  1. Pretty much. Perfomance wise he was fine for a rookie. The only thing that has me concerned is the injuries. If he can't stay healthy, then that is obviously going to negate everything else. I had similar concerns about eric wood though, and his injury stuff has calmed down a lot. So hopefully his injury rookie season is not a precurser of things to come
  2. Doesn't bother me. Will just give the coaches more time to evaluate the depth on the team and give depth players some experience. Also gives hackett more experience, which he needs
  3. Its not just because of the AW signing. There was like a 10 mill difference. The bills sign lots of their good players, but they can't keep them all. Look at the pats* losing Welker and talib to a conference rival, look at all the talent the saints dumped and replaced it with Byrd and a pissed off graham with no contract yet. Steelers losing Wallace and Sanders. Even good teams lose good players. The bills keep more good players than they lose. And by good I mean good, not great or super great. That hasnt been the bills problem with the most recent regime. Their problem has been questionable coaching and bad QB play, which is the hallmark of any bad NFL team. As much as I like Byrd, losing him doesn't set us back very far. If they add another good linebacker this off-season, this defense will probably be even better than last year, even minus Byrd.
  4. You said you didn't care that Freddie had heart, because heart doesn't win championships, talent wins. That implies you think freddie is all heart and no/little talent. This team has had some good talent on it, but not in the right spots. We have had a pro bowl safety on the roster for years and never got into the playoffs. More important positions out there we could upgrade. Whoever replaces Byrd won't be as good as him, but honestly, those games last season byrd missed, I hardly believe that adding him to those games turns them into Ws. I would rather the bills upgrade 3 positions and have some drop off at saftety than pay Byrd 9 mill a year. A couple weeks ago I would have been ok with it, but now hearing that are available cap was way less than we thought, I say thanks but no thanks
  5. That has nothing to do with the discussion. Bills haven't had the best player of their position in quite a long time. Even Byrd was 2nd at his position at best.
  6. I am not a Nate Hackett fan, but I think the struggles on offense are just as much to blame on Marrone than hackett. Marrone has been very hands on with the offense, and if it doesn't immprove, blame rests on both of them. And the thing with the roundtable of QBs we had last year obviously was the biggest factor in all this. Hoping to see them make improvements and hopefully see EJ grow and stay healthy. I am putting aside my predictions for the team aside for the moment. With the way the draft went for us last year, I am hoping they do a repeat and if they add quality players like last time, I would be pretty optimisic. Kiko, Woods, goodwin were great additions. I am really hoping last years draft wasn't a fluke and it is a sign of great things to come. I agree with this. Definently played it safer with EJ, which was very frustrating. There are a lot of reasons for it, but none of them are really good
  7. Derrick brooks, tony dungy, Jerome Bettis, and Marvin Harrison Def deserves to be in it. Strahan and Anderson too
  8. The honors show is at 8pm on fox actually. nfl network is doing a commentarty and red carpet show before and after the honors show. The HOF class will be announced by 10
  9. They have a lot of players up next year. So that would really be the only excuse. But I am with you, he is important, and I think important enough to pay him, even if they over pay. They wasted a lot of money on QBs that never even played for us, and that wasted money could have been used to help retain Byrd.
  10. Not sure if Robey figures into the grade, but Kiper did mention him in his writeup. Manuel was what he says is dragging the grade down
  11. He will fit right in. He is already used to a losing culture! In all seriousness, it is a good hire. Would have rather have kept Pettine, but we don't have a choice
  12. A lot of fans on Twitter seem to think the bills are going after him too
  13. Article on nfl.com bout the schiano interview says pettine has a third interview on Thursday... What the hell...
  14. If the bills gave their current HC permission to interview for another HC job, I would officially be done with the team because I don't know it what world that would make any sense. I am not a Hackett fan, but I honestly would worry him leaving and bringing in a new OC because it would probably hurt EJ's development. Swapping out OCs over and over has done a ton of damage to young QBs. If the browns don't make him an offer today, I am leaning toward pettine staying. After two interviews, and they still don't know if he is the guy, then they really have no idea what they are doing. In all honesty, they were stupid to fire their HC after one year.
  15. Now Brown's have left mobile and have another interview in the morning somewhere else.... This reporting is like the Mario reporting. So much bad Intel
  16. Which is the number one reason why I think it is going to happen As much as it is tough being a bills fan, I am thrilled to not be a browns fan. People hate on Ralph, but the browns by far have it worse ownership wise
  17. If they don't make an offer by the end of the week, I would think pettine pulls his name out of the running
  18. Agreed. Like you said, this is only 1 year in this system. If it were at least 3 years into it,, i would feel better about plugging in a DC than now. I am shocked that after one year, pettine has a good shot to go to a HC Job after the bills went 6-10. Brown's are really screwing things up. They were crazy to fire their coach so quickly.
  19. Only reason I was ok with trading lynch is because it was becoming obvious he was never going to re-sign here and he kept getting into trouble. better to get something for him than nothing. Otherwise, it is an annoying move and I can't wait until he retires and I dont have to see him anymore to remind me.
  20. all we need to do is draft a special teams stud with our first round pick. problem solved
  21. The knees are really the only thing that concern me at this point. Talent wise, he played ok for a rookie. But it isn't right for him to get 3 knee injuries in one season.
