Most Depressing Movie - What's your choice?
Fezmid replied to Mr_Blizzard's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I watched this last year after Christmas. Everyone in the room was crying. Except me. Everyone thought Marley was the most annoying dog of all time, he was not well behaved, practically tore the family apart... yet are sad when he dies? I still don't get it.... -
I don't think the producers had anything to do with it (unlike some of the comps and the Pandora's box "twist"...). Shelly really likes Jeff and Jordon. I don't think she hated Rachel, but I'm sure she voted for Rachel because that's what Jeff and Jordon wanted. In addition, she seemed to respect good game play and Rachel clearly outplayed Porche.

Most Depressing Movie - What's your choice?
Fezmid replied to Mr_Blizzard's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm going to have to vote for My Sister's Keeper: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1078588/ I thought it was going to be a lame chick flick of some sort, but it was very well done and very depressing. -
The NFL has agreed to give me a week's worth a data, although I'm asking if they can give me 16 weeks worth of an individual team's data instead of one week of everyone's data. We'll see what they say, but I was impressed that the NFL wrote me back.

Has anybody found a source for NFL play by play data in XML format? I've found a couple of sites that seem to sell that data, but I was hoping for free (even if it's years old). Not sure if anybody here has come across anything like that or not. The reason I ask is that I'm preparing to build a data warehouse of all play by play data so that you can ask interesting questions like, "How often do the Bills run the ball on 3rd and less than 2 on the road when trailing by 14 points in the snow?" Ambitious, but we'll see what happens. Thanks! (EDIT: I did find this site, and it contains plays in CSV. Might be able to use it, but I think XML fits into the project better). http://www.armchairanalysis.com/nfl-play-by-play-data.php

No, it's different than the one on the page.

Ooops, forgot that info, sorry! Point your browser to http://irc.webmaster.com Then for the room, type: #gobuffalo (include the #)
-
I know not everyone's a fan of the IRC board, but there's still a number of people who prefer it to other alternatives. If you're one of those people, we're still getting together before the games on IRC. Use a regular IRC client or use your web browser and go to http://irc.webmaster.com From there, go to the #gobuffalo room (including the # sign) Hope to see you there!

Isn't that a valid strategy though? If you see people attacking each other and realize nobody's going after you... Why do you need to make a big move? That's what got Dani kicked out -- she should've just kept her mouth shut and waited for the right time. Porche kept her head down and started to win when she needed to... That said, I do think Rachel should win, but I don't understand people who complain about players who make it to the end but who didn't do anything big. (that, and the only reason Rachel is in the final three is because CBS cheated for both her and Jordan. Nobody really believes that the duo twist, the hanging on contest (that Rachel basically won week 1 for HoH), and the "get donuts through molasses" (another competition that we know Kalia couldn't win) weren't completely hand picked just to make sure the two of them stayed, do they?
-
I don't really consider Porche to be a floater. She was with the vets in the beginning then switched sides and pretty much stayed there.

Everyone seems to be saying this, but I completely disagree. End Tuesday delivery. Heck, end M-W-F delivery. But Saturday delivery is actually pretty important, and if you can't lay anybody off you might as well KEEP Saturday delivery and get rid of the others. Why? Because many times a package is required to be signed for, and if you work, that's difficult to do. Or if you need to mail a package, it's difficult to do during regular post office business hours. Since most people don't work on the weekend, Saturday delivery and post office hours make far more sense than other days during the week.

The 10 worst songs of the 1990s
Fezmid replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'd never seen the Barbie video before. It was actually pretty funny, especially when he ripped her arm out. -
To be fair, they haven't lost Starz yet. I wouldn't be surprised if Starz is just using this for leverage to try and get more money. The deal doesn't run out until Feburary, 2012 I believe.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
-
Because the studios weren't willing to offer that up. If you read about the Starz deal that fell through a couple of days ago, the biggest sticking point was that Starz wanted their content on a higher-priced Netflix tier. They wanted customers to pay roughly $16/month to stream their content, and Netflix wanted to keep it at the $8 level. Because of that, Starz walked. Back in 2008, before streaming video was mainstream, studios gave away their libraries relatively cheap. They won't make that same mistake again, and are actually over-valuing their content IMHO.

He was a contestant on an episode of the Newlywed Game awhile back.

I know I've told you this before, and I know you still don't care, but this was NOT Netflix's fault. The move studios were requiring it in their latest round of contract negotiations. If Netflix said, "No way," then Netflix wouldn't have had ANY movies to send to your mailbox. The studios are simply extorting money from providers, same as before. And that's the reason distributors (like Netflix and DirecTV) are working on creating their own content as well.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra schedule announced - 2010
Fezmid replied to Fezmid's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I had 2nd row aisle seats last year, so it's a bit of a downgrade. it was cool being right next to the stage. I wonder why they're not going to WV this year. That sucks -

2011 tickets are now on sale. Picked mine up yesterday for the St. Paul show on December 4th. 10th row, center, on the aisle. Nice! :0 -
Here we go again... I agree with you though, and they do put on a pretty entertaining show, even if most of their songs start to sound the same after awhile...

Nope, Hudson. Still gave my native perspective though - I predicted that Harsdorf would win in a landslide, and she did. Interestingly enough, I didn't receive a single mailing from Harsdorf, yet I received at least three pieces of mail from Shelly Moore every week for about a month. They all said the exact same thing --- in essence, "Harsdorf = Walker, vote Moore!" -- with not a single statement about why Moore should be elected. Didn't matter - I was against the recalls in general and would've voted incumbent no matter where I lived in WI (and my wife felt the same way). I don't agree with the Democrats fleeing the state to stop the vote, but they were doing what they (or the unions, or whomever) thought was best, just like the Republicans were voting on legislation for the same reason. None of those are reasons to be voted out of office before the real election, IMHO.
