  1. Perhaps you just aren't looking hard enough. There are plenty of good rock/metal bands out there. Turn off the radio and do some searching yourself.
  2. Hey now! That's not fair to Machida at all! That guy is a solid, all around fighter who has tapered off a bit as he's gotten older. Imo he easily beat both Rampage and Phil Davis but those decisions went the other way in some bizzaro way. Other than those loses he lost to Jones, Weidman, Rockhold and Romero - the top pvp fighter in the world and the top 3 guys in his own division. There's no shame in that, particularly at age 37. He's not the cream of the crop anymore but he can still likely beat anybody who isn't.
  3. Personally I don't have an issue with bands moving out of their comfort zone to try some new things. Not really a fan of that version of Sound of Silence but Disturbed isn't a bad band overall.
  4. The top 3 guys at 145 (other than McG) are Aldo, Mendes and Edgar. It's interesting that Conor didn't have to fight either Edgar or Mendes on his way to his first scheduled title matchup with Aldo. He got to skip right to the front of the line after beating the likes of Poirier and Siver. You know, guys who are nowhere to be seen in the top 15 of the division. Of course, Aldo got injured and in steps a replacement in Mendes who had one week of training camp and was off on a fishing vacation when he got the call. They chose Mendes for the interim title fight despite the fact that Edgar was training daily at the time and agreed to take the fight. Despite this Mendes dominated Conor in the 1st round via his ground game before he was completely gassed in the 2nd and couldn't even lift his hands to defend himself. Imagine that, a guy was completely gassed in a title fight when the week before he was trolling for large mouth bass. Of course, according to those who think Conor can do no wrong, this had no effect on the outcome. Aldo was always a better stylistic matchup for McGregor because he is primarily a standup fighter and wasn't going to threaten the takedown. That's not the say Aldo is an easy fight (he's obviously not), it's just one that McGregor was better suited to win than vs. Edgar or Mendes. It's also interesting - at least to me - that they make Edgar jump through hoops to get a title fight. The guy beat Swanson, Olivera and Faber yet they still match him up with Mendes for an "elimination" bout. He has to do this while McG gets to fight guys who aren't even in the top 15 en route to his title fight. It's almost like the UFC was hoping Edgar would lose as to avoid that matchup. Yet Edgar perseveres and Conor is the new champ. Finally, we'd get to see if Conor could withstand the pressure of a wrestler for 5 rounds. But wait, despite the fact that Conor has never even defended his title the UFC allows him to move up and challenge for another belt? Wait, what? Those types of match-ups have only happened in the past when a guy has cleaned out his division. But not this time. If you don't think Conor has been protected from on up high I don't know what to tell you. He is the UFC's golden child and they aren't going to risk losing that by giving him unfavorable match-ups. I have no doubt that if he fights again at 145 (which I'm not sure he will) they'll give him Aldo again. I'll tell you this, if McGregor somehow beats Dos Anjos (if they actually fight) and claims the belt they will never, ever, EVER match him up with the guy who would be champion right now if not for multiple injuries: Khabib Nurmagomedov. The hoops the UFC will make Nurmagomedov jump through for a title shot will make the ones they made Frankie jump through look easy by comparison.
  5. Ive followed this sport since its early Pride days. The one constant through the ever changing environment is that matchups are king. Rarely has there been a guy who can take on all comers. The guys who were able to do that had very solid all around games but more important than that they were/are able to dictate where the fight takes place. That means they used wrestling in reverse to keep it standing or their takedowns and ground game to keep it on the floor. Conor has not shown he can do that yet. Until he does hes going to be a victim of matchups, much like Anthony Petis was. Granted, the UFC has given him years to work on his wrestling by avoiding those matchups so maybe he will be ready be the time hes truely tested, but until I see it I believe he'll be taken down and ground to a nub by the first top flight wrestler he faces who actually has the cardio to keep his hands up more than 1 round. Im not a "hater" by any means, the guy is obviously very talented, but I see holes in his game that can easily be taken advantage of by certain opponents.
  6. You also get guys who are generally soft players who arent comfortable in the box. Ill take a truely versitile safety anyday.
  7. How is it delusional? When has he ever shown to have a solid ground game?
  8. I did a google search for "michael schumacher skiing injury helping kid" and the first thing that popped up... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formula-1/michael-schumacher-ski-accident-f1-2981606
  9. Conor doesn't have to duck anybody, he just let's the UFC make favorable matchup after favorable matchup for him. The day he beats anybody with a ground game that, you know, actually has a full camp, I'll take my hat off to the guy. As of now he's just a very good striker with huge holes in his game until he proves otherwise. If Diaz decides to grapple with Connor this new matchup will be interesting. If he decides to try and prove a point by going all Stockton on him by boxing, he'll be in trouble. I'm guessing Diaz won't get out of his own way and will stand. RDA might be the bigger threat but only if he uses his wrestling/BJJ mixed in with his stand up. If he does that Connor won't win. If he stands with him Connor has a chance. We might never know. Too bad, as I was really looking forward to that fight.
  10. From what I remember, he went off piste to help a friend's kid who had fallen.
  11. Slavery existed long before the British Empire. Nonetheless, people today should be okay with anything because their ancestors made mistakes? Why exactly?
  12. Not only did he win a national championship he also, you know, won the NFC title game. Pretty sure there is some pressure in playoff football. Or do you think the only pressure situation in a football game occurs in the Super Bowl? My problem with Cam (other than his poor attitude) is that I feel his window for success is really small. He was fantastic last year but the way he plays - carrying the ball and not sliding many times - combined with his really poor throwing mechanics leads me to believe that the moment his strength starts to fade, either by injury or age, he will be about as inaccurate as a QB can be. Right now he's able to overcome his poor mechanics with pure strength, that isn't what QBs who have a long, successful, career do. Just watch the guy play, I don't think I've seen worse footwork on an NFL QB ever. Unless he really starts working on his fundamentals he won't be a QB who has success into his mid to late 30s.
  13. Not sure how the legal system works with regards to that but, to me, it all comes down to who started the violence. They should be charged. The other guys were just defending themselves. Granted, "defending" has it's limits. A group of guys kicking a guy on the floor goes well beyond "defending."
  14. I'd guess that it has a lot to do with winning. The Pats win with the players that get into trouble, so of course they'd protect/defend them. The Bills can lose just as easily with or without these problem children. If the Bills are going to be losers, at least them them be losers with class. Not saying this is my opinion, just guessing as to why it is how it is.
  15. Who hates him because he's having fun? I don't care for him because he's a poor loser and a poor winner. He whines, sulks and pouts when things aren't going well and he shoves it in his opponent's face when he's doing well. His behavior is what I repeatedly try to tell my 11 year old son is called "poor sportsmanship." Cam never learned that lesson. I'm not a fan of the behavior.
  16. I was wondering how a group of cops, with cop salary, could afford to be in the "V.I.P" room ordering expensive bottles of champaign.
  17. That's because the Panthers team you watched all season had a cupcake schedule and didn't have to play one of the great D's of the past decade.
  18. Pace and Favre are the only two I'd vote in. In that order too.
  19. True, but there is the Flacco factor at work there. You know, the mathematical equation which states hes a bottom rung QB during the regular seasn but a fist ballot HoFer during the playoffs.
  20. There are pretty much two ways to win a championship. A fantastic offense (with just enough D) or a dominant D (with just enough O.) You're not winning being pretty good on both sides of the ball. Given that to have a fantastic offense you pretty much need a HoF type QB the only way to win without that QB is with a dominant D. Until the Bills get that upper echelon QB they need to keep building their team based on D. It's the only chance they have.
  21. I spent almost the entirety of my 20s living in NYC and spent countless nights out until the bars closed at 4am. I have a load of great memories hanging out with friends. Not once was I ever arrested or got into any kind of altercation. So good things do happen after 2am!
  22. No doubt he's an ass and I didn't need this story to confirm it. That's a far cry from saying he assaulted two people without any evidence. As I said before, it wouldn't surprise me the least if the story was later confirmed, I just hate the headline click bait assumption that they sell the story with.
  23. It is interesting how the story is being titled "McCoy assaulted two cops." Why isn't it being titled, "Cops assault McCoy." Thus far we have no way of knowing which version of the story is true (if either) but that doesn't stop them from running with it. Btw, not a McCoy fan at all and it wouldn't surprise me if he did start the fight, just funny how without facts they run with a version of the story.
  24. Phil Simms never criticizes anybody. He agrees with every coaching call, ref penalty and QB decision. You know when he rips into you you've done something egregious.
  25. Wade pretty much Schwartzed the Denver D. He just lets his pass rushers get after the QB and let's his DBs use simple coverages to take out opposing WRs. He let the talent and speed of the D shine without them being hesitant because they are unsure what they're doing. It works wonders when you have all that talent. And as for the Bills' average LB talent, I don't disagree, but nobody was saying Brown was horrible when he was calling the plays - as a rookie - for the Bills D last year. Then, suddenly, he gets an extremely complex D to run and he looks bad. The LBs were consistently late getting to the ball, the D looked confused pre-snap more often than not. I don't think it's coincidence. I'm not ready to throw Brown into the trash heap just yet. I'm not a "Rex has go go!" guy but without some team leaders both at LB and in the secondary who had already run Rex's D it was unlikely to be a smooth transition. It seems pretty obvious now, not sure how we didn't see it before the season. Year 2 can't be any worse (can it?) but the last thing I want is a brand new LB calling the plays who has never run this D before.
