  1. Let's just continue to mine the various branches of physics for new, trendy terminology; the acoustics of president Trump's comments aren't sitting well within the migrant community, creating a cryogenic reaction across the domestic geophysical landscape.
  2. It's beyond me why this is such a difficult concept for so many.
  3. Two words: focus groups.
  4. Yeah, this new use of the word "optics" as a synonym of "appearance" gets on my nerves, and is probably the result of a focus group impact study.
  5. Impeachment is not about public opinion. It requires conviction (to be found guilty) of bribery, treason, or high crimes and misdemeanors. Public opinion has squat to do with it. If it worked that way, no president in my lifetime would have served a full single term.
  6. Good grief - why do they need to promote medicaid anyway? It's not like people haven't been taking advantage of it for decades already. I have to wonder - what role, exactly, does one hundred and thirty four managers have in something like this? How many rank and file actually report to them? And finally, why are so damned many people needed to process this crap? I honestly do not mind providing assistance to those that truly need it, but at what point will people begin to realize that this is just too top heavy and unnecessarily expensive?
  7. A pint of Sauza Conmemorativo tequila and a Maduro wrap Cuban Punch Churchill cigar.
  8. Because young people are idealistic, generally speaking. I expect this sort of thing from younger people more than I do from mature adults. Unfortunately, most people are either uncaring or are oblivious to rudimentary understanding of civics, government, and constitutionality. Of those that are engaged at all, most fall into the "team mentality" of political activism, effectively rendering them both useless and annoying.
  9. It's nothing to be amazed about, because to the people you appear to be describing, politics and party affiliation is the equivalent of being a die-hard sports team fan. My guys are great, maybe a little improvement can be made by shuffling personnel from the backfield to the ways and means committee, but we're essentially all that's right and good for humanity. The other team however, is a bunch of worthless cheating hacks, and their supporters are even worse for their complete blind devotion to a bunch of soulless hucksters. That is partisan politics.
  10. It's more than that. I didn't realize it until I'd had him on ignore for a few weeks, but it's become clear that he's just intentionally yanking peoples' chains and playing with whoever responds. He makes one of his usual ridiculous statements and waits for the inevitable reply, People take the bait, get reeled-in, and then he dances them around like they were marionettes. He even manages to victimize Tom's bot. That's Hogboy-level trolling if you ask me. Everyone should just stop taking the bait. He rarely has any kind of point to make, he's just having fun at the expense of others.
  11. I certainly don't disagree with that. TM's death was tragic and unnecessary. Everyone loses in a scenario like that. It's like I said upthread - two idiots + one gun = one dead idiot. I've never had to shoot anyone in self-defense, but if I ever do, it will haunt me for the rest of my life, no matter how justified I was in doing so.
  12. I'm completely unfamiliar with any connection between Merlin and the antichrist, but as far as I know, he met his fate at the hands of Morgana who imprisoned him inside a tree. It's been an awfully long time since I read any of that stuff.
  13. I could be mistaken, but I believe Merlin from Arthurian lore lived backwards in time, growing younger as time passed. Then again, I'm pretty sure that was fiction.
  14. Good points, both. On the Zappa/Mothers live at the Fillmore East (1971), I remembered that toward the end of the recording, Frank says something about it being a shame that Graham was closing the place and wishing him luck in his future endeavors. The fact that the place has been closed for decades didn't even occur to me until today. The power of the man's misguided hubris is impressive.
  15. Am I missing something? Are we talking about the Fillmore East? The venue that was owned by Bill Graham that closed over 40 years ago?
  16. I know for a fact that I can't be the owner/proprietor of the first gourmet grilled cheese food truck on the planet Neptune. In fact, I'll go one further and say that I can't ever be the owner/proprietor of anything at all on the planet Neptune. Chances are good that I'll never even do that here on Earth.
  17. Okay, you've got me there.
  18. But I was looking for something funny.
