  1. They are waaaaaaaaay more convenient at the airport, but I don't think they are cheaper. BUT let's face it. Uber and Lyft are just glorified taxis.
  2. Each generation is handed problems from the generation before. Greatest Generation handed redlining, Jim Crowe, and Separate but Equal to the Baby Boomers. The Greatest Generation was handed Prohibition and woman couldn't vote by their parents' generation. And I take it you're not old enough to remember when Baby Boomers were younger. A lot of them were idealistic and socialistic too. Remember communes? And while a lot of them did idealistic things others went to college, got degrees, and went to work making money. Just as the millennials in my town known affectionately as Amazonians are doing. One thing I can promise you, in 30 years the XYZ generation or whatever it's called will say the millennials ruined everything. The truth is, we live in an imperfect world. Grow up and deal with it like Baby Boomers and the Greatest Generation before them and one before them did. Pick the football up and carry it down the field as far as you can. You won't score a TD, but maybe a long FG.
  3. I think the Ds have done a horrible job on defining what Medicare for All is. Bernie says it's comprehensive health care, all free. Others say it is pretty much anyone can buy into Medicare at a younger age. Most people under 55 have no idea how Medicare even works or really what it is. For example, like Medicare Advantage which is private insurance with deductibles and co pays. Or a Medicare supplement which is private insurance. It doesn't cover everything. Maybe that's what they want. Confuse the electorate. Wouldn't be the first time. Roll your own Medicare for All. Millennials are like young Baby Boomers. Idealistic. Once they get a little older and have kids and mortgages and stuff, it'll change. And no, I don't feel sorry for the ones with large student loan debt. I know Baby Boomers with student loan debt. Mayor Pete has a big student loan. He's not a millennial either. And lets not forget Baby Boomers were raised by "The Greatest Generation" and Millennials were raised by Baby Boomers. So maybe it's the Greatest Generation's fault ultimately? Every generation thinks the generation before royally screwed up and they are going to fix it. Good luck. "Don't Trust Anyone over 25." -- Baby Boomers. Sound familiar?
  4. Yet the polls show him with a double digit lead with no one really making up any ground. Long way to go though. While the Ds are pushing all racism/xenophobia/sexaphobia/transphobia works in the Twitterverse and on CNN but not sure it connects with actual voters.
  5. Have you checked out http://joe30330.com yet?
  6. She stole that line from W.
  7. I like Bernie, but my theory is Bernie is he's addicted to the big crowds and big rallies and adulation and everyone kissing his you know what all day every day.
  8. I LOVED Marianne Williamson's answer on reparations. While all the others were talking a commission a study blah blah blah, she has a plan. It was beautiful. Every descendent of a slave gets the 40 acres and a mule plus interest. I'm not a fan of the whole reparations thing, but if you're gonna do it, this is a fine plan. I also didn't know until last night she's from Texas. All the better . thanks for sharing your experiences. This is similar to what Canadians tell me when II ask them what they think about it.
  9. I worked on a project in Buffalo last year with a Canadian team member. I asked him about what he thought of Canada's health care system. He said it was good. He said taxes are high, but the price is right for heath care. He didn't have long waits or anything to complain about. I worked on a project in London about 15 years ago and asked the people there too. They said it was good and were happy with it. I'm sure people's experiences are different.
  10. I read a wh8ile back that Pete plays guitar and piano. However I could only find one video of him playing guitar. So I gotta question it. Any musician that can do anything has videos on youtube. Here is the only one I've been able to find. Until I see real playing, I'm classifying him as a wannabe. Even I can put my name in youtube and videos of me playing drums on the first page.
  11. This is so 1960s. Don't they teach history in schools anymore? I thought this was settled science by the Democrats. Otherwise we wouldn't have had the greatest president of all times, JFK.
  12. I have an idea for Greg if he gets fired from Google, GET A JOB instead of high tech pan handling in order to go on a 4 month navel gazing exersize. Often losing a job can open up opportunities for a better job.
  13. I figured they'd be happy to pull the lever on Danny the white supremacist girl killer.
  14. This is not a new revelation. After the election I thought congress would hold an investigation to find out what happened in the election. Did Russia influence by social media? How did they do it? What can we do to curtail their influence going forward? Were other countries involved? What can citizens do to avoid being hoodwinked again? Was the voting system tampered with? Is the voting system hard enough to withstand hacker attempts? If not, fix it. Instead we spent 2 2/3 years trying unsuccessfully to nail Trump's hide to a wall. Meanwhile another election is coming up and we're going to be caught with our pants down (again) because we didn't take care of voting bidness for 4 years and instead investigated which resulted in nothing. Maybe these types of activities have been going on and we just haven't heard about it?
  15. What ever happened to ballot box 13? https://www.nytimes.com/1990/02/11/us/how-johnson-won-election-he-d-lost.html?mtrref=duckduckgo.com&gwh=9F839AC102F4D29D85DC077567EED4C8&gwt=pay
  16. I hope you're right. I'm not so sure. To the bolded part, this is a phenomenon I noticed around 1988 with email. The company I worked for had a global network at that time (seriously). We had a VAX developer/engineer from California that when we would send him an email with a question he would answer back very nastily. Talked down to us. He came to our office to give us a class and we were nervous, but he was the nicest guy, sweet as pie. But in his office behind closed doors he was brave and said things he never would say to us in person. But it was not just him. A lot of people do that in email too. This is exactly the same dynamic we see in social media x 100. With email you at least know the person and know you may actually meet them in person some day. Not so in social media. It would take a lot of people to come to the realization that this is not right and change their behavior when they're addicted to it. Good luck. I don't see it happening. Again, I hope you're right.
  17. 1984 - where they went out and updated all the old newspaper stories to fit the present Double Speak.
  18. I stumbled across this video yesterday. The woman is nuts. Her answer to Pastor Latasha Fields describing not getting an abortion at 17 and then finishing high school and going to college and she and her husband learned trades and now own their own businesses. Ilhan's response is a 5 minute non sensical racial screed. You gotta watch it. Craziness.
  19. No, same as why Trump doesn't pay taxes. It's because I'm smart.
  20. No doubt. I have fallen into this trap a few times myself in the past year. NO MORE. From now on I just say "that's bad if true, but I'm waiting for the other side of the story to come out first before castigating anyone."
  21. I don't look at snopes very often. But I have noticed that they sometimes take a "myth", then kind of define it in a way that is a little different from the common usage, and then "disprove" that.
  22. I watched the Publix security video. While you can't hear anything or see what happened before, it appears that the dude had already checked out. I had thought he was behind her in line but he wasn't. He has his bag in his hand so he already checked out and just stopped to tell this lady she had too many items for the express lane. What is he, the express lane monitor? Who appointed him as such? I would have told him to buzz off and mind his own business too. That said, they both were aggressive with each other. This is the kind of thing that has always happened and people may have been upset for 10 minutes and reasoned that the other person is just a A-Hole and move on, but now with social media we have other options. Looked to me like what often happens in things like this is 2 a$$holes run into each other and they both behave badly causing a much bigger dust up than needed. He didn't have to stop and she didn't need to go after him back.
