Global warming err Climate change HOAX
Azalin replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Fish have been known to inexplicably fall from the sky, and there is the Pisces Austrinids annual meteor shower. Coincidence? -
Oh, to be able to take three months off from work.... Like I said earlier, I there's a lot involving investment, economics, finance, etc that I don't understand. In fact I know just about enough to be dangerous. If things could somehow remain as they are for the next eight years or so, then I might actually be able to really enjoy retirement.

It's actually his dad, GHWB that's in ICU. Now his wife Barbara has been admitted to the same hospital, reportedly suffering from exhaustion and a bad cough. Also, Bush 41 reportedly sent a letter of apology to Trump for not being able to attend in inauguration due to his health.

Well, I see no room for skepticism there. -

Does that by any chance relate to the EPR paradox and Einstein's "spooky effect at a distance"? -
Since Trump won the election, the money in my 401K has increased by approximately 13%. My investment allocations are spread out in various funds with only a moderate risk level according to my advisor. Most of the areas of investment are in stock funds - small/mid/large caps as well as international stocks. This is by no means an area of expertise for me, but I've always assumed that stocks react on predicting the future, both short and long term. If this is the case, why would there be such a dire prediction on the VIX while I'm seeing evidence to the contrary in my own account?

Donald Trump on Politics 2004
Azalin replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I met guitarist John Lowery (AKA John 5) a few years ago at a guitar clinic here in Austin, and learned that he's a serious germophobe. I actually got to shake his hand, but only because he was wearing black gloves at the time. -

Good grief - their progress in studying climate science would benefit from having more skeptics involved. -
The Mizzou/Yale/PC/Free Speech Topic

What a terrible idea - that could likely be the single greatest cause of constipation ever in modern times. Sort of like when Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow and runs back into his burrow. -

"They keep bringing up comedians and and actors athletes to represent black interests. It’s demeaning, it’s disrespectful, and it’s condescending,” he continued. “Bring some people up there with expertise Donald Trump, don’t just bring up people to entertain.” Yeah, only Democrats can use comedians and actors and athletes so sell their agenda!

Irv Weinstein: Lou Gehrig's Disease
Azalin replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I remember once seeing Rush play on my 19th birthday at the Century Theater, when they came out for their encore, Geddy Lee said "Buffalo, Eyewitness News, Irv Weinstein, this is Working Man...." -
I don't see it on the right like I do on the left. There's the usual clowns like white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and the Klan, but they're fringe - hardly what I'd call representative of the Republican party. To portray them as such is to give credence to the nonsense people like Lewis are spewing.
-
It's worse than that. Leftist dogma has always been idealistic, but there was a time not long ago where that ideal had a strong "we're all in this together" component that's now completely absent. Now John Lewis is taking the lead from the likes of Pelosi, Warren, and Sanders and fomenting a culture of hate. In my book, that's as anti-American left as it gets. To me it looks more like the creation of a wave of neo-fascism which will only serve to rot their party even further from the inside.

No, we're the popular front.

It's all pretty amazing to watch. They're conflating nationalism with racism and being stubbornly obtuse about it. They're accusing Trump of hatred while spouting hatred for Trump, along with any who do not openly share their hatred of Trump. They have no idea how badly they are marginalizing themselves, nor do they realize that they're calming the dislike of Trump previously held by many Republicans. A few months ago the "experts" were claiming that this election had changed the Republican party forever, but I think it's having a far greater impact on the Democrats.

Good grief, that interviewer is a bonehead. And that's being kind. -

What is it that makes you think that I - or anyone else here for that matter - is fine with the current health insurance structure? Because we reject the ACA for being the piece of crap that it is? In your mind that means that we're happy with things as they are? You're being a bit presumptive, don't you think? I won't try to speak for everybody, but I would suggest to you that most people here want as little government involvement as possible. Even you have to acknowledge the onerous regulatory burden and massive government intrusion into both healthcare and health insurance over the last fifty years. You think that's been a good thing? You must think that it's not a bad idea since you're still a proponent of having a government "plan" and suggest a structure similar to other "first world" nations. So your suggestion is to pursue a socialized structure by looking for free market solutions, and you say that educating the citizenry would help?

Sorry guys, I'm not a fan of his politics but I've always thought that despite his partisan affiliation, I believe Biden to be sincere in his love of country and his desire to serve. The man is a gaff factory to be sure, but I give him credit for continuing his public service despite the devastating losses he's suffered over the years. I was glad to see him receive that medal, and aside from being thankful that he didn't move on to become our president, I wish him all the best, and believe he deserves acknowledgement for his service to the nation.

I'd rather see her cast as Bishop in Aliens.

You continually harp on Republicans for not putting out "a plan" of their own, and now you suggest a free market solution resulting in something comparable to "every other first world country's" cradle to grave coverage. Further, you state that in the countries that do provide such coverage, that they do not burden the business community, ignoring the massive tax burden that socialized medicine places upon every single one of these nations. If you were consistent in your logic, then you wouldn't have to continually remind us how intelligent and wealthy you are.
