The NFL Should Extend Pre-Season with a Fifth Game
reddogblitz replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jerry, is that you? Owners love pre season because they don't have to pay the players and they still TV revenue and season ticket holders have to buy the tickets. Lets go back to the way it used to be. 14 regular season and 6 pre season games. -
The non challenge by Mcdermott

OK. I'm gonna go with Coach McDermott's decisions. He got a team to the playoffs that no one thought was possible. He obviously knows what he's doing. So I think he just needs to keep on keepin' on. And, it's pre season and it means less than nothing. It's about evaluating talent (which you can't really do in RS because you're trying to win), not winning. How many pre season games did Marv win? How many did the 0-16 Lions win? -

WE WON THE GAME. What do you want? If punting helps us win i hope we do a lot of it this year. Did you leave at 1/2 time vs the Oilers too? -

I think he just wAnted to punt. He picks bubble guys on how they do on kicking teams. It's pre season. around here we just concentrate one one position. He has to consider them all. Is there really such a thing aS "momentum" in pre season? -
Fudds. Now we're talikin'. I already boycott In-n-Out because they don't have one in my area. When I go out town i curtail all boycotts.

Jalen Ramsey: Gronk is overrated
reddogblitz replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jalen better watch out for the Gronk to drop a metal enforced elbow into his noggin when he's not lookin'. -

Peterman will never live down the 5-pick half . . .
reddogblitz replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Took 'em a while to catch on I guess. Even so, in his last year 8 out of the 14 he faced still hadn't figured it out. He wasn't the greatest QB in the world but we could win with him which is more than I can say about any other Bills QBs this century. Just win baby. -

I never saw the problem with this. Might have been hard, but it worked. Didn't fit in with Club Rex I guess. the firing mystifies me to this day. Especially after a game where the O scored 31 and the D gave up more. Rex worked in mysterious ways. -

Do you think anything besides Hotrod's performance affected last years drop of 97 points from 2016? -

You have to ask Rex about that. I have not idea. The only stat I care about are wins. -

Did I say blame Shady (nice try). I was making an observation that other parts of the offense regressed substantially along with Taylor and scoring. If it weren't for kickers, the Patriots would have only won maybe 3 super bowls. Fail to see the point on this one. -

Serious question: Do you think the changes the OC made between 2016 and 2017 had any effect on defenses knowing how to stop Hotrod in 2017? -

How much did the new OC contribute to the problem? He WAS fired less than 24 hours after the season was over. I was just noting a drop off in the entire offense from 2016 to 2017, not just one guy. Let's review the pattern: In 2015 we scored 379 points In 2016 we scored 399 points (kind of a backwards dwindle) In 2017 we scored 302 points. What changed in 2017? It was also coupled with Shady's 1.4 ypc drop. What changed on the offense between 2017 and 2018? It wasn't because of one player falling off a cliff IMHO. FYI - You can look it up here: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2015/index.htm If I had to blame it on one guy, it would be Denison. -

not sure where you get this from. Bills were top 1/3 in the league in scoring in 2015 and 2016. Then something changed and scoring went way down. It wasn't Hotrod. Shady also dropped 1.4 yards from his ypc last year btw. -

It's to him as "went to Harvard" is to Fitz. Deserved it not, I suspect he'll always be known for it. Love the obituary someone posted by Dr K above. -
What areas of the team has Beane actually improved?

according to the rules put in place by the NFL before the start of the season, we did. I'm gonna just roll with that. Put whatever spin on it you wish. -
McDermott and young qbs

i think Coach McDermott just wanted to punt. Guys on the bubble make it or don't based on kicking teAms play. Gives him a chance to see them in a game. It's pre season. -

i was at that game. It was awesome until the bitter end. George Wilson got at least one. Chris Kelsay got one by chasing Romo into the EZ. Chris blocked the pass and caught it for a TD. Trent's 4th quarter pick was costly. -

Whaley was the only GM we've had in the last 10 years that understood the importance of the WR position. We should have broke the drought with what he and Buddy assembled in 2015 if Rex could coach defense. Whaley reportedly didn't want to hire Rex. He wanted to hire Sean McDermott. But Rex brought better wine. -

Agreed. Thanks for the respect. It is my opinion. Sammy is good and he still has not been replaced. Maybe KB, maybe ... Why is WR a so under valued position at OBD? The garbage we had here during the Jauron and Gailey days. I thought we had it figured out a few years ago when we had Sammy, Woods, Harvin, Goodwin, and Hogan. We were also in the top 3rd in scoring. But now we're back to schmucks. meanwhile Atlanta trades up in the 1st round AGAIN (Julio last time) to take a good WR. And, they have Matt Ryan ... I'm a football fan, not an accounting fan. I don't understand the salary cap and don't want to. There is a reason teams have highly paid capologists to manage this as opposed to anonymous people on the internet.
