Is this franchise circling the drain?
Fezmid replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just like people (including media) who said that Bledsoe was all washed up and should retire because he can't play in the NFL anymore? Just playing devil's advocate. -

No, it's just people making baseless assumptions so that they can get ready to run a coach/player/executive/owner out of town with their torches and pitchforks. CW -
I thought Bledsoe embarassed the franchise against Pittsburgh?
-
Yeah, I don't really get it myself. "Do what the coaches tell you to do and shut up!" Ummm, if my boss came to me and said, "There's this big project coming up that you have a lot of experience with, but we're going to let this new guy out of college run the whole thing and you can sit back and clean up the filing cabinets for us," I'd be complaining very loudly and I would assume most people here would do the same. The number one thing about a job is that it needs to provide satisfaction, and it doesn't matter how much money you're making, that doesn't provide satisfaction. Unless everyone on this board is a wuss and just does what they're told everyday... CW

If he did complain about Evans getting the passes thrown his way on Sunday, and if he did start slacking off on his routes because of that, I have no problem with the benching and then yes, Moulds' whining would be uncalled for. All I'm saying is that we have no idea if that's the truth or not, so why are we throwing a guy under the bus based purely on speculation? CW -

Umm, Moulds has over 50% more catches than the next leading receiver. He's not getting the yards because he's running short routes (or not being thrown the ball on long ones). If my scenario were correct, you think MM would say that to the media? Come on now. Yes, he complains when losing. I don't have a problem with that. Do you just blindly do what your boss tells you to, even when he's wrong? I don't; if my boss wants to do something that's stupid, I call him out on it. You took a nice post, but now you're back to making assumptions. You don't know that he threw a hissy fit (or if he did, why). You don't know if he distracted the team. All speculation. Now you're sounding like the Bledsoe bashers. Who said anything about caring about EM's feelings? I'm just saying that everyone getting mad at Moulds based on 100% speculation is wrong. CW -

I'm trying to figure out why everyone is instantly assuming this is the case? It's all speculation, but a lot of posters are treating it as fact now. Maybe Moulds is upset because, after going up 21-0, MM told him, "We've got this game, we're going to try some different formations with some different players now, to see what kind of team we have." Moulds, who wants to play, says, "Coach, the game isn't over yet, and this isn't preseason. I want to play!!!" MM says, "Sit down Moulds, I'm the coach." You know, I believe this second scenario is FAR more likely, based on the stupid formations and plays I saw called from the 2nd-4th quarter on Sunday (in the chat room I even commented that the game was being played like a Madden video game). Moulds wasn't complaining when Price was getting all of the catches and touchdowns, why would he complain now? CW -
Exerpt from Greg Easterbrook Column
Fezmid replied to fairweather fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There may be some truth to that. But again, we missed the playoffs by one game in two of the three seasons DB was here. It appears we're going to miss the playoffs by a lot more than a game this year... I'm not saying DB was the answer here, but he definately wasn't the problem. CW -

The point is, he's still better than JPL (at this point). What happened to everyone (STOJAN?!?!?!) who said that we couldn't be any worse with JPL playing? The new rally cry is "JPL just needs experience." Nobody was saying that last year when they were kicking DB to the curb. CW -
Check a Bengals message board before this year, I bet you'd see the same nonesense that's being posted here. CW
-
Would that be the same NFC West that sent not one, but two teams to the playoffs last year...? Either that, or I missed the memo that said the Saints and Dolphins are powerhouses this year...? You're right, those 10-6 Jets SUCKED last year, oh my god were they terrible. 8-8 in year one and 8-8 in year two is an improvement...? Oh, and our sucky team beat them last year as well, so what does that say? Remember, we didn't beat any strong teams last year. CW

You know, I honestly believe that these "reporters" simply look at message boards, find out what fans are saying, and write about it. It makes sense -- if the majority of fans are saying it, then if someone writes about it, the fans will point and say "See!" so more people see the article, and the paper/magazine/website gets more traffic, thus more money. It's just way too much of a coincidence that EVERY time something is said on a board, the media starts saying the same thing... Bledsoe is a great example. Bills fans were trashing the guy, saying he's washed up, over the hill, can't play. Media outlets started backing this and saying the same thing. I'm having less and less respect for the media nowadays. CW

People were calling for Mike Tice's head, and now he's being mentioned as coach of the year (which is a complete joke, but that's a topic for another thread). Consistency - I've been saying it all day, you can't keep firing coaches after two seasons like we do. First Phillip0s, then GW, now MM. CW

TD *has* addressed the line, somewhat. He drafted MW, he picked up Sam Adams, he drafted/signed AS (and Denney and Anderson and and and). Unfortunately, except for Adams and AS, there have been more misses than hits. Even when MW was drafted, I wished we had strenghtened the line more, but we didn't. Yes, these are things that need to be addressed. But how is getting a new GM and coaches (who will then want to bring their own players in) going to help us win? We were 9-7 last year, 1 game away from the playoffs. We've been VERY close to winning a lot of games this year -- Miami, New England and Carolina come to mind. If we don't blow it late in the 4th, we're sitting at 7-4 right now. Not too shabby, huh? And that's with a bad OL and DL. I think we're only a few players away from making a run, and cleaning house is going to delay that. You just CAN'T keep replacing coaches every two years... CW
-
Yeah, I think we have a decent shot at it. We missed it by only one game last year. We've been very streaky this year but have shown flashes of being really good. I think we need a bit of consistency for another year. CW
