  1. The best puns are always 'groaners'. No shame in that.
  2. I miss Carson - he set a standard that, IMO, nobody has yet come close to reaching.
  3. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
  4. Sorry, but I don't see a lot of liberals voicing concern about government intrusion into personal matters. In fact, I see liberals using the might of government to micromanage not only peoples' lives, but their property, possessions, and their general attitude towards others as well.
  5. Baskin would agree 100% A lot of people here appear to think that both sides suck, but you, me, and everyone else are always labeled as being 'far right' and engaging in 'right wing circle jerks'. Funny how lefties will automatically assume that if you disagree with them that you're a right wing extremist.
  6. Only if they're hung out for several weeks in the salty air along the coast of the Iberian peninsula.
  7. True. You've got me there.
  8. I disagree wholeheartedly - Libertarians shun government involvement in nearly everything, where liberals depend on government involvement in nearly everything.
  9. I wouldn't argue with that. What will be interesting is that the Republic Of Texas Biker Rally (aka the ROT rally) will take place here in Austin in three weeks. Bikers from all over Texas (and that's a hell of a lot of Bikers - around 50,000) will be in town. Local law enforcement says that they're not expecting trouble, but Austin's only around 100 miles from Waco, and some of those involved in Sunday's shooting were from this area.
  10. I try to avoid political discussions with millennials, but most that I have spoken with tend more toward libertarianism than leftist/socialist/progressive, and Austin is a very liberal city.
  11. Or how many were shot and killed by police officers?
  12. It must be difficult, being such a superior being and all.
  13. To be honest, my perception of the media laughing at Rubio over his drink of water made them look ridiculous, not Rubio. I remember thinking at the time 'is this the best they can do against this guy?' The left is going to go after Rubio with everything they've got. A young, charsmatic latino replublican could stand to upset quite a few of the proverbial apple carts within the democrat party. Best to get him out of the way as early as possible. I don't mean that as an endorsement of Rubio - I don't feel much enthusiasm for any of the announced candidates, regardless of party.
  14. Sanchez ought to be glad that she changed her name - when she first ran against Bob Dornan, she changed her name from her married name Bixley to her maiden name Sanchez, presumably to attract more Latino votes. Imagine if she had still been white when all this happened......
  15. Got a link to that quote? I'd like to see that in context. You must not know any bikers. They're not all in gangs, you know. People here know how to shoot, that's for sure.
  16. You've gotta love social media.
  17. I think one salient point that's being overlooked here is that according to the article in the OP, Rubio supports removing the sunsets from the Patriot Act and making it permanent. Is that really what we want?
  18. I'm with you. Just about every show has one good guaranteed belly-laugh for me, and Stewart's politics are about as different from mine as possible.
  19. They're either not working hard enough, or they haven't developed any kind of practical skill that will earn them a decent wage. That's their responsibility, not anyone else's. Exactly right. How many people here at TBD have had to move away from WNY in order to make a living?
  20. What the hell ever happened to the concept of people getting up off their butts and making things happen for themselves? Why is this so difficult?
  21. I thought the 'other people's' part was a given.
  22. Me too. That song was terrible.
  23. To be fair, they're very good at spending it.
