  2. What websites do you go to??? If you don't go to the bowels of the internet and click on every link known to man, you'll be fine with or without anti-virus software, regardless of what computer you use - especially for an hour!
  3. Really? I didn't expect to hear that from you. I think it's pathetic that kids *expect* to get the ball nowadays. Like I said, an entitled generation. And I thought you would've said the same thing.
  4. I'm very sorry to hear that, Mead. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out.
  5. And we wonder why kids act entitled all the time. In the case of the ball hitting the hid in the head, ok -- I'd give the ball to them. And I wouldn't reach over a kid to get the ball either. But if it lands in my lap or comes right at me -- why wouldn't I keep it? And like was said, how do you decide WHICH kid to give it to in a random case?
  6. You don't have to threaten anything... Just call, say it's expensive, and ask if they can reduce the price. You can do the same thing to get money off of your bill once every year or so. In addition, DirecTV gives out free rewards to long-time customers. They just gave me 3 months of Showtime for free (without asking) for my anniversary.
  7. Ouch... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Ryan-Leaf-is-recovering-from-surgery-to-remove-a?urn=nfl-wp2303
  8. Including cholesterol from deep fried foods...
  9. In this case I'd take the Bills, hands down.
  10. Gotta take the Cup run as well. That would generate a ton of positive press for the city and would be a lot of fun to follow. If we're fighting for a WC shot in the NFL, chances are we're not making it to the big dance.
  11. My wife doesn't try to convince me to watch shows - so busy with work and school that she likes having shows she can watch on her own. That said, has anybody been watching Archer on FX? I just discovered it on Netflix a couple of weeks ago and it's hilarious. I've tried convincing her to watch it, but she thinks it's lame... Archer: "Hello? Airplane? It's blimp. You win." If you haven't seen it, the first season is on Netflix and I assume the second season will be soon as well. Why is nobody talking about this show? http://www.tv.com/ar...55/summary.html
  12. Personally, I think that may be too high. We spend 18% of our NET income. This lets us max out 401(k) and Roth IRAs, put a ton into savings for a rainy day, as well as lets us take nice vacations from time to time. If one of us gets laid off, it'll suck -- but we'll still be able to afford our house. We purchased back in 2002, at the height of the craziness. Not once did a banker put a gun to my head and force me into buying a house I wasn't comfortable buying. That's why I laugh at pBills saying it's the banks fault. No it's not. It's the individual's fault for not figuring out how much they can afford.
  13. I love that phrase -- like the banks were stalking you in the alleyway, put a gun to your head and a pen in your hand and said, "Sign or die."
  14. You didn't answer my question. If I max out my credit cards with tens of thousands of dollars in debt, and then don't pay it off -- is it my fault? Or the bank's fault?
  15. So you don't believe in personal responsibility? The banks have given me a couple of credit cards with $20k limits -- so if I max them out and then don't pay them back, that's not my fault either?
  16. Not to play devil's advocate, but wasn't in mostly the middle class that went out and bought houses that they couldn't afford which led to the housing market collapse....? Sure, you could say "the banks lent the money," (to which some can reply that the government made them do it, blah blah blah, whatever), but ultimately isn't it up to the individual to know what they can afford?
  17. Possibly NSFW. I found it HILARIOUS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzLqa67aYmg I just showed the video to my wife and she thought it was demented and not funny at all... So YMMV
  18. That'd be all well in good if this were the first time it's ever happened. The old record for that city in OK was -25F back in 1930, and the state's record low was -27F in 1905, 1930, and 1947. The new record, -28F according to the below link, is obviously a bit colder but not far off from the records. Topeka, Kansas broke a record too - 9F, but they were -8F back in 1982. I don't see how bad weather for a year or two leads to "impossible not to believe in climate change." Keep in mind that there's also better recording devices nowadays, so who knows if it was really -27F in 1905 or if it was -29F. Hard to tell. http://www.gtrnews.com/greater-tulsa-reporter/9389/oklahoma-colder-than-the-south-pole-this-morning
  19. On paper this sounds like a great argument - I only want to pay for what I watch. In practice, it will suck away most of the channels and raise the costs on others. You'll also lose out on a lot of channels as fewer people subscribe, raising the prices, meaning even fewer people subscribe. http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20080713/1735351664.shtml That said, cutting cable is a good thing if you can get by with sports on local channels only.
  20. Positives - I'll have free time on Sundays to do other things while the owners and players continue to bicker about costs. I'll also save a couple hundred bucks on Sunday Ticket. Downsides - No football.
  21. Agreed - Starship Troopers was made to be a campy movie and to make fun of itself. It does a great job at that.
