is a sad collection of QBs! There HAS to be someone on the free agent market that can do better than that for you. Alex Smith? Carr? Brunell? Haurd? Hell, I might take Frye over that collection of QBs.
  24. I'd hold onto Willis. While both OLs suck, the Bills coaching staff will stay committed to the run as long as the game is within reach while the Cards staff is happy to air it out all game long.
